Hello! My friend was offered a time share package through a resort called Westgate. Something like $362 for the entire week. She could also buy discounted Disney tickets. She seems a bit aprehensive. Does anyone have any knowledge on this resort or time share pitch? Thanks in advance!! :goodvibes

We did this last summer at Westgate Lakes Resort & Spa (there are multiple Westgate properties in Orlando, and I am guessing that all of them will offer the same type of discounted stay with an obligatory timeshare presentation). Our rate was slightly higher....$483 for a 7 night stay with VIP passes for all resort amenities....but we also opted for a two bedroom, two bathroom villa. I know one bedroom and studio villas were even cheaper.

Our villa was lovely, we were placed in a great location and we loved the resort. The timeshare presentation, however, was less than enjoyable. Another guest described the salesmen as "relentless" and he was right on the money. The 90 minutes originally stipulated was well over 3 hours. We were "escalated" from the initial salesperson who gave us the tour of the sample unit and property to 3 other managers, who became higher pressure and sleazier (and angrier at our "no's") as we were passed from person to person. The tour started late (we actually had to ask a greeter at the Smokehouse Grill to PLEASE find our salesperson so we could get the show on the road, more than 20 minutes after the promised start time). And after we finally freed ourselves of the sales people, they left us stranded at the main building (our car was still at the Smokehouse Grill, on the far side of the property) and wouldn't provide us with a ride back. Absolutely classless.

All that said, the resort was great and the "resort preview" was the only unpleasant part of the stay.

Never do a Westgate timeshare presentation.

It is not worth the cost to you.

these people are sharks and are only interested in separating you from your money - they will lie and guarantee your stuff that just won't happen.

avoid them at all costs.

that say a stay at Westgate w/o their timeshare presentation is a good deal. Just be sure you don't have to attend any sales pitch.

A few years back our accommodation choice was undergoing building work & we were transferred to Westgate Lakes Resort & Spa. The apartment was wonderful, I cannot fault it. It far surpassed anywhere we had stayed at the time & we stayed in Villas mostly.

Since we had been transferred there & not actually booked there we weren't forced into any sales meeting, though we were pestered night & day by our sales person. Which is rightly annoying as we hadn't chosen to stay here & were transferred there. Which they did not understand. To make things worst a member of the family was being treated for cancer whilst we were there & so coming home to messages on the phone every day was stressful because we always feared the worst. Even with all that & our refusal to engage the salespeople they would not give in.

We would not stay there again as the constant badgering was not worth the facilities. If you're considering buying in great, if not. I'd miss it & spend more to stay elsewhere.

We stayed there in March of last year after a terrible experience with a different resort booked through Expedia. Expedia put us in the Westgate Resort for about $100/night. It was a beautiful resort, but I second the comments about the relentless salesmen. Our sales presentation lasted over three hours as well (with two kids under 10 in tow). After several attempts to politely decline their timeshare, finally I just told our salesman flat out that we were "too poor". :rolleyes1

Parking was also a HUGE issue for us as we were there over spring break and it was packed.

I found out something at my last timeshare stay in Daytona. We were there with a cheer group and other couples were attending the pesentation to get the free gifts. We were not offered to attend the presentation so we tried to attend to get the freebies as well. We were told we could not attend because Florida law (ha ha) says that both husband and wife has to be present. Ya.. so you can sign the deal in one shot! Since it was me and another cheer mom, they were not interested in us. So if you are married, but say "not to each other" (ha ha) they won't be interested in you. Only single people and married couples. I am a Florida resident and many of my friends has bought real estate without the other spouse present as long as they came within three days to sign. I even asked this hotel (Wyndham Ocean Walk) what if I had a power of attorney to sign for my husband. They were clueless and admitted they had never been asked but didn't think it was good enough! Our friends told us to go back later to another rep and say we were a female married couple so we could attend. LOL. I said no to that.

I just googled and found this:

We own at Westgate Lakes and Resorts, while we have always enjoyed our stay there, we would never buy into a timeshare ever again!! Its sounds like a great deal, but I always say if its sounds to good to be true it usually is. So for this situation they will have to pay the price by taking away there vacation time and relentless sales pitches, that to me is not worth my time, unless they r clearly going into buy. If they want to buy contact me..sell it really cheap.

westgate is for sale lots of time for $0 - just to get rid of them - finally got rid of mind to a charity - a couple of years ago.

so happy to have gotten rid of it.

of course you can go in with this
http://tug2.com/timesharemarketplac...roomsMin=&BathroomsMax=&SleepsMin=&SleepsMax=

if it is not sorted - click on resort -
then all westgate will be at the bottom - some have the maintenance fees - Westgate is horrible on maintenance fees - because they charge the same fees for summer/spring season - as off-season.

so in effective you are paying for the on season.

also for me - this is a big one - you can get Westgate cheap - not only from II and RCI - but from Westgate itself.

so why would anyone buy? Westgate can't or won't understand that Westgate sales force & management itself - is the biggest problem.

I'm with everyone else, don't do it! We were "gifted" a week there from a relative as a wedding gift for our honeymoon. We declined the tour at check in and were placed in the oldest section of the resort. We dealt with the shabbiness and just figured it hadn't been rehabbed yet. At the end of the week they said we had to sign off on some papers to check out. They took us to the newer units to show us what we could have had. After spending hours with 3 different managers trying to explain we were newlyweds and not interested they tried telling me my new husband would be dead before he was 40 because he wouldn't take a vacation. Nice!

We stayed at Westgate Resorts for a week awhile back. It was a great deal. Part of it did include a sales pitch and they will try to sweeten the deal but if you just say no and walk away that's it. We had lunch there and got a gift certificate for dinner next door and some others things. We were expecting lots of pressure but if you say no they will get the message.
