Westgate Lake Resort & Spa

We recently purchased a Disney vacation at a charity auction. The accommodations include a two bedroom villa at Westgate Lake. Has anyone stayed at this resort? What are your overall thoughts? How is the transportation to the parks? Is it kid friendly? We will have one three year old princess with us and we are trying to make her first trip (and our first in 30 years) as magical as possible!

We stayed there in August 2012.

Overall thoughts: our unit was spacious but somewhat dated. We had a great location overlooking the lake and adjacent to the mini golf/paddle boats/basketball court/Citrus pool but the resort is HUGE so other buildings were not nearly as convenient to the amenities.

Unless you own, you need to pay for many of the activities (pretty much everything but the pools) or buy a weekly pass.

People frequently report problems finding parking close to their building. We had no issue during our stay.

Avoid the sales presentation if at all possible. Its excessively high pressure.

There's a Walmart very close by, which is handy.

What i did, which was effective, was i unplugged the resort phones or put them on silent mode.

Yes, we were in a two bedroom. The master has the king bed, Roman tub, and access to the balcony. The 2nd bedroom has two double beds and its own bath.

We were in building 500....it was a great central location, and the room had a lovely view.
