West Bay Public beach in Grand Cayman?

I found a Grand Cayman website, and it recommended cruisers to take a cab to West Bay public beach, rather than book a beach excursion through the cruise ship. Has anyone done this? What is the beach like? I was thinking of trying this and would love feedback from anyone that has been here! Thanks!

I'm not sure about the public beach but we were just there on Tuesday and used NativeWay to go to Stingray City. Worth your time!!! They charge only 25-30 a person and you do not need to pay until on the boat. Have fun!!
