After months of researching and soul searching (and years of wishing ;)) we have finally decided on moving to Orlando!!! We're going in Jan. to check out neighborhhoods to get an idea of where we want to live and we will be moving down there the beginning of Sept. next year  and of course we will be getting annual passports to WDW and SeaWorld :goodvibes

Congratulations! :goodvibes We've been here almost 4 years, moved from Memphis, and love it! Our cruise in March is on HAL. Ft. Lauderdale is only a 2.5 hour drive. ;)

Whooo hooooo! I love Orlando - UCF alumni and former CM here.

Where will you be working? You don't want to have to deal with a commute that involves I-4 during rush hours.

We are moving back to Orlando or to Tampa the summer of 2010. I can't wait! :cool1:

My DH is a UCF Alumni and former CM!!!

A work buddy moved his family from Illinois to Celebration several years ago and absolutely LOVES it. Be sure and check out the Celebration area :goodvibes they scoot over to their favorite Disneyworld attraction and eatery any time they want to! :wizard:

Sweet! Is there a Disney Job involved in this move?

No, we're just moving to Orlando FOR Disney  ~ but depending on the park benefits I may be interested in getting one a couple of days a week ;)

Thanks! Really? Do you think you could PM me some info on Orlando living and some good neighborhoods you recommend? I have read that Clearmont and the Dr. Phillips area is good. Also, do you guys go to WDW a lot?

We LOVE HAL! Are you cruising on the Zuiderdam? My parents are also going to be relocating to Orlando , they live here in Asheville too, they want to be near their grandkids. They cruise ALL the time ~ they have a B2B on the 29th from Miami , then straight to Ft. Lauderdale for another 8 day cruise. They are so excited about being so close to Pt. Canaveral and Tampa, etcl. so they can cruise even more :rotfl: Me, I'm excited about being less than 6 hours from Marathon in the Keys :cloud9:

Have fun on your cruise ~ I know you will ;)

Congratulations on your move. Was it hard to decide on the move?

Thanks :goodvibes Yes it was. We've been wanting to become fulltime RVers ~ we still have at least another 2 years until we can make that happen and decided months ago that we were going to move somewhere until then. It was a toss up between Santa Fe and Orlando...so we decided after much ado that we would live our dream in Orlando enjoying WDW and the ocean and just Fl. for a year or two , then head out west with our RV.

Congratulation's! I know you must be so excited! :thumbsup2

Me too :goodvibes I work at home, babysitting and homeschooling my kids, so I'm not too concerned with traffic. I do want to live somewhere close to Disney and Publix and a Wal-Mart would be nice. I heard Clearmont was nice...

How exciting you're moving back! I bet you just can't wait !!! Are you going to go back to work for WDW?

Cool :thumbsup2 It must be fun to be a CM at WDW!!!

I bet! Celebration is great ~ we checked in out this past Jan. I hear they make it snow in Dec. at night for the kids to play in :goodvibes
That's why I want to be close to WDW ~ so we can just go to catch Fantasmic or ride TT before bed, or go to Downtown Disney and pin trade and play at the Lego store :lovestruc

How fun. It is a heck of a drive between the 2 - or it used to be before the Greenway. What years was your DH there? I'm an old timer. LOL

Shoot....I want to say maybe 6,7,8 years ago something like that. I think he was a CM for 3 years. He liked the benefits but hated that they worked him to death. He'd end up working up to 80 hours a week which was just not cool.

Well, tell them Hello from me!!! :goodvibes

Clermont is nice but a bit far from Disney. Dr. Phillips is very nice too and you can take the back roads to Disney without ever hitting I-4. We will be looking around the Davenport, Dr Phillips or Lake Nona areas when we move (it all depends on the Army as to whether we go to Orlando or Tampa). I would LOVE to go back to Disney if possible. I still have friends there so hoping they can pull some strings...

Good luck with your move!!! I'm jealous you get to go so soon. Maybe we'll be neighbors. LOL

Yep he is a bit younger than me. I started my Freshman year at UCF in 1987. He is right about the work though, depending on the area. If he was in an onstage position the hours could be crazy. The benefits were great though - insurance, main gates, discounts, pension. I miss it and get so homesick every time we return to WDW on vacation. I don't miss the politics there at all - the "brown-nosers" made me ill.

Yeah he's 36. He worked in IT. He designed all of the point of sales systems for all of the stores and restaurants. Because of that he was on call ALL the time because it was definitely one of the thigns in the parks and resorts that couldn't EVER afford for it to go down.

Congratulations on your move. I'm really happy for you all. It's great your parents are going, too. I've lived in central Florida for a year long ago and while I don't miss the heat and humidity I miss the wonderful winters.

We talk about becoming an RV family at least for a year or two. It may happen sometime in the future. Homeschooling is portable and there's nothing like learning American history in the actual places where events happened. :thumbsup2

Congrats on moving! We made the move from Michigan to Florida in February and love it here!!!:thumbsup2
As for Clermont, that is where we live and love it! And we don't consider it far! From our house to MK is 15miles. We can get anywhere on property in 30min or less. The nice part about Clermont is that it is on the west side of town so you don't have nearly as much traffic and when we do our grocery shopping and such, we are not shopping in tourist areas. We like Clermont, but also like the Winter Garden area too! We are renting for awhile while ew learn the "lay of the land"! Made sense for us.
If you have any questions, feel free to pm me! :goodvibes

Good luck with your move!;)
