We've FALLen for WDW...An October 2010 PTR! New 10/14 TR Link Added

Just subbing!
We are going to WDW Oct 19-29th and we are also staying at CSR!

Sorry not been her for awhile--missed update notice. :rolleyes

Great new bag! I have a change jar going too that I started in March. I figure if anything, it would give DD press penny money. :thumbsup2

Wow, you are going to be having a busy summer! What am I most looking forward to this summer? Going back to visit my coworkers and friends in Northern IL in June, eating from our garden and swimming/playtime at the lake and outside in general.

Great Top 10 list of why WDW. I love the planning part too!!

What a great recap of your MI trip. Great last picture! :)

It's okay! :) Sometimes my UserCP doesn't like to keep the updated threads in bold for too long...talk about annoying! :confused3

That's a good idea for the pressed penny money but I'm sure you'll have more $$ in that change jar than you think! I have a $25 gift card from Sunshine Rewards, and another from a friend that we didn't use up last trip (I think it has around $10 on it) and I plan on redeeming my "Dream Dollars" before this trip (I'll have around $30) and then whatever change is in the bucket will be our souvenir $$. I also hope to earn $25 or $50 more dollars from Sunshine Rewards, I have $12 in my account right now. :thumbsup2

The things you are looking forward to sound really great. :) Especially the swimming at the lake part. I hope to get to the beach a couple of times this summer. But with 4 of our 7 combined siblings graduating and another getting married our summer is packed and that's only immediate family! :scared1:

Just subbing!
We are going to WDW Oct 19-29th and we are also staying at CSR!

Welcome. I will have to go check out your PTR! :)

OK I just read every post to catch myself up! It took me about an hour and a half but I made it! Starting all the way back from the beginning!

Just wanted to let you know that I am also a scrapper....I made a book for each of my Disney trips. I'm currently working on the book from our October 2009 trip. I took sooo many pictures I feel like I will still be working on it when we go back this October! I'm thinking now, though, that I REALLY need a Cricut...maybe that will go on the Christmas list this year....Although I'll be 28 by then...do I still get to make a Christmas list? :confused3

Thanks to wdwgirl03, I stopped at Borders this morning and picked up a new book. :cool1:

hiddenmagicbook.jpg

I am SO excited to begin reading it.

I've read almost every WDW guide book out there...with the exception of the "WDW with Kids" ones since we don't have any kids... and this was one of my favorites! I will be going back through it in the coming months to write down some of the stuff I want to check out!

I know you posted your final ADR list but here are the comments I made in my head as I was reading:

Boma
We  with this place! We went here on our last trip in December and I discovered the goat cheese & chive eggs as well as the banana bread. :cloud9: I really think this a must do every trip. I know we'll regret it if we don't do it.

Love Boma for breakfast. We did it in 2007 and again in 2008...did not do it in 2009 and it's not on the itinerary for 2010 but the French Toast is fantastical.

1900 Park Fare
The bacon was the best I have ever had on WDW property. The sticky pecan buns are amazing. The strawberry soup screams comfort to me (my mom makes a jello mold that tastes very similar). I really think I will miss it if we don't return here.

Have not eaten here yet...it was on the list for this upcoming trip but we decided on the Grand Floridian Cafe instead... This will definitely get done on the next trip, however.

Kona
I really want to try the Tonga Toast, if only for the strawberry syrup. Well, and the sugary goodness that appears on the outside. Plus, I really think that DH will enjoy the macadamia-pineapple pancakes.

Tonga Toast = the greatest thing ever made

Crystal Palace
I want this ADR for 2 reasons. 1. To get into MK before the park actually opens and 2. Puffy French Toast. We had dinner here on our honeymoon and I wasn't impressed but the breakfast appears to get better reviews and the ability to get into the park before opening with an ADR=Score!

Breakfast here is REALLY good...again, something we haven't done in a couple years but you can definitely count on a good meal. It does feel a bit crowded though when you are sitting in the middle of the dining room...you might want to try and request a window seat. Pooh knocked some of the stuff on our table over trying to squeeze by on one of our visits...and in two visits to CP we have never had the chance to meet Eeyore.

Sci-Fi Dine In Theatre
DH loves burgers and I love onion rings. I want to try one of the cookies & cream milkshakes. I also think the atmosphere of this place is awesome.

The milkshakes are fantastic....the theme is great. But the last time we ate there, the food wasn't very good. We'll wait a while before we go back.

San Angel Inn
I regretted not trying this last time. The atmosphere of the pavilion is really neat. Plus, the soup looks great! The lunch menu seems to be more appealing and from what I've read here on DIS, get better reviews than dinner. Plus, I want to spend our evening at EPCOT sampling all the food the F&W festival has to offer.

LOVE San Angel Inn! We have eaten here on every trip since 2007.

Plaza
The fries look delcious. Again, DH likes burgers and I would like him to get his fix as I only make them about once a month here at home. Another good reason is to have a TS on our MK day.

Again...LOVE IT.

Ohana
I like that it is a take on a brazilian steakhouse. The food looks like something both DH and I would enjoy

Been here for breakfast 100 times, but never done dinner. We have dinner scheduled for this October and I'm really excited about it. I think this is the meal I am MOST looking forward to.

I'm torn between requesting Cabanas or Casitas. We may go to the Dig Site once or twice (maybe more to use the hot tub depending on the weather) but I think the majority of our pool time will be spent at one of the quiet pools.

In the book I am almost through with Epcot, so about halfway. It is amazing to me that all of that planning went into WDW. So magical. :cloud9:

We requested the Ranchos for this year. I want to be close to a bus stop, close to ANY pool, and close to a laundry room. We usually only visit the pool once per trip - IF that, so getting to the Dig Site is not a huge priority. We also plan to eat TS breakfasts and spend all day in the parks so we won't have to worry about getting to the Pepper Market very often. And since we will be close to a bus stop, I could just hitch a ride to El Centro if need be.

I highly recommend the Imagineers Field Guide books. There is a lot of Imagineer jargon to get used to but they are phenomenal. AK is my favorite park so naturally that was my favorite book, but the Epcot one is equally as awesome. The MK one is also really good but I think I knew a lot of the stuff they talked about already. Alas, they do not have a DHS one yet.

Thank you for joining in! For the past few days I was getting sad that no one wanted to read my PTR! :grouphug:

DH and I took a very last minute trip in December and couldn't get very many ADR's and choose not to do the DDP. I love eating out (and not just at QS) so the DDP definitely makes the most sense for us! However, we did discover many new QS places that we enjoy b/c of it! What are your favorite QS places?

I know this was a while back (15 pages ago!) but my TRs are always slow to get going too... it always says I have a lot of "views" but I guess it's either lurkers or people are bored to tears after the first few lines and don't bother reading the rest. :confused3

We did the DDP in 2007 and were seriously considering the DxDP for this year. However, I am a Discover Card member and I get 5% cashback bonus awards on restaurants during the month of October. I ended up getting back almost $100, which I have now applied towards gift cards to Landry's Restaurants...which I can use this year at Yak & Yeti and T-Rex! :woohoo:
Plus we ended up getting a 35% PIN code discount for our package for our travel dates so it just works out better for us than taking advantage of free dining. Plus, if we don't use all of credits, I won't feel like we wasted money.

Taking it Back: A Look Into my Very FIRST Disney World Trip!

DISCLAIMER: Please forgive the quality of my pictures. I believe I was still using a disposable at this point in my life. :rotfl2:

The first time I went to Disney World, I was 16. (I'm nearly positive. It was either my sophomore or junior year of high school.) The year was 2004. I went with my high school marching band. We stayed offsite and took two tour buses down. We also spent one day at Universal (our last day in Orlando).

I was there in July 2004! I remember it was HOT...it was only my 2nd trip to WDW, the only ADR we had was the Luau at the Poly, we blew by 1000's of things because my stepfather had no idea what planning was and I was not a DISer yet. I still had a film camera so my pics were not all that great either! Oooh and I am also a band nerd! What did you play? I played clarinet. We never get to go to Disney but we went to Cedar Point in OH my senior year...that was FUN!! I miss band trips!

This trip was...exhausting but full of laughter and great times. I remember on the bus ride there I barely slept at all and the bus ride home I slept nearly the entire way back!

When we were returning from our trip in 2007, my boyfriend and I fell asleep on the plane before we even took off.

DH and I each have our own digital, which actually comes in handy on our trips, as when we come home we can share our pictures and relive the vacation through each of our "eyes". :)

I did this last year...I had my mom get my boyfriend a camera for his birthday so that he would have it for our trip in October and it worked out great. It was so nice to have pictures for the scrapbook that are from his point of view.

Taking it Back: A Look into my Christmas Time 2006 Trip!

We had beautiful weather this trip, it feel like summer but without the extreme humidity.

Hey! We went in Dec 2006, too! It was for my birthday! We were there from 12/1 - 12/10 and stayed at ASMo.

DStepmom and I do not get along when together for long periods of time and it was starting to wear on the both of us and she knows just what she has to do to make me look like the bad one. :sad2:

Totally know what you mean! My step-mom and I get along fairly well for the most part but boy does she know how to push buttons! I invited her and my dad to come with us to WDW on this past trip and although I know they would have had a great time, I'm glad they didn't come. Stepmom is a complainer. I can only imagine hearing her complain all week about how hot it was, or how crowded it was, or why do we get up so early and stay out so late, and why are you buying this, or buying that. She would have drove me crazy.

This morning I brought down my scrapbooking materials to begin making a "Make Your Own" Honeymoon album for my DBIL and his DF as a wedding shower gift. I have been intrigued by the mousekeeping envelopes as of late and being that I enjoy being creative I decided to make my own "envelope".

Here is what I came up with:

000_0021.jpg

LOVE these. I think I might steal your idea LOL

Taking it Back: Our Disneymoon
We stayed at the PO-FQ.

We stayed at FQ in 2008 and loved it. It's tied with CSR as my favorite resort.

Disneymoon Scrapbooking Pictures

I really wish I could do scrapbooking for other people as my job but with the economy being the way it is, I just don't see myself making very much money doing so. Oh, well!

I say this same thing ALL THE TIME! My whole family keeps trying to convince me to start my own business... I would finally be doing something I love, being able to work from home, make my hours and there is the potential to make a lot of money...but right now, I just don't see people dropping their hard earned cash on something like this.

This is referencing your post about the Boulangerie Patisserie...if you haven't already, try Kringla Bakeri in Norway. Blew France out of the water, IMO.

I took VIDEO of my brother and his girlfriend drinking Beverly for the first time. They're posted in my 2007 TR if you want to see them. PRICELESS

I got a new park bag, I got a new park bag, I got a new park bag!

hipster.jpg

Love it! I bought a Mickey one from Avon that is sitting in my closet, waiting patiently for October to arrive so that it can be used for the first time!

AKL instead of CSR? Say what?!

I was crunching numbers tonight and found that if the Special Offer room discount of 40% on Deluxe Rooms extends to include all of our dates (unforunately, it is a "hard" cut-off and can't be applied to your entire stay if it's not completely within the specified dates) we can switch to Animal Kingdom Lodge Club Level, get rid of the dining plan, and only have to pay an extra $200 or so! The DDP would no longer be a deal for us as we would be eating in the lounge instead of CS at the resort, which I have 4 of those meals planned now. I am not going to switch it as of yet because I just finished paying the trip off and I don't want to switch in anticipation of the deal extending and then CSR fills up if the offer doesn't become available (especially since we want a king room).

What do you think??? The last thing I need is to be playing the long waiting game to see if a room discount is offered but I think it's too late now. :lmao:

I would 5000% pick AKL! I want to stay there SO BAD but I just can't afford it for the length of time that we go for, and my boyfriend doesn't want to do a split stay. We could afford it with a 40% discount during value season but that's about it! I would skip club level though and just stay Savannah View and save the extra money...maybe put it towards the dining....

Oh yes, and we are also spare-change-rollers! My boyfriend had an extra $100 just in change that he was able to bring as souvenir money in 2009. All those pennies add up!!

Welcome. I will have to go check out your PTR! :)

Thanks - although you may be the only one! LOL :rotfl:

Heck yes you can make a Christmas list still! haha...although I suggest trying to pick it up on Black Friday. Mine was a Christmas gift from the in-laws but she got it for $65 dollars on Black Friday instead of the normal $200! :thumbsup2 Right now I have two albums completed, my 2006 family Disney Trip and my honeymoon trip. I'm almost finished with our engagement album and I hope to start working on our wedding album soon but I need to order more pics from snapfish!

Actually, as of right now we aren't doing Plaza, Sci-Fi or San Angel anymore. I think I posted an update but I'm not sure and I'm too lazy to look right now.

We requested the Ranchos for this year. I want to be close to a bus stop, close to ANY pool, and close to a laundry room. We usually only visit the pool once per trip - IF that, so getting to the Dig Site is not a huge priority. I still am not sure where I want to request. I think my only request might ground floor corner room.

Epcot is my favorite park and those books sound amazing, I may just have to get one...:rolleyes1

I know this was a while back (15 pages ago!) but my TRs are always slow to get going too... it always says I have a lot of "views" but I guess it's either lurkers or people are bored to tears after the first few lines and don't bother reading the rest. :confused3

We did the DxDP for our honeymoon and WHOA it was A LOT of food! We didn't really snack all that much because of it. However, I didn't feel as sick as I did this past trip because we were eating good food consistently and not just CS all the time.

I did this last year...I had my mom get my boyfriend a camera for his birthday so that he would have it for our trip in October and it worked out great. It was so nice to have pictures for the scrapbook that are from his point of view.

It was just so great to see him getting so into the DIsney thing. :lovestruc

LOVE these. I think I might steal your idea LOL

Thanks! I'm really happy with how they turned out. I want to try a couple of other ideas so they can get different ones, too. Go ahead and steal my idea!! Although, I did use the cricut to cut the Mickey head and letters.

We stayed at FQ in 2008 and loved it. It's tied with CSR as my favorite resort.

I say this same thing ALL THE TIME! My whole family keeps trying to convince me to start my own business... I would finally be doing something I love, being able to work from home, make my hours and there is the potential to make a lot of money...but right now, I just don't see people dropping their hard earned cash on something like this.

I agree with you. I don't see enough people wanting to pay someone to do that at this point. Maybe in a few years...

This is referencing your post about the Boulangerie Patisserie...if you haven't already, try Kringla Bakeri in Norway. Blew France out of the water, IMO.

I will have to try KB then!

I took VIDEO of my brother and his girlfriend drinking Beverly for the first time. They're posted in my 2007 TR if you want to see them. PRICELESS.

Doing CL would replace many of our breakfast CS at the resort and I would love to have the appetizers in the evening and to enjoy a glass of wine. We'll see, if it's meant to be, it will happen! I really hope the room discount is extended.

Oh yes, and we are also spare-change-rollers! My boyfriend had an extra $100 just in change that he was able to bring as souvenir money in 2009. All those pennies add up!!

My comments are in red, I thought it only fair that I commented on all of your comments seeing that you went ALL the way back! :)

What an awesome weekend! I've never been to Michigan, though I kept wanting to visit back when I lived in Chicago. Now it's high on the list of 'Places we need to go that are not Disney'

That was a crapload of stairs. Major kudos for climbing them- in flip flops, no less!

Thanks! DH and I also have a listed of places to go to that aren't Disney. I have to remind myself that we have our entire lives ahead of us to visit all of these places but I can't help wanting to go NOW! hahaha

My legs were so shaky and felt like jello for a good while after climbing.

Sunday marks Greg and I's first anniversary! So, I thought I would share just a few pictures with you from our wedding. Hope you enjoy!

I got ready at Greg's parents that day. This was taken in their backyard...

Me and all of my bridesmaids and flower girl. We only had family in the wedding so the girls consisted of 3 of my cousins and my sister and Greg's 2 sisters...
AllGirlsOutside2-1.jpg

This is our first kiss. Now that I look at this picture again it looks like Greg was shaking my hand. He told me he was so nervous that he almost threw up before the ceremony. We both aren't ones to have all eyes on us so the ceremony definitely went by in a blur!
RachGregFirstKiss3.jpg

We got a trolley as our transportation for the day. It was a lot of fun!
WeddingPartyOnTrolley.jpg

These are two of my most favorite pictures from the entire day.

CoupleGazebo3.jpg

I have plenty more but I won't bore you with them. We had such great weather that day. It was cloudy/rainy in the morning but cleared up and was in the mid-70's for the afternoon. Everyone kept telling our parents and us how much fun they had and how beautiful it was for weeks after the wedding. My aunt even mentioned it to me at my Dad's birthday party last month. That was something I worried about a lot-making sure everyone had fun. It was by far the best day of my life-thus far.

I hope everyone enjoys their Memorial Day weekend. I have my brother's graduation tonight, my little cousins ballet recital tomorrow and Sunday is our anniversary so we are going to a Cubs game (Greg is a fan) and staying the night in the hotel where we had our reception and enjoying our champagne we got from my Uncle. Monday we are grilling skirt steak (I have the best marinade recipe!) and I'm making fresh corn salsa and a strawberry jello/sorbet for dessert. I'm really excited! :)

Congrats on your anniversary! Love the wedding pics, especially the trolley one.

Happy anniversary! I love your dress - so pretty! :lovestruc And it looks like you had an amazing weekend away. The B&B looks so cute, and what a beautiful place!!!

Thanks! I can't believe how quickly the year went by!

Let's just say there will probably be an "announcement" at the end of my TR :rolleyes1

YAY! :) You're almost done with your TR so I don't have to wait too long.

Happy Anniversary!!!

Thanks & I loved my dress too. I didn't think I wanted strapless or a gown like that but when the lady at the shop I got it from picked it out and I tried it on, I knew it was the one! It reminds me of Belle's dress. :) It's pretty hard NOT to be happy on your wedding day (as you know b/c you just got married)!

Happy Anniversary. Thank you for sharing your beautiful wedding pictures with us. I'm sitting here having heart failure...these Hawks are killing me.

Happy Anniversary! You look beautiful in your wedding dress. TFS pictures from your special day! :goodvibes

:woohoo: for booking a cruise!!! How exciting. I think I have convinced DH to go one one next May, to celebrate my master's graduation!

Yes, there have been several games on Versus this season (Friday's game is on Versus too -- feel sorry for the Chicago people at Disney now who can't see it because Disney doesn't carry Versus).

I HAVE BIG NEWS! Wait, before you go on make sure you are sitting. (I would think you would be but you never know. :lmao:)
