Cherie..we had a heat advisory here..I believe in Nans county only..which is funny cause it's hot ALL OVER, but I guess their more special down there. ;) The weatherman this morning said "there's a heat advisory in the south bay, but it's going to be hot everywhere so thats silly" it was funny to see him say that and roll his eyes.

The Nat. Weather Service says it's been in the mid 90's, but I was driving out to my house today and saw a Time & Temp. sign that said 102º! Keep in mind that the elevation here is over 5000'!

I just checked for Scottsdale and here is what was posted:

AN EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM MST /8 PM PDT/ THIS EVENING. AN EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 10 AM MST /10 AM PDT/ TO 8 PM MST /8 PM PDT/ SATURDAY. AN EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 10 AM MST /10 AM PDT/ TO 8 PM MST /8 PM PDT/ SUNDAY.

A STRONG UPPER LEVEL HIGH PRESSURE SYSTEM RESPONSIBLE FOR THE HOT CONDITIONS THIS WEEK HAS STRENGTHENED A BIT TODAY...AND WILL STAY STRONG THROUGH SATURDAY...THEN WEAKEN SLIGHTLY ON SUNDAY. AS A RESULT... EXPECT NEAR RECORD HIGH TEMPERATURES OF 111 TO 117 DEGREES TODAY AND SATURDAY...AND HIGHS OF 109 TO 115 DEGREES ON SUNDAY. THE HIGH TEMPERATURE AT PHOENIX SKY HARBOR AIRPORT IS FORECAST TO BE 114 DEGREES TODAY AND SATURDAY...AND 112 DEGREES SUNDAY.

WHAT THE HECK?! I had no idea temps ever reach that high ANYWHERE! Holy crap! :faint: I've been known to pass out when it gets above 90, so I'd probably not survive out there.

Yeah, I guess Nan lives in the NICE neighborhood!!!

Well, like they all say, "It's a dry heat"...

Earlier this week when I was in Scottsdale, I was walking from my car to the movie theater and my skin felt like it was going to spontaneously burst into flames. The word "searing" comes to mind...

That is high :scared1: I'm glad you aren't in that heat.

Darn it, every time I think I'll pop on for a few minutes and catch up before posting, I get distracted with something else. I've given up on tyring to catch up before posting. I'm just gonna jump on in here. We're firmly entrenched back into "normal" life, although almost every day one of us says, "I miss the ship...." (Or in Erik's case, " I miss MY ship..." Tis the season here and every weekend we've had multiple graduation parties to attend. Life is just SO busy. I miss the quiet "nothing pressing to do" days on the Magic, sitting in a lounge chair looking for green lanyards!

Hi Jan......thanks! The graduation was good. My legs however are not. Since we're back from vacation and off the steroids again, they are sooooooooo very swollen and leaking and yuck! Gotta just take care of them by using the leg wraps and the edema sleves and getting back into a routine. It's a slow process so it will take some more time. Thanks for asking.

OH, Deb, I'm SO sorry they're bothering you again! You looked like they were doing well when we saw you with Woody in Redondo Beach. I'll keep you in my prayers!

And to make my day perfect, after work, before picking up the monitor, I went to Cold Stone Creamery for free ice cream cake and smoothies! I had 3 pieces of cake (3 different kinds) and 2 smoothie samples (1 blueberry/pineapple & 1 strawberry/banana). Stuffed myself and LOVED IT! :cloud9:

Hmm.. Is this the free deal you mentioned yesterday? Is that going on at all Coldstones or just there in Michigan? Maybe I should hop on over to my local one and ask. A & W had free root beer floats on Monday! YUM! Haven't had one of those in YEARS!

NAN WINS !!!

Ihave had this Blackberry for a couple weeks and I have been calling it a Raspberry because it is red and NAN is the first one to comment on the DIS or in person !!!

I just figured I was behind the times! They have the Blacberry Pearl, and the Blackberry Curve, and I just figured they were calling this one the Raspberry!!! Shows you how much I know!

You can call me broke too. We can make a new club for broke people and stay at our friend's house instead of hotels :lmao:

Hey, it can be like a progressive dinner! A progressive vacation! I LIKE IT! I vote for Marilyn's house....Oh, wait...that's right we're too broke to get there....HMMM... Nan's? Oh, wait, they're on fire up there......I guess we'll have to start at your house!!!! Break out the poker chips!

So I've decided to be lazy and NOT mow.......AGAIN. :rotfl2: Can you tell how much I hate mowing? And I don't even have a big yard! The front takes 10 minutes and the back takes 1/2 hour. Plus weedwhacking. So there're really no reason not to, but I just hate it. And now, since the back yard hasn't been mowed since my neighbor did it while we were on the cruise, I'm afraid there will be little toads and critters that I'll run over with the mower and that will gross me out and/or make me cry! :scared1: I guess I'll try really hard to force myself tomorrow morning and then I can enjoy the rest of the weekend!

I must have missed something in my frantic skimming! What happened to hiring the neighbor boy for $15? Sounds like a great deal to me!

Thanks for the ideas. Don't feel bad, Brooke said she was bored every day on the cruise too. It isn't possible to make her happy. I worry about that instant gratification era because it makes me wonder what they'll do as teenagers and young adults.

My best friend always told her kids (and mine!), "You're not bored, you're BORING!" Now all of our kids know better than to use the "b" word or they'll get that lecture!

Okay, I'm going to TRY to keep up here.

Unfortunately we're not going to make it on the Tortola cruise after all. We "have" to go to Hawaii next year for Alison's choir concert, so that's going to eat up all the vacation $$ for then.

We ARE going to WDW this December (8-16) to christen our brand new DVC membership! Anyone going to be there during that time???

Missing everyone!

Speaking of movies, I saw "Young@Heart" today. You MUST see it if you have the chance. Very entertaining, very touching.

There's nothing like a cold, dark movie theater when it's really hot outside!:rotfl2:

I think the heat in SoCal is miserable! You have a humidity factor that AZ doesn't have.

So we can't have the slumber party in August then because it is hotter!

I thought it was worse on CC than in Scottsdale. You have to remember there isn't any humidity.
