Ended up with Real Good General Tso's chicken last night.
I'm limited on my dinners. 2 of my meals were out of stock.....so I'm short on food.
We do have extra eggs and a couple bags of salad.
We'll be at California Adventure today, so we'll see what lunch is....and how tired I am when we get back
It was beautiful today. Picked up my dad and we took a ride to pick up some plants (24 tomato plants. I have an issue!) for the garden. Got home planted 5 kinds of potatoes and peas. Then did a bunch of yard work. Lettuce will go in tomorrow. If the long range forecast looks good I’ll start planting other plants next weekend. I finally sat down and I was hot and tired. I didn’t want to cook and felt hot more than hungry so I had a frosty from Wendy’s for dinner.
It's been cold and rainy here all weekend and morning. Sun is trying to make an appearance now, but the chill is still definitely in the air and more rain is supposed to be on the way. Cauliflower leek soup on deck tonight.
It's going to be an interesting week. Basement refrig/freezer bit the dust this weekend. Lost a chunk of stuff I couldn't squeeze in upstairs or rehome with neighbors. I feel kind of at a loss without being able to count on the tomatoes, tomato sauces, homemade stock, etc. I could just grab and pop into lots of basic meals and make them seem a touch more fussed over than they actually were. Now I really want to wave the white flag on the cooking routine.
At this point it's going to be a squeeze to even find the time to look for a replacement this week. Weirdly I've been noticing the refrig in the kitchen has been noticeably noisier the past couple weeks and had in the back of mind there might be an issue brewing there. I have my doubts it's going to be worth the hassle/expense of getting the fried one up and out, moving the kitchen one down and replacing the kitchen one and am contemplating just picking new units for both. I don't even need to speak the words to know DH's opinion on that idea.
Bucked the Mexican food trend (forgot it was Cinco de Mayo, duh) and made Italian instead. Cacio e pepe ravioli and peas with a fennel and arugula salad.
Our local grocery store was having a huge meat sale this last weekend, so we stocked up on fresh brats. DH is grilling them tonight, and I am prepping some potatoes and onions to grill, and then I have either brussels or broccoli to throw on there, too. Might make a pasta salad if I get out work in time.
Used up all the asparagus I bought over the weekend making cream of asparagus soup, a new way for me: half roasted asparagus, the rest boiled as normal. Will remember and do again another time.
Tonight’s meat will be a hamburger on a bed of cottage cheese and salad greens.
Been sick in bed for three days with some kind of respiratory thing. Finally was able to get up today. Making orange chicken and fried rice (both frozen) for dinner.
