What’s for Dinner Tonight?

If you continue to follow this thread, which I hope you will, you'll see we eat raw oysters often. We love them. We also prefer our meat & fish raw or close to it.
I love seafood but with three degrees in food science (i.e., multiple courses in food microbiology) I could never bring myself to eat raw seafood, until about 5 years ago. A friend who is admired for his food-sense told me about cold, briney oysters with equally cold gin or vodka to go with as being an ultimate experience. One day, I finally followed his advice and there's been no turning back (although I forego the shots these days)! I've never had sushi but that's because I don't like the layer of seaweed that most is wrapped in. However, last fall I bit the bullet and has sashimi at Morimoto in Disney Springs and man, did I enjoy that! [and TBH, I am not why the thought of raw seafood was so off-putting... I eat bites of raw hamburg, always have, ever since I was little, so...]

Dinner last night? We went out. Going out to eat has become more prevalent since DD/SIL/LittleGuy moved to their own home. I have no kitchen responsibilities to anyone other than DH and myself, so it makes it easy to blow off cooking, especially when it's late and we are tired. However... it needs to stop as it gets expensive quickly. I need to get back to cooking two "mains" on the weekend for us to use as quick suppers during the week!

Last night it was 6:35 when we left work, it was too late to make what I'd planned, and I just couldn't face up to figuring out what to have and prepping dinner, and then cleaning the kitchen (even though DH usually does the scut work, I just help by putting away leftovers, etc). We went to a local restaurant that is celebrating June (the month they were founded, they do this every year). On Mondays in June, they serve their burger (pretty good sized) and fries for $5.66. Upgrade to onion rings for $1.50 (which I did), add a shake for $4 (DH's choice). It was reasonably good (they cook their burgers more than I like... only med well or well done) but it was tasty, easy, and not too expensive.

TOnight? I have pre-made angus meatballs from Trader Joe's. I'll cook them all (last sale date is tomorrow); half will become either swedish meatballs or the other half will probably morph into meatball subs. That takes care of tonight (WFH on Tuesdays and Thursdays so I can cook) and tomorrow (when I have to go into work all day)!

You can find all kinds of sushi rolls that don't have seaweed. You can also request that they leave out the seaweed on sushi. You should give it a try. You'll wonder what took you so long. I could eat sushi rolls every day.
