Sunday 12th December
Today was our last full day and we were all saying the same thing " I dont want to leave !!"
We had planned a full day in Epcot but it was raining hard and we agreed there was little point rushing out to be soaking wet by the time we got to Epcot gates!
The rain eventually eased off a bit and we got to Epcot at Midday. It was freezing and by the time we reached the gates I was close to tears as I couldnt feel my feet. So first stop was Mouse gear to buy some socks !! Now Im wearing black ballerina pumps so guess what colour socks they have ?? Oh yes sparkling white and no black socks in sight!! I am desperate enough to warm up my feet that I go for them anyway ad promptly get disowned by my loving family who insist The strange lady with blinding white socks and black shoes walk at least 5 steps in front
No sooner had my feet warmed up and it started to flipping throw it down with rain and my nice new socks became satured and I had to take them off again - but on the plus side I could rejoin my family!!!
The plan today is too see world showcase and then redo the favourite rides in future world. So we head for the showcase and the rain is now actually hurting its coming down so fast - we duck into O canada and enjoy the warm and dry. The film actually was very clever too and Im glad we took the time to see it !!
We briskly walk through the UK - We so know what the UK in the rain looks like and we really dont need any reminders. I wanted to see the british Invasion but the show was cancelled because of the rain.
As we ran through France looking for cover we ducked into the market streets of Mexico - I was so impressed with the theming here and a little look in the shop meant that we stayed out of the dryish until the rain stopped.
Taking the oppurtunity to walk to the next land we were shocked to see the floor was so wet that Cms were sweeping water away to make it easier to walk.
America made it worthwhile coming out of the villa today. Mr and Mrs Claus was out and the line was minimal. Keira and I jumped in line whilst the boys found a bench. We were so near the front when it started to rain again. I turned round to make sure the boys were ok and laughed my head off to see them huddled under our ponchos on the bench !!
As we approach the front of the line Cameron comes to join us as he decided it was worth reminding Santa one more time what was on his list !!
Mrs Claus motioned me over and held my hand and asked what I wanted for Christmas?? I told her id already had my christmas present watching my family smiling and happy for a 3 weeks and I didnt really know what to ask for !! She said she would make sure Mr claus found me something really special
she told me to sit next to her and she held my hand so tight whilst we posed for a pic !! ( Photopass pic to be added!!)
I asked Cameron what he said to Santa and he said nothing much so Im still not sure what prompted Mrs Claus to hold my hand so tight but you know when you get the feeling that someone is trying to tell you something and you are just not getting what it is - thats how I felt after this interaction and to this day Ive not worked out what it was she was trying to tell me. I did appreciate the warm hands though as my hands were freezing !!
We decied to go inside the Liberty Inn and grab some food. The choice for Keira in here was amazing and hats off to Disney for not only accomadating her but also offering a choice!!!
The food in here was good and the kids were impressed by the mini gingerbread house as we walked in!!
After filling up on food and loving a bit of warmth we carried on our journey around the world.
Italy was next and the rude statue caused some concern to Cam who felt it should be censored much to the amusement of the rest of us !!
The juggler was due to perform and the rain had stopped so we stood to wait and watch. It was actually worth the wait. Daniel got picked to join the juggler and he was a major part of the show !! It was so funny because the juggler uses mime and a whistle and at one point Daniel looked at him and said Im sorry I dont understand whistle !! Can you just speak ???
In China we again ducked in to watch the show. When we exited Wayne said he felt ill and needed to find a toilet so we stayed put and mooched round the shops - there is some lovely momentos in here and we easily spent half hour in here whilst waiting for wayne.
When he did return he looked death white and said he was feeling really rough. So we decided to do the last ride in Norway and go back to the villa and re-evaluate the day. I was so cold I welcomed the idea of going back for some clean dry clothes. Amazingly the kids didnt put up a fight either.
On the way out of the park we came across Duffy and had to go for autoraphs and hugs. They were most insisstant here that I joined the kids for a photo which was a bit strange but I dutifully agreed.
Back at the villa Wayne goes straight to bed and falls asleep instantly. I tried hard not to think about what happens if he isnt feeling any better by the flight time tommorow !!
Now we hadnt seen Illuminations this trip as we always see it on our last evening. I was now forced to decide if I was going to take the kids back to epcot on my own, leaving Wayne asleep or if I was going to skip it and just stay in the warm.
Well at 8 pm I was standing with 4 kids In Epcot. They were begging for a ride on spaceship Earth!! After riding twice we were getting close to 9pm and the start of illuminations.
We wandered through stopping for photopass shots as we went and eventually arrive at the lake at just before 9pm. The wind was so strong that you struggled to stand in one spot!
No joke Cam was holding onto the rail for fear of being pushed over !
Keira was in her pushchair sheltered nicely but holding the pushchair in one place got tricky. A kind gentleman put his hand on my back to steady me more than once.
We were all saying that we thought Illuminations would be cancelled due to the wind when the announcement came over that Illuminations would start shortly.
Illuminations was the funniest firework display I have ever seen nothing shot up into the air it kind of got wind swept to the side and the smoke was stopping any kind of view of the display. The area we were standing in had all of us chuckling and asking each other if they had ever seen anything quite like a wind swept fireworks display !!
So after watching to the bitter end - well you have to dont you !!
We all linked arms and made our way out of the park !! I was so proud of my kids who had all looked after each other through the rugby scrum of guests exiting the park.
When we got back Wayne said he was still feeling delicate but a lot better than earlier on.
We all jumped into bed and fell asleep really quickly.
