we stayed in the villas just as they were building those big tower things. They had just become Westlake from Sonesta Village.

We had a one bedroom, which was just fine, if a little aged and tacky. The lake was nice, and overall it wasa good place to stay for less, and spread out a little.

About 9 every morning the place is taken over by an infestation of what my DH and DS called "hustlebuggies" -- little golf carts filled with timeshare hostages doing their time. They aimed for small children on the paths.

the staff was lackluster, the kids program a joke, and the "guest services" an English as a non-language nightmare. The whole thing felt pretty sleazy, and we felt pretty sleazy being there.

In 99 we stayed at the Vistana resort, which was much nicer. I would go to Vistana again, but not Westlake.

We spent 10 days there last January, and were very pleased with the resort. We were in one of the big buidings, but I remember them as only 3 or 4 stories high, certainly not towers. Our two bedroom suite was very spacious and the furnishing were very nice. The master bedroom was enormous and had a jacuzzi tub and shower in it. The kitchen was well supplied with pots and pans, dishes and kitchen gadgets and it was great having insuite laundry. I was a little worried about being pestered to go on a "time share" tour, but we declined at checkin and never heard anything more about it. We found the staff friendly and courteous. The childrens program was adequate (face painting, crafts etc) but we were too busy to enjoy them. There was also one of those tents on site that sells discount Disney stuff. I don't know if that was permanent or was just there temporarily. We enjoyed the proximity to IDrive and it's numerous eating places, as well as the easy drive to Disney, US, and SeaWorld. I also zipped over to the factory outlets a couple of times! This year we stayed at the Enclave Suites (another story for another time) and we kept comparing it to Westgate Lakes. We got very spoiled at the Lakes and were extremely disappointed with the Enclave. If you have more questions email me.
