Wet Towels

This is a dumb question, but I'm just curious. Do you have any issues at all leaving wet towels lay around your house when you leave for vacation? My mom has always had issues w/this. When I was young, we all had to shower the night before, so she could do laundry. She still does this. Not quite sure why, she says they smell sitting around the house. Me personally, I'd rather wake up, shower, then leave! Just wondering if she was the only person who has an issue with this.

As long as they're hung up so they can dry I don't see a problem. I do confess to changing the sheets the day we're going on vacation. Something about coming back to my own bed with nice clean sheets really helps with the end of vacation blues.

I guess it would depend on your definition of "laying around". If by "laying around", you mean wet and sitting on the floor.....then yes, I would have a problem with it. But if they were hung up to dry, then I guess I wouldn't have too much problem with it.

But, in our household, we only use a towel for 1 shower/bath. And after its use....it gets washed.

If a wet towel is left wet crumpled up on the floor, it will become mildewey (nice word).

I admit that I clean like crazy before vacation, but I do let people shower in the morning! If towels are properly hung, they will dry quickly.

If we shower the morning we leave, we hang them. I try to get my family to shower the night before, so I can wash and dry them, but it doesn't always work.

I'm with your mom. Before we go on vacatione the entire house has to be cleaned. Of course the kids all help. Nothing worse that coming home to a house that's not tidy. Just me, but it makes me feel like I never left.

Before we leave for vacation I'm lucky if I'm able to get packed without forgetting my bras and children. I also have to get pet supplies ready for the pet sitter (and the dogs to the kennel, unless they are staying home) and I like to get the house somewhat picked up. If I can do this without wringing the necks of my kids who act like they can't pack a bag and my husband, who acts like he can't load a suitcase into the van without putting a heavy suitcase on top of a light one, I'm happy. As long as the wet towels are hung up and not left in a heap on the floor and the doors to the bathroom and laundry room (where the litterboxes are) are open, I'm overjoyed! I'm really easy to please if my family just works with me. :rotfl2:

But no, showers don't have to be taken the night before (with teenage sons, I'm happy if they shower anytime), and towels don't have to be washed. But don't dare leave a dirty dish in the sink. :sad2: :)

As long as they're hung up that's fine. But I wouldn't leave them in a pile on the floor. Yuck. We were going out of town a few weeks ago and the power went out before we left. I had a load of kitchen towels and rags in the washer but didn't put them in the dryer before the power went out. I had to take out the "hundreds" of rags and drape them over something to dry so they wouldn't get all gross. HUGE pain!

As long as they are hung up to dry I don't see a problem.

I have a lot of cleaning/vacation prep quirks (clean sheets on the beds, wash all the laundry, put out fresh towels), but not having wet towels when I leave isn't one of them. Just hang them up on the towel bar (as we usually do) and the towel will dry.
