My family and I all have passports but another family we are traveling with does not. They are hoping to get by with bringing birth certificates and ID. Is this sufficient or should they get emergency passports? (We are leaving July 17th) Thanks for your help!

They can use their birth certificates..but, I know when you come back..you will be in different lines for exiting, as they separate the passport and birth cert people. Don't know about getting on the ship.

You might want them to check...there is another thread on this board in regards to the BC's from CA. It seems the cruise lines are not taking the BC that are not the "full" birth certificates (in CA - there are abstract BC) that do not have the seal.

I had to obtain a full certificate and luckily rec'd my daughter's passport in time for our cruise.

Better to check now then be surprised at the ship!

Good luck,

Desiree

Has anyone been told that if they are traveling out of the country after this month they have to have a passport? We were told there was a change and that for our February 06 cruise we'll have to have one.

The change goes into effect on 12/31/05, so that is why you are required to have one. TONS of posts on this, use the search if you want to see more info...
