We arrived back in Manchester about 9amish yesterday after leaving a windy rainy Orlando behind. To sum up our trip: it was fabulous! We had such an amazing time. So sad to be back lol. I will probably do a more detailed report at somepoint (I took just over 2000 photos
), anyway... our highs and lows.
Highs (& there were alot of them...)
- Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party. We did this twice and came hom with 11lb of candy. On the first night me and DH dressed up. I went as Ariel and DH went as Linguini. The atmosphere was amazing, everyone complimenting each other on costumes, Hallowishes is wonderful and the parade was ace.
- Dining. We ate at Cindys Royal Table, Rose and Crown, Biergarten & California Grill. We also did Hard Rock Cafe at Universal. We had great food and service in all of these places. Cindys was the pick of the bunch though, we loved it. We also ended up with a brilliant viewing position for Wishes because of it.
- Photopass+. Very glad we did this, we got loads of ride photos and photo's with us both in. We rarely ever had to queue for a photographer.
- Enchanted Tales with Belle. On our first day in MK we went on Mickeys Philharmagic and a CM told the audience that if anyone wated to do a soft opening then we were to follow another CM at the end. Well, we were curious and followed lol We got t do a soft opening for Enchanted Tales with Belle. It's a nice little attraction and will be great fun for kids. Pretty cool that we got a chance to see it before it fully opens.
- Level of Crowds. It was brilliant, we barely had to queue for anything. Alot of rides were a walk on and we got so much achieved.
- Universal Studios/Islands of Adventure. I might still be deeply saddened by the loss of Jaws. lol. however I do really love US. Again we barely had to queue for anything which was great. Despicable Me was a fun ride. Islands of Adventure is my favourite out of the two parks. I finally got my big pants on and rode Dragon Challange and the Hulk. Loved the Hulk. Marvel Superhero Island is my fave area of the park, I love all things Marvel. Spidermans still awesome. I seriously could have spent the whole day in that particular bit ha ha
- Tower of Terror. On our third day we went to Hollywood Studios, we rode RnRc and ToT a few times and as we were leaving the area two ToT CMs approached us. They had two battered suitcases with them and asked us if we had lost our luggage. We played along with them and they asked if we wanted to check in to the Hollywood Tower Hotel. At this point we were about to head back to Pop Century for a break but said yes to the CMs. They lead us inside the ToT, made us wait behind the reception area and then handed me an envelope. I opened it and there was a letter for us, telling us we had VIP seats for Fantasmic. Nice bit of pixie dust right there. The CMs then took us through the queue, up a different flight of stairs to eveyone else and we ended up having a whole elevator to ourselves with the CMs. We sat front row with the CMs (who still had the two suitcases and were in character the whole time). It was definitly one of the highlights of our trip. (Love the ride even more now
)
- Cast Members. The majority of CMs we encountered were lovely. A CM at the Sci Fi was very friendly and took time to chat to us even though he wasn't our seater/server.
- Flight to Orlando. I watched the Avengers, Brave and Mirror Mirror. Played abit of Tetris and we were there in no time.
Lows
- Nine Dragons. We always go for lunch on our trips but decided to try dinner this time. The only reservation times were for 9.15 & 10pm so we went for the earlier one. We arrived early and the lady at the desk was rude. We got seated and placed our orders. James' starter came out and the server told him not to start it because mine was still being fried, his starter got a little cold by time mine came out (why he didn't wait till mine was done to bring both out I'll never know lol) by time I'd taken 3 bites if my starter the server stood with my main & asked if we were ready for it. I'd only had my starter for a few minutes! He took the mains away and proceeded to watch us eat & kept coming over to ask if we were done. In the middle of our main he told us there was 'no more ordering' so we couldn't have dessert. I have never had such a rushed service (they were faster then counter service ha ha). I dread to think what would have happened if we'd have picked the 10pm reservation lol
- Flight home. We had the old entertainment system on the way back, so that meant no films on demand - in other words no Avengers. The film choices were poor. I only watched Men in Black 3. TV choices were poor, music was poor and I was an annoying person sitting behind me who kept kicking my chair. I had hoped to get some sleep in because it was a night flight but I managed half hour. The flight its self wasn't bad, I was just grumpy because we were headed home
- Typhoon Lagoon. Don't get me wrong, I love TL. We just fell out with the wave pool. Thanks to one particually hard hitting wave I scraped my elbow and made a right mess. lol. I have now learnt that elbows don't make good anchors.
- Rain. Thankfully there wasn't too much of it, we did have an extremely wet day in US. The days it did rain we still hit the parks so we didn't really out on anything.
- We flew home the day HHN started at US. We're a bit gutted about this because we wanted to go to the Walking Dead section. We love the Walking Dead so that would have been awesome.
This was to be our last trip for a while but I made a throw away comment about coming in May and before you know it DH is plotting and calculating costs, so watch this space. We may be back... hoping to do a Star Wars Weekend maybe? I'm back at work tomorrow so I'll have to check what dates are available for me to haveoff work.
