We decided to go and buy a 6 man tent on saturday and then drive down to Porthmadog and stay overnight near black rock sands!
sounds great!!
well it poured down all saturday, and the whole campsite must of been laughing as we put this tent up in the pouring rain! well. it only took us 3 and a half hours from start to finish :p
I must admit, i nearly gave up and told dh i just wanted to go home, but my dd was so looking forward to camping, rain or not, i couldnt let her down. We did have a good time once we were in the tent and dry!! :umbrella: and now we are planning to go to Cornwall for a week at the end of August, at least we'll know how to put the tent up in Cornwall!! :rotfl2:

We went camping for the first time in July this year, and we loved it.
Hope the weather is better when you go to Cornwall Jeanette!! :teeth:

Glad you had a 'fun' time :) I hope the sun is out when you go to Cornwall.

Not my cup of tea but good luck!

This is the second summer we haven't been camping anywhere as a family (DD has been with her friends), and I do miss it.

Have a great time in Cornwall :)

Hope the weather is better for you in Cornwall. I would like to try camping :)

Well at least you managed to go somewhere. DH and I had 3 days off together (a rare occurence) and we decided to go camping with our new and still in the box 9 person tent. On the day we were due to go, it rained and carried on raining until we went back to work, so we didn't even bother going!
So now we are hoping to go at the end of August with our 4 kids and I dare not even say the dates we want to go as I know it will immediately start to rain as soon as we try and leave the house! And all I want is a bit of :sunny: :sunny: :sunny:

Probably somewhere in Wales...Snowdonia, as we only have 2 nights and I need to be able to get home if it rains!!!!! :umbrella:

Good luck to you all!!When My parents took us to Cornwall camping (early 1970's) we stopped on a campsite near a cliff.Within a short space if time from putting up the tent it poured down for a couple of hours, we played board games etc and cooked some warming food and retired to bed. During the night the rains began again and after an uneasy night we got up to use the facilities. Mum asked "where's your raincoat?"I looked around and no joy.She got cross and said I must have left it at home . Dad looked around and asked where the wellies were he could only find 3 of the 4 pairs.None of us knew where they were. By lunch time my parents had had enough of the rain and decided to up sticks and travel 50 miles away, just as they pulled up the ground sheet from a sea of mud I saw a corner of my raincoat and half way across our tent pitch a pair of muddy wellies, the mud had made the tent slide !!Too tired to notice when they got up that morning we thanked our lucky stars it had not moved too far!!

Was a camper as a child ( from 2 years old to 16 years old) it was a good experience and we went to many parts of the UK, but now that I'm an adult I can honestly say I prefer not to rough it, plus my DH and I don't drive!

I don't envy you I'm afraid, my holidays HAVE to be luxury or I won't go, even trekking through India left me staying in 4 star plus tented lodges, oh and good choice not coming to cornwall, it'll be packed and the weather WILL be bad

I luv camping and l really luv Black Rock sands. We've just come back from a week in the Forest of Dean near Monmouth. It was great and the kids luved it, they get 2 meet new friends & arent stuck infront of a games console the whole time!

The only thing with campin is trekkin over a field in the middle of the nite 2 go 2 the loo and this time we were attacked by flyin ants :scared1: But other than that it was good fun

we'll have are own mini dis club here in north wales soon! always meet up in iceland!! :rotfl: bit of camping on the car park :cool1:
