Were you an expensive child?

My sister and I both went to private school. My expenses came from gymnastics. I did gymnastics from 1st grade until 6th grade.

I would say I was middle of the road. I went to Private School for elementary school, but then started public school in 6th grade. I was involved in a lot of things, but nothing that was super expensive.

Not at all. I went to public school. My mom made my lunch every day. I wore sensible shoes and clothes.

No, not in any way. Though I guess the more usual expenditures add up too!

As far as school, no I went to public school K-12 (and beyond for that matter).

I was blessed to have everything I wanted (which I am sure was not cheap), was pretty much about the same as my peers.

Went to private school 12 years as did my 3 siblings but prices then are not what they are now.

Well, we only had to go to school through the eighth grade so I'd imagine I was less expensive than the norm for sure.

I went to public school and to a reasonably priced college. I was expensive in the sense I had braces (my teeth were very bad) and they weren't covered by insurance at the time. I also took dance for 10 years and many of those took several classes a week. I didn't realize it at the time but for several years that bill was a hardship for my parents.

No Felt kinda guilty when we would go to a restaurant (very rare occasion) and would order something inexpensive. Wound up receiving a *Poor Boy's State Scholarship* for college tuition that was taken away after my Father made too much $$$ when he got a second job and my Mother started working.

I don't think I would consider any child "expensive" for choices that were made by their parents. In my experience and observation, the child is not expensive, but the activities, environment, etc that the parent chooses may be expensive.

We were poor so there was not money available for any of the "extras". We did not have the option of being expensive because my parents would have just said no.

I did go to an expensive college, but I got scholarships and took out my own loans so my parents did not pay a penny toward my education (not even the application fee).

Well said. As a child I had no control over how expensive my schooling/extra curriculars/hobbies/clothing was - my parents did.

no private school, extracurriculars or such so no, i would'nt say i was.

on the subject of private school-in NO WAY at the $30k per year rate but my kids both went to private from k-8th because it was LESS expensive childcare wise than going to public school and doing traditional childcare. the public schools where my kids grew up had different schools within the same district running on different calendars so trying to coordinate that in addition to before and afterschool care (with transportation to/from school and daycare), minimum days, school breaks, summer vacations...it cost less to do an all-in program that was available at the private from 6 a.m.-6 p.m. m-f 12 months per year.

No. I did community sports in elementary school and band in middle school/high school.

So if a child goes to a fancy $30,000 a year school are they an expensive child? Or are the parents just pre paying for the high end retirement home ?
