We've set a date

Congratulations! And just my opinion here, but no wedding is complete without the chicken dance and the electric slide, but thats just my two cents, lol.:dance3:

The kids have requested "The Chicken Dance" much to the consternation of some our friends, so we'll have to do it. I don't know about the Electric Slide but we do have the Cha Cha slide on there.

Congratulations!

I've always pictured my wedding reception definitely having Harry Belafonte's "Jump in the Line" I just love that song and it always puts me in a good mood.

Now we're working on the song list. I thought it would be easy but it's not. Our song we'll dance together to is "Beautiful in Your Eyes" Joshua Kadison. We are going to dance to "Over the Rainbow/It's a Wonderful World" Israel Kama...
and a couple of other slow songs. Now we're struggling with upbeat songs. We have Walkin' on Sunshine, the Dance Mix of What's Up by 4 Non Blondes (from back in the day when DP and I danced in clubs:lmao:)

If anyone has any suggestions, please feel free to post them we're open to ideas. Though we looked at some of the "top 200" lists and we see songs like U2's "I still haven't found what I'm looking for and "If that's your boyfriend, he wasn't last night" While I love U2 as much as the next guy, not for my wedding.

When I saw this I was so excited! My partner and I are having a commitment ceremony in about ummmm 50 days!! :scared1: I am so excited for you and your partner!

But what I noticed the most here is that we have the same song as you do! :cutie:

Best of Luck! Can't wait to hear more!

Congratulations! and keep us posted. That's great about the song, love it!

Nothing much new to report. Can't believe I posted this 4 months ago!
We have DP's birth certificate. When we get within the 60 day window we'll get our marriage license and book city hall for the ceremony.

We still need to do our invitations which will happen within the next month. We've reserved a block of rooms for the weekend at a nearby hotel including a suite for us. Anybody want 2 kids for a night? :rolleyes1.

That's all I've got right now.

Within the next month we hope to get out the invitations, have the cake design done and have the menu updated with the banquet hall. We know what we want we just need to let the facility know. We also need to get back to the song list for the DJ.

Glad things are falling into place. We have set a date and are getting married at a private small ceremony on 29 February. After a long time of arguing we finally went and got the license and set a date.

Hope you get everything set soon and it is everything you dreamed it would be.

Congratulations! Yayy!

Hope it's a beautiful day for you all.

If you need advice on songs or general DJ items, send me a PM. I was a mobile DJ for 2 years and A) LOVED it but B) have seen some things that really can mean the difference between fun and not so fun.

Also congrats! I am also getting married in NY May 11th. Then in Aug 2013, doing a Disney Dream wedding with family and friends. The NY ceremony will just be us plus the witness. Best of luck!

Thank you. I may take you up on that.

And congratulations to you guys too. That's awesome! Love that you're doing a Disney Dream Wedding next year.

Thank you, didn't mean to hijack, but am very excited. I can't believe this is legal in New York and hope the rest of the U.S. does what is right for all its citizens.

Hijack away. The more the merrier. I'm glad to know we're in good company and love hearing other people's stories and plans.

Like I've said before we've been married for 16 years as we had a union ceremony, so maybe no "legally" but we committed ourselved to one another a long time ago.. And we debated if we would do it when it was legalized. but when NYS said, we're like you know it's time. The law has been passed and we need to stand up and add our names to the ranks of married New Yorkers. Here's hoping we can one day check the "Married Filing Joint" box on our 1040.

Got the marriage license and got an appointment for the ceremony at City Hall on the 25th of May!!!
Response cards are coming in.

DP needs an outfit, we all need shoes and DS needs a suit. We're gettin' there.

Congrats! My partner and I had a ceremony in front of family and close friends in November. Such a great thing!

Our reception is the 26th too! We're having immediate family and a close friend at the ceremony and then Saturday's the big party.

Little glitch. Just found out the friend making the cake isn't certified and we're at a banquet hall. Not sure if we will be able to use her or not. If not, we have a couple of options of where we can go last minute, it just won't be as fancy.

On the plus side we were able to book a place for a luncheon on Friday after the ceremony. We didn't do it sooner because we had to wait until we booked the ceremony and we couldn't book the ceremony (at City Hall) until we had the license.

Well we are less than 2 weeks away.

The cake has been straightened out and ordered.

Have a bunch of things on the to do list. But it will all get done one way or another!

Congrats!!!!

As a (retiring) wedding photographer, I spend almost every weekend around couples getting married. If anything, I have learned that love is love. Love comes in all shapes and sizes, and isn't something that is easily defined. I really wish I had gotten to shoot a gay wedding or two.

I happen to be a happily married straight male, but fully support gay rights. I am from NC... to bad I only got one vote eh? (Well 2 since my wife also voted NO). Sorry to jump into your forums :) I was just looking around since we are going to be at Disney during Gay Days for my son's senior trip.
