The last time I drove over it was in 1991 and it was the day that Oakland/Berkley Hills went up in flames and all the houses burnt down, dreadful! Dramatic but aweful.

Flying on a sunny day 2001 was much better! You can have one of those little Ghiradellis mint choc squares for me while you and yours and there too

Well, we're now in sunny California. Except that it's not sunny! Other thann getting a bit damp today everything has gone to plan so far. Good flight, great hotel and stuffed out on a sundae at Ghiardelli's this morning. Hope you're all havingg fun back in Blighty.

SF is a bit renowned for it's damp and fog - sounds like you're having a great time regardless.

Good to hear it's all going well, that flight always seems about 2 hours too long to me
