West Wing?

I just saw a commercial for next week's show, and it shows Leo falling down to the ground clutching his chest. I remember one of the last two shows last season where the Pres. wife asked Leo about his blood pressure. I wonder if Leo is fixing to bite the dust. This could poss move the blonde woman into his position, which she seems to be doing anyway. I can't wait until next week.

That's exactly what I am wondering, momsgonwild. I wonder if Leo is going to have a heart attack on the grounds and she will step right up. I was amazed last night, watching the show, at how much older all the characters look. They all look like their jobs are killing them!!

Since Josh is Deputy Chief of Staff, I think it's more likely he will step in as Acting Chief of Staff. Cmdr. Harper will probably stay in that role as Asst. to the NSA. I think her main role is to show the wedge that is being driven between the Prez and Leo, adding to his stress and leading to whatever it is that's going to happen to him.

I was just going to write the same thing!

And as much as we all want Donna & Josh to get together, technically they couldn't. He's her boss--it could be seen as a very bad idea, almost (if you go by strict defination) sexual harrassment. I know in my company, 2 co-workers were dating and when she got a promotion, he moved to another group so she wasn't his supervisor.

I thought about that with Josh and Donna too. But she was wanting more responsibility, that is how she ended up being with the senitors. So maybe they will get together and then she will get another, better job. But ofcourse stay on the show because I like her!;) :teeth:

Put me in the shipper column for Josh and Donna, but with where it looks like Leo is headed, it may be impossible for Donna not to have Josh as her direct supervisor, no matter what new job she gets. Although, if they have to sneak around, think of all the other plot lines the writers would have. And since John Wells is given to melodramatics (look what he's done with ER - it's crisis of the week on that show), it'd give him another scandal to reveal when he's desperate for a new idea.

I read somewhere that CJ Craig is going to be moving up to Chief of Staff and Josh may be leaving.

Maybe Josh is re-evaluating his life and may move on.

Gotta love West Wing!

If Brad Whitford leaves, I'd probably stop watching. The show's already lost its magic with the writing; I'm just hanging in there because I love the characters.

Same here! And I too miss Sam, he brought something special to the show. He was always so optimistic! If anyone else leaves, on top of the way writing has gone down hill since Sorkin left, I just don't think I'll bother watching anymore.

I hate it when too many original cast members leave a show. It's why I stoped watching ER, no one is left except Carter and Susan, and Carter is leaving half-way through this season anyway. I'll tune in for his last show, but I haven't watched ER on a weekly basis since Mark Greene died.

I think Allison Janey said on a Today Show interview that she would be moving into the acting Cheif of Staff position when Leo has a heart attack.

I also miss the old writers. It hasn't been the same, but I keep watching anyway.

They are showing Jimmy Smits as a new character. Who is he going to portray?

He's going to be a Democratic Congressman running for the Presidency. Since he's committed to another show as well, I don't think he's going to be on for long.

This is what I have read about what is going to be happening this season. The election between Alda and Smitts really hinges on whether or not Martin S signs on for another year or not. His contract comes up and he has to tell them by the end of the year. If he doesn't come back next year they will have campaigning starting in January. Leo has a heart attack and CJ takes over. Josh goes and works for Smitts I think or maybe the old VP in their bid for President. That no longer makes him Donna's boss so that opens up that story line. I really don't know or care what happens to Leo as he is my least favorite of the characters. I wish they would bring Sam back as the new chief of staff. Rumor has it that Alda will be elected as a Rep president to kind of show the other side of things. I guess if that happens there would be a new cast of characters. What has happened to Nancy? I really liked her and they have never shown her old assistant before. What happened to the council's office ie Matthew Perry?

Also I must have missed the president giving Leo the okay because I felt like Leo looked like he was doing something he was not authorized to do. Maybe that is what brings on the heart attack. I hope it proves to be a better season this year than last. With Sorkin gone the snappy dialogue that he is known for was gone. The dialogue really reminded me of Sports Night another of Sorkin's shows that was a favorite of mine.

Hey that fits. I have the complete Sports Night series on DVD. The dialog was sooo fast and the quips so smart that I often have to back up to catch the meaning, lol. I loved that show and was sad when they didn't renew. I liked the actor from 6 Ft Under much better on Sports Night.

I'd like to see Matthew Perry be a regular but I don't care much for Jimmy Smits. It's hard to see AA as a Republican! I think it would be cool to bring back John Goodman to run for the Rep candidate for president. I think he's pretty busy however with two shows going already.

I also have the Sports Night DVD and pull them out every now and then when I want to see a smart show. Also did you know that Josh Malina from both WW and SN is the producer of the Bravo Celebrity Poker? I noticed his name the other night.

John Goodman would be great. I loved the line from his first show "I don't care if it is my mother going to visit her mother if the plane doesn't respond shoot it down."

It will be interesting to see how it all plays out this season. martin S seems to be tiring of the role.

I think Alan Alda as a Republican could be interesting...it would shake things up a bit, challenge people's assumptions. I think because most people know him for his role in MASH that leaned liberal (against the war, etc.), it doesn't immediately ring true. But he is a fantastic, seasoned actor and I think he can pull it off. Maybe it will give the new writers something to grow towards.

Yeah! Bring back John Goodman!

I loved how they set him up as a power/bad guy and then he came through as a willing American servant. He also has the acting skills to hold his own with the other West Wing characters. I really liked his work on the show.

I'm not sure about this story line. It takes some effort to keep up with the Gaza scenario and it is becoming a bit drawn out. I prefer the show to be more focused on the characters with the scenario as the backdrop. With this one, you need to keep up with the politics to follow the individual character developments. (However, still being on pain killers from 2 surgeries could be influencing my mental capacity!)

The new writers are definitely different.
