We're taking Grandma on the Magic! May 2012 PTR!

I’m glad your DFi came around and ended up liking the trip last year. I’m hoping that will happen to my husband when we go for the first time in October. He thinks I’m a little crazy with my Disney obsession. We’ve been to Disneyland a few times but this will be our first trip to WDW and I’m hoping it will not be the last!

Yout PTR is awesome!!! Do you know what makes it the best PTR ever IMO. WE'RE GOING WITH YOU!!!! We're booked on the May 18, 2012 Magic too!!!! This will be my first cruise ever and I'm super excited!!!!! I guess I should start a PTR too!!!

Hey I'm going on this cruise too! It's my and my husband's first cruise... and we're surprising his parents, sister, and grandma for Christmas by paying their way. Flamestarrdust and kimberlyWDW, if you wanted to join our cruise meet thread, it's here: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2731194

Can't wait to follow along, and hopefully meet you guys on the ship!

I was really worried he wouldn't enjoy it but despite all the ups and downs we had, he really had a great time and bragged about it to everyone when we got home.

Oh wow! It is so great to meet someone who will also be there. I didn't think there would be anyone from the DIS on our cruise. Maybe we can have a DIS meet. :goodvibes

OMG! I will have to check that thread out. It is so exciting to meet others who will also be there! :goodvibes

I don't know if this is really an update or not but here goes anyway. Another reason, I really liked this cruise option is because of the Key West stop in the itinerary. In 2006 (a very busy travelling year for me :goodvibes), a friend and I went to Key West for Thanksgiving and had a blast. Ever since I reunited with DFi and the kids (long story), I have been constantly mentioning Key West to them. A couple years ago, I ordered Tortuga rum cakes to share with DFi for New Year's. That's a big deal because when I was in KW, I went to the Tortuga store and sampled all the different flavors of rum cakes and fell in love. I loved everything about Key West except maybe the wild night life (another long/short story). The food, the history, all of it was amazing and just made for a very fun time. So I can't wait to share all of that with my family. I promise I will share a few of my favorites from KW with all of you in the very near future. Now back to the continuation of my TR.

Day 5 - Our Second Day at Epcot:

After our late night, we slept until about 9:30am or 10am. While the girls ate poptarts, I went to the food court to refill my mug. After coming off the elevator, I noticed a hidden mickey on the wall. I took pics to share with my fam and all of you.

I also took a few pics of POP during my walk.

I waited near the pool for everyone to come down to join me and we decided to take some pics of the girls with Goofy's car.

Once we got to Epcot, we went directly to get FPs for TT but they were for much later in the day so we decided to go ahead and have lunch. Of course, I knew we were going to Sunshine Seasons. I had never tried it before but had heard great things about it. It was definitely worth it and so many different things to choose from.

DFi got the Pork Loin, Rice and Mashed Potatoes & Strawberry Shortcake for dessert:
DSC00871.jpg

He really liked this and we actually ended up eating off of each other's plates.

DSC00872.jpg

I got the spicy tuna noodles. I don't remember the exact name. They were located in the same section as the salads and were also served cold. DFi and I ended up sharing entrees because of just how spicy this was. I also don't remember the name of my dessert but it one of the best desserts I had the whole trip.

AJ got the half chicken, mashed potatoes and rice. Along with a muffin (no clue why she chose that which ended up being a decision she regretted. not because it tasted bad but because she wished she had chosen one of the scrumptious desserts instead).

Haylee was not feeling very well so she chose something small which is also her favorite, California roll sushi and a fruit tart:
DSC00874.jpg

She finished the sushi very quickly as usual but was not up to the dessert so AJ and I finished it for her. The heat was really getting to her which is why she wasn't feeling so great. So afterwards, we decided to board one of the boats to WS to cool off.

After getting off the boat, Haylee was still not feeling great. So despite groans of protest from AJ, we decided to make a pit stop indoors to check out the wonderfully air conditioned "American Adventures" show. While we waited for the show to start, we were able to see these folks perform.

This was something none of us had ever seen before but were delighted to get the opportunity. We also enjoyed the show and the AC did the trick to help Haylee feel much better.

Up Next, more cruise updates and more Epcot fun....

Great update! Last trip, I was impressed by the choir in the American pavilion. I don't recall having ever seen them before.

We had just arrived at WDW. I miss it so much!

Just a quick update for you. I just started school a week ago so I have been super busy with that and work. I will try to update as much as I can. I hope all of you are doing good and I will be back to post as soon as I can.

Great update! Last trip, I was impressed by the choir in the American pavilion. I don't recall having ever seen them before.

We were very impressed by them, too. I hadn't heard about them before I started planning the last trip and then someone on another TR mentioned them. I had wanted to see them along with the chinese acrobats but didn't have time to plan them in. We really lucked out in getting to see them. I was hoping to see them in December. I've heard lots of good things about them singing Christmas carols. You should try to check them out while you are there.

I know I mentioned in my previous post that I had just started school. I didn't mention my school schedule. I go to school all day on Mondays and Wednesdays and at night on Thursday. I had told my job I couldn't work on Mondays and Wednesdays so they scheduled me to work everyday that I am not in school including every other weekend. School just started on the 15th and I am already exhausted everyday. Plus my job is a good 30 minutes away from my home which is horrible when it comes to gas. So I decided to start applying to jobs closer to home. I have done this before with no luck. Today I started applying and the 3rd job I applied to hired me on the spot. :goodvibes Now I work every weekend from 5am-5pm and I'm off during the week. I can pick up extra days if need be but I explained I was in school so that aren't pressuring me to do it. Plus, I am also getting paid a bit more than my current job. Just thought I would share since this was really amazing news for me. I will be back to continue my cruise updates and the TR updates very soon. Hope you all are doing well.

I too have heard good things about their caroling. I hope to catch them in December

That sounds like awesome news. :woohoo:

I'm sorry it has been so long but I am back. We have had a lot going on with school starting for the kids and me, changing jobs and other life issues. I was also beginning to think this trip would not happen. But now that I know it will, I am going on with the rest of my TR so I can continue on with the PTR.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

After American Adventures, we decided to explore World Showcase. Here are some of the pics we took.

I have a big announcement since of course I've made another trip change. Before I let you in on it, I want to finish my TR.

So continuing on our 2nd day at Epcot:

We saw this little guy taking over the mini town and had to grab some pics

Next we decided to go to Yakitori House at the Japan Pavillion
to have dinner. The food was ok but we were not impressed and will not be eating there again. Especially since there are so many other food choices at Epcot. DFi is very picky about his Japanese food being authentic and in his opinion, this was not. The sushi was fine but the cooked food was not.

We made it just in time for the last showing. A few pics while we waited for the doors to open:

We didn't wait too long and there weren't too many people inside the show once it started. Haylee and AJ sat in different spots on the floor while DFi and I sat on one of the benches. This worked out well because Crush ended up talking to both girls and one or two other kids. It was a very funny show and we all had a great time. Afterwards, we wandered around the aquarium.
