DH and I are thinking seriously about buying a mini-van. Problem is, neither of us know anything about these vehicles. We'll most likely buy used--no older than 2001.

We'd appreciate some recommendations, advice, what to look for, what to avoid, etc.

Thanks!

I can only tell you we LOVE our Honda Odyssey

EVERYONE I know that has one loves it! I've driven one, it was nice, but I'm just not a "minivan" person...

I love my Odyssey as well! We have a 2000 and have never had problems :D

I wasn't a mini-van type of gal before either.

Another Odyssey fan here! We have a 2001 and we still love it.

chrysler town & country or dodge grand caravan. this company invented the minivan

We also love our Odyssey! Can't beat a Honda in terms of reliability!

Lovin my honda too. You just can't beat a honda

Toyota Sienna

100000 miles and no problems only general maintenance.

Mazda MPV fan here! My 2000 is still going strong.

I like my Dodge Grand Caravan. It has tons of room. If I had to buy another one right now, I would probably consider a Town and Country because they have come down so much in price recently.

I'm not a minivan person either but I do love my Chrysler Town and Country AWD too!! Bought it out of necessity when twins were born, lots of "stuff" to tote around - also have 2 German Shepherds and a mother who lives with us so I absolutely love the space it gives me. And like another poster, I have 108K miles and have never had a problem with it (knock on wood). Mine is a 98 so I'm not up on the latest features of the newer models. Not many minivans had AWD in 98 and that's why I originally picked it - I'm a night nurse and have to get to work in the snow. Wouldn't hesitate to buy another.

Buy a 4-door truck, or the Honda Odyssey or a trailblazer.

Driving a mini-van is like having a mullet

I have a Town & Country, I really like it BUT if I could buy a new one tomorrow - Odyssey hands down. I've always heard (not starting a debate) that Chryslers, Dodge included, start to break down as soon as the warranty wears off. So far, I'm at 48,000 miles with my 2000 T&C & no problems - knock on wood!

Definitly 100% Honda Odyssey. We have a 2000 and have NEVER had a single problem - just routine maintenance - oil change ect. Also love the third row folds into the floor - sooo easy. We have saved tons on delivery fees since we can now pick up any purchases - even a double bed fit in there!! Love it:Pinkbounc :bounce:

Hmmm...interesting. Looks like the top two are Town & Country and Odyssey.

We have an SUV and I love driving that. How does driving a mini-van compare? We're keeping the SUV. One of the reasons we're considering the van is that it would provide more room when the entire family wants to go to the same place. It would be nice to take only one vehicle.

Thanks for the input. I'm looking for as much information as I can get!!

Toyota Sienna. We've had our for over four years and it still looks and acts brand new. I love it more than my husband's toy that he bought last fall - Chrysler PT Cruiser.

I'd go with the Sienna. Toyotas never have problems. They are totally reliable. Consumer Reports always marks Toyotas as Best Buys.

We love our Grand Caravan and my parents have an Odyssey! Don't think you could go wrong with either of the two choices!

Jodi :D
