We're taking the train to Disney!!

We took the Amtrack from AZ to DL last year and it was ok. It was a field trip for my school so we got on the train at like 9pm and slept on the train and got to Anaheim in the morning. The seats were pretty comfy and after you got going you really couldn't feel the motion too much. It was nice to go sit in the observation car (with all the windows) in the early morning and watch the scenery.

I had no idea there was one from AZ to Anaheim.. can I ask how much it was and how long it took? I had no idea there was an amtrack here.

For costs you'd have to go to the reservations page on amtrak.com with dates in mind, since the costs vary. Sleeper car accommodations are quite a bit more, but include meals in the dining car.

As long as we are on this topic though, is there anyone here who is just enchanted by trains in general? I am. I just watched a video from Netflicks called "World Class Trains." It talks about the Royal Scotsman and a couple of the trains run by the Orient Express Company. I was just fascinated.

I think trains are great! I've only traveled on them once in the US. When I was young we took one from MN to Whitefish MT along Amtrak's northern route. As a child I thought it was so much better than a car. I've since traveled on trains in Europe including the bullet train in France and still think it's a wonderful way to go. Last Oct in Norway we took the train and saw such beautiful scenery that would have been completely missed if we had flown. It would be a lot of fun to travel on one of the "World Class Trains".

I totally like trains too, I have ridden so far the Skunk Train, and Cal Train ( hey it is a train) I need to get out more, for that is it so far!
There is the Napa Valley Wine Train, as far as I know, it is still in business, I am interested in riding it.
Who is joking? seriously I can drive anyone that is interested, I would love to be self-employed!
I do wish that Amtrak, offered a better train service from my county to Southern Ca, most definitely too much bus, not enough train!

The big THING about Trains, is they are hours and hours late getting anywhere! The Seattle train comes from Chicaco, it is always late. So, boarding in Seattle is late by an hour and by Portland you are 2 and 1/2 hours late. I can't Imagine what time you would get in to Anaheim??? The next day the day after more like??

And the train stops at San Fransisco. Then you have to pick it up some where in Oakland. You need friends with a car to get you across the bay to where the station is in Oakand.

It is the wasted time that slays me, I can be in Anaheim in 2 hour and at the Park by the 3rd hour!! While you are just leaving Portand?

I just looked it up and it is about $100 per person round trip, so for a family of 5 it is still better to fly an with the time it takes to get to anaheim and also you can get some straight flights to john wayne for about $30 more. This may be fun to do in the future when it there is no time tables...

I just looked up round trip fares for my family's trip and flying it would cost us over $1000, while the train would cost about $280.

Train, please! (Although we're probably driving.)
