has anyone done the trolley tour through DCL. and if so, does it allow passengers to get on/off at various stops? i know if you do it on your own, they do, but have read somewhere that through DCL, you won't...is that correct?

thank you! :wave2:

If you are referring to the Trolley in Key West I believe that you can get off and on. Now the Conch Train you are stuck on the whole time. I don't know if you really need to book an excursion through DCL it is so easy to walk up and buy your own tickets and have more freedom for the day. There are museums and an aquarium, the butterfly farm, etc...

I agree...just book this on your own. The office is within walking distance of the ship, and availability is constant.
The conch train does do one stop at a gift shop. The trolley stops at all the major attractions, and you can board another one later. But at crowded times, there might not be room so you might find yourself waiting for a couple of trollies to go by if no one gets off. The only stop we got off at was the Southernmost Point for the requisite photo. We wanted to go to Hemingway's House, but we just walked back there after we were done with the trolley. I had to see those polydactal cats!

Does anyone know what the cost is for the trolley tour if you do it on your own (vs. DCL)? Thanks

The trolley cost is about $7.00 a day but well worth it for it is all over the island of Key West - the conch train gives the history of Key West and Barb is correct - they have one pit stop - it can be very boring for children and then some adults who are not interested in history of my island.
If I can help further, just drop me a note at snelsonbrown@aol.com.
Always a conch

The trolley is an option, but if you are just looking for transportation to see Key West and to get on and off, I would recommend the Bone Island shuttle (run by the same people as the trolley). It is an air conditioned mini-bus that has two different routes available. It is only $7.00 per person for the day, or about 1/3 the cost of the trolley or train. They also sell discounted admissions to get into the Hemingway House. Also, the shuttle is the only air conditoned vehicle of the three major options.
