westgate vacation villas

we are leaving on feb 27 and trying to find out if there are any bldgs better than another any recomandations would be greatly appreciated

I stayed at Westgate my very first trip to Disney three years ago. The place is beautiful; however, the parking situation was terrible. Several nights coming home late from Disney, we had to park several buildings away and then a shuttle drove us to our assigned building. It appears that Westgate misjudged the whole available parking situation when the place was built. We never went back.

I was just at Westgate Villas 2 weeks ago and had a wonderful time. We stayed in Building VVE which was all the way in the back of the resort but was really no problem to get to and there was plenty of parking. I think that they are renovating and the ones all the way in the back where we stayed have just been finished. The reason I think this is because we had an elevator that looked fairly new and we didn't see any other elevators in any of the buildings around us. So maybe you could ask for a newly renovated one.
My kids loved the Villas (ages 8,5, and 16 months) We actually had a loft in ours with 2 couches that my DD8 and DS5 slept on. They thought it was great to have their own room with their own TV. They also really enjoyed the big jacuzzi tub. Our first night there they put their bathing suits on and went swimming in it. We brought bubbles and that made it even more fun. We did go swimming once and we were the only ones in the pool because it was like 60 degrees outside. That was warm for us, it was 10 degrees at home. But the water was like bath water. It was kept at like 85 degrees or something. The swimming was actually DS5 favorite part of the trip. And no one bothered us for a "maintnence meeting" (sp?) Our phone was blinking with messages but everyone I knew would have called my cell phone so I didn't even bother seeing who it was. They had a complimentary breakfast poolside on Tues and Thurs which included muffins, danishes, bagels, cereal, and coffee, milk, and OJ. There was also a farewell BBQ on friday afternoon but we were at the parks so we missed it. We didn't really have time to explore the resort as much as we would've liked to but it really was a nice place, the people were helpful and nice, and we overall give it a thumbs-up despite what alot of the reviews on this board say. Have a great trip and if you have any questions I will do my best to answer them.

We stayed there last August in one of the buildings in the back also; I think it was EE or FF. the buildings get a letter as they are built, so the A building would be the oldest, going through z, then starting at AA again. I've heard the older buildings are showing their age, the one we stayed in was great, but no loft. We didn't have to do a "maintenance" meeting either.

We are going to be there the same week. We leave on the 27th from Long Island. We are in the KK building as we own that week. The last post was correct, the higher letters, the newer. However, I dont think you have a choice but rather they just assign you a unit.

When we were checking in, we asked for a newer unit; they had one available, and gave it to us. It never hurts to ask nicely.

We have never had a parking problem at Westgate. If you come in late, you might not get the space directly in front of your unit, but we would get one pretty close. Certainly not far enough to have to use a shuttle.

Westgate is a nice place to stay at, the location is wonderful, just don't buy into it and have to pay the maintainance & taxes!!!

i allready own a timeshare and traded in to westgate i was thinking i could ask for a bldg and hope i may get it
