Only 1 month to go until my first Disney Cruise! I am traveling w/ my DH, son (7yrs), and son (5yrs). We are also traveling w/ 8 other families. I would love to hear from some of you that have been on the excursions in Cabo and Mazatlan. (Our 6 day cruise will not be going to Puerto Vallarta.) Kid Friendly??

Also, I'm scared about getting seasick. I went on a cruise in the Caribbean about 20 yrs ago and was sick the whole week. The patch didn't work. Please let me know how calm/uncalm the waters are. Also if you have any secret remedies!! My 7 yr old is also very sensitive to motion. He gets car sick easily, etc.. What do I give him??

I made my reserv at Palo and now want to make reserv for the brunch there. Can I do this??

Any other tips would be appreciated! :earsgirl:

Hi PoohJanice  We're on the same cruise! I made both dinner & brunch for Palos online at the DCL website. You should be able to add brunch there if they still have slots available.

I ALSO EXPERIENCE SEASICKNESS. I HAVE BEEN ON THE MAGIC THREE TIMES WITH MY FOURTH CRUISE SCHEDULED THIS COMING SATURDAY THE 18TH. THE FIRST TIME I TOOK DRAMAMINE AND SLEPT THRU THE ENTIRE CRUISE. IT WAS A FOUR DAY CRUISE TO NASSAU AND CASTAWAY CAY. ON OUR NEXT CRUISE WE DID THE WESTERN CARRIBEAN 7 DAY. I TRIED BONINE AT THE ADVICE OF MY PHYSICIAN. I ALSO SLEPT QUITE A BIT BUT FELT ONLY SLIGHTLY OFF STILL HAD SOME WAVES OF NAUSEA. IN DECEMBER WE DID THE EASTERN CARRIBEAN AND I DECIDED TO TRY NATURAL REMEDIES. I TOOK GINGER AND VITAMIN B COMPLEX EVERY NIGHT STARTING A FEW DAYS BEFORE WE LEFT. I FELT WONDERFUL. NO NAUSEA, NO FATIGUE AND VERY LITTLE FEELINGS OF BEING "OFF". GOOD LUCK WITH WHATEVER YOU DECIDE.

Hubby sailed the Pacific for over 12 years in the Navy and has some advise--the Pacific is much rougher than the atlantic so you might be more apt to feel sick. However, no matter how weird this sounds--be sure to keep your stomach full, that will help alot! And he suggests starting the bonine the day before you sail or at least first thing that morning. I have used bonine on last 2 cruises and did fine

See you on the Aug 20th repo! :cool1:

Just got back Saturday from the June 4th West Coast Cruise. In Mazatlan we did the Beach Escape. It would be great for a family. Basically you are taken to a hotel and have access to all their facilites and their beach for the day. Really Relaxing. They serve lunch and it is only about a block to shopping if you want to do some of that as well. There is also shopping at the port on your way to the tram to the boat.

In Cabo we did the Harbour Cruise. That was also a nice and relaxing excursion. There were several children on the boat and they appeared to be enjoying themselves.

We had a couple days of rough water. It was the first day and last day at sea. From what I have read from the other cruises this appears to be the trend for the water in this area. My friend who does get sea sick used the sea band (the one based on the preasure points) and was fine.

You should be able to book a Palo Brunch as well. It is so worth the money. Make sure you book it before you go.

Have a great time.

Research the pressure point method for preventing seasickness. Uncles are fishermen, and they swear by them. You can buy them at longs for like 6-7 bucks. We took them last time, but didn't need them. Maybe someone who has tried them can tell us if they really work. I won't be offended, as I have never tried. Maybe that would be a good thread to start.... hey.... I'll go do that!

I too took ginger without any problems and I tend to get seasick also. Just a question about the Vitamin B complex...I haven't heard of taking that one...would you mind sharing how many capsules/pills you took? Any natural remedy that works is a friend of mine? Also on the ginger did you take the recommended amount on the bottle or did you take more than that?

TIA!!!

We were on this cruise as well, and DD felt a little "dizzy" the first eve (lots of swaying on the ship...just as there was the last night!). DH went to guest services, and then to another location to obtain "Sea Calm" pills (in packages of 2). These are given to guests by request, free of charge. They work VERY well, as she took one pill every 12 hours as instructed. You may obtain this medicine as soon as you board the ship. Just inquire at guest services for this remedy.

As for PALO, it's SO easy to obtain ressies. You may call anytime onboard, and request to be "waitlisted" for a brunch or TEA (which I personally recommend). They will call you as soon as someone cancels...which is EVERY HOUR/DAY! We picked up a couple of extra ressies, just checking at the desk on our way OUT! Simple.

Enjoy the cruise!! I have friends taking the special 6-day cruise too. Should be magical! :wizard: Are they still scheduling PIRATE NIGHT for this cruise (since it was held as we left Puerto Vallarta)? The fireworks off the ship are always my favorite!

I'm also on the 6 day cruise and so far they aren't "saying" what they are cutting. Hopefully not the Pirate night! pirate: It's so popular and from what I've read it's on every 4 day cruise and up.

Thanks for the info regarding the "sea sick" meds they have on the ship. I'm hoping I won't need any but its good to know just in case. :bitelip:
