Western Way

I am driving down to WDW this Sunday. I will be taking I-75 to the Turnpike. I will be using exit 267A from the Turnpike to go to Western Way, Does anyone know the name of the road at that exit from the Turnpike?

When you get on the Turnpike look for 429-West. It is a toll road. You will be on this four-lane toll road (nice, quiet) for about 10-15 minutes until you get to the WDW exit -- this is Disney's Western Way. In a couple miles you will enter the resort area, just west of Coronado Springs Resort on Buena Vista Drive. If you go left on Buena Vista Drive you will head towards the rest of WDW resorts, downtown Disney, etc.

Unfortunately the system won't let me paste a copy of the road sign/shield here, but you can view a bit of information about TOLL 429 (Western Expressway) on Wikipedia at: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Florida_State_Road_429

Then read the section pertaining to Section C of the road. That tollroad shield is the exit to look for while on the Turnpike and the control cities on the sign are "APOPKA / TAMPA". Head south on 429 in the Tampa direction and then exit at the "DISNEY WORLD / HARTZOG ROAD" exit and follow the signs into WDW.

If this is a real time saver or not? We're driving from St. Louis in November. We usually take I-75 to the Turnpike and get off at US 27 and take that to 292 (it's loads faster than taking the Turnpike all the way to I-4 and making your way to Disney). In other words, what I'm trying to figure out is does Western Way make more sense than US 27 to 292?

Many thanks!

Karen, I think you're thinking of 192 (as in US192), not 292. Yes, you can still take US27 south to US192 and head into the WDW that way. This route is free and the exit off the Turnpike only costs $1.25 versus $2.50 staying on the Turnpike plus another $1.00 if you take the new TOLL 429 or another $.50 if you exit onto I-4. The only problem with US27 is that there has been tremendous growth over the past few years in Clermont, south Lake County and northern Polk County. So there are now quite a few traffic lights and there can be a lot of traffic. But the route still works and it's not that bad.
The new TOLL 429 toll road actually goes past WDW and currently ends at US192, about 5 miles or so east of where US27 and US192 meet. One is free, the other costs money. The expressway route might save you 10-15 minutes and expressways are generally safer. But your route still works.
