We've had our Webmail hacked

Had a phone call from Blueyonder this morning to say that someone's infiltrated our Webmail and has been sending out tons of spam, so they've closed our account temporarily. We've got to wait until we get new passwords in the post before we'll be able to send or receive email. They say it's likely to be due to a virus on our computer, but everything looks OK this end.

Why do people do it?

bad news Deb, can't understand why people do this sort of thing. Last year someone did a similar thing to our e-bay account, they were selling knock off Prada bags ....

At least they've caught it quick enough but it's still a pain to have to wait for new passwords. Can I assume any Emails I got from you int he last couple of days are rubbish then

I have been having the problem the other way, recieving junk mail, normally I get about 5 a day, this last few days I have been getting 100-200 a day. I am hoping it was some filter along the line not working properly as I have not had 1 for about 5 hours now, maybe its back to normal.
junk mail and viruses are such a pain.

Do you use PC's or Macs?

Both. We have Norton Antivirus on the PC and we've run a full system scan which hasn't thrown up anything. The Macs (we have an iBook and an iMac) shouldn't be a problem.

I checked my inbox today and I had 99 spam messages.

Hopefully none were from Deb, although I did spend a lot of time marking them as Spam so you never know I could of blocked you Deb!
