We will be staying there in Aug. Has anyone stayed here before? Rooms, pools, food courts, easy in and out, distance to WDW. Any and all hints would be great!!

I may be biased since I own there. The 2 bedroom units are large, 3 TVs, washer, dryer full kitchen. Any problem I have had was handled my maintenance within a short time.

The only food they have on site is Pizza Hut plus a small deli. It is right off 192 so you have access to many restaurants within a short distance. You will be about 1 mile from the Disney entrance off 192. Should take about 10 - 15 minutes to get there.

There are many pools on site.

Pluses: Excellent amenities as far as little boats to rent, tennis court, nice kids playground, extensive grounds. Cool little train deal that runs around the resort from point to point. Big villas, well equipped kitchen. One or our bathrooms had recently been added and was beautiful. Very helpful front desk staff. My 2 yo would point out the huge TV in the living room. Beds were very comfortable. If you need to use a high chair, they are very new, spotlessly clean and normal high chairs like you would have at home. Portacrib was also spotless and smelled freshly cleaned. Lots of pools so very close to just about every location. Plenty of towels, dishwashing deterg., hot pads etc were provided.

Negatives: Biggie was our villa had a bad odor that they never resolved. In the villa we were in, the whole living room/kitchen/entry area was ceramic tile which created a very loud living space. When one child was up, everyone was up. And they were having a problem with the smoke alarms. We called down to the desk because ours was going off intermittently and they said they would send someone to check it out. No one ever came, but about a half an hour later I was loading the car and noticed lots of maintenance type people. From overhearing their conversation, I thought they were going to set them off on purpose. I asked one of the guys if that was the plan and he said yes. When I asked if they didn't think it would be a good idea to let the guests in those villas know that ahead of time, I just got a blank stare. Whatever. Got my little guys out before they got the bejeebers scared out of them.

We're looking into timeshares and Westgate invited us to stay and check them out. The price was too hard to turn down for 7 nights. I just don't want to be burned by the "too good to be true" slogan. We're not too hard to please. A little savings in lodging can be spent this trip on other things like Ill. cruises or even one or two more character meals. We do have to take a tour and do the timeshare spiel on the morning before we leave. I just hope it's not too pushy when it comes to saying yes or no to their presentation. Anyone have experiences with their timeshare presentation? Thanks, Brent

They are very pushy. Just stand firm and say no. You will be required to stay for the 90 minutes. They will bring over a supervisior who has to sign something for the salesperson. Just keep an update attitude and dont get worked up over it. They are just doing their job.

Westgate has the reputation as the worst timeshare presentation as far as pushiness. They will try everything they can to get you to buy but dont do it even if you like the place. You can buy resale for much less.

Oh no, I just went through a timeshare spiel with the marriot hotel chain and I thought they were bad. My wife and I will just go in saying no,no,no..... As long as I go in knowing this I can prepare for this much better. I was caught off guard with Marriot since it was our first timeshare experience. Thank you very much for the inside info!!

We have done the Marriott timeshare spiel and they are a piece of cake compared to Westgate. Westgate was our first time we ever toured a timeshare and it was not a fun time.

Badger Brent,

We are doing the exact same thing at the end of March. I will let you know how it goes. I have heard they are pretty tough but if you keep saying NO then it's worth it... I also found out by LAW they cannot keep you longer than 90 mins... So I will definately pull this out on them if they try to keep us..

What you have to remember you should not feel OBLIGATED at all to entertain their offers regardless of the deal you received. This is their job and if you go into thinking that they are making a TON of money off of unsuspecting people then you should have no problems telling them NO...

Wendy

Definitely remember that they will try to make you feel guility for the deal you got and the "food" etc. if you dont buy.
