I have waited too long to book a b-day trip in Nov. (4-9) and need to have a backup plan if the waitlist doesn't come thru. I have a reserve at WL but hope I can do better with a code or something. Any advice?

Thanks.

I'm also posting this on the resorts board.

Good luck.

That happens to be Jersey week and also Soap Opera weekend.

Waitlist at all DVC Orlando resorts. Something should come up as you approach 30 days, probably OKW, but then you'll have something and you can continue to waitlist at the others.

We also book at the Marriott Grand Vista, Sabal Palms or Royal Palms just to have a back-up. You can get some great rates. We got a 2BR in Aug for three nights for $425 plus two free Sea World tickets.

Thanks, joepoe.

What are the Marriott facilities like? My husband has a bunch of points that we can use at these places but have always stayed away because we were sure that they couldn't live up to DVC.

My inlaws own at the Grand Vista and they like it. It is across from the Fazio golf school/course and it is close to Sea World. And my dear MIL says no, it is NOT as nice as DVC. And I do not argue with my MIL.

Glad to hear JOEPOE doesn't agrue with my mom. Wouldn't do him any good! - lol

Anyway, you can check out all the MVC's on their web site - www.marriottvacationclub.com. They have floor plans and pics. My mom and dad used their points at Royal Palms. She said it was fine. They own 3 MVC's - Hawaii, HH, and somewhere in FL, but not Orlando. My sister owns at Grande Vista.
