We are at the Fort. It feels like home. We left at a little after 5:00 am yesterday and got here in a record 9 hours. It usually takes 10. NO TRAFFIC JAMS the whole way down! We went to the MK last night and although it looked crowded we really didnt have to wait long for anythng we did. Posted wait time for BTMRR was 30 minutes but it was only 15. Walked right on everything else. Ate at Pecos Bills at 7 and they weren't that crowded either. So looks like this will be a great week. :cool1: Going to Animal Kingdom this morning.

do you have your own satellite or did you go for the added expense that Disney charges??? and if so how much was it?:surfweb:

Disney charges $10 a day for internet at your cabin or preferred campsite. They do still have a place by the front dest where you can connect with your own dail up service for free but there are only 2 jacks.

Ah, hope y'all have a great time! Sounds like your first day and evening went perfectly.

btw, we used our cell phone along withour lap tops to access the internet while at FW. It was kind of slow (like dial up maybe?), but we just checked email and thats about it.

I just plug into the phone here at the cabin and use a local number. So its dial up but I dont need a lot of speed to check my email and the DIS.

Animal Kingdom was great today except that we went over for the express purpose of seeing Nemo and when it was time to start lining up they came out with a sign that said there were not going to be any performances today! So we went to lunch at Rainforest instead. But we got there about 9:35 and rode EE twice in 35 minutes. then they even opened the single riders line so there was little wait at all.

We did MK for EMH tonight and although it looked really crowded lines moved fast. The longest lines were for getting your wristband! :lmao: Practically walked on to everything else excpet Space Mountain that had a wait time of 40 minutes.

Time to sleep to be ready for tomorrow....Epcot, Biergarten and MGM.

I am so jealous !! Have a GREAT week and be sure to keep us updated on your trip :)

During our recent trip this is what I observed/used:

There are the two connections in the front office. There is also an "internet cafe" in the center of the drive thru check-in lanes. Several connections there as well as wireless. I used wireless because they were out of RJ45 cables. Worked great and was 10$ per day.

Also, discovered that there is wireless at Crockett's tavern. I did not use this but what a nice place to work if you have too... It should be useable on the porch so you need not go inside.

you can smoke and work at the same time....:rotfl:

Hi, neighbor! I'm in W-S. Hope you have a great trip!

Hey Neighbor!:wave2: Nice RV!

WOW! Monday weather could not have been nicer. It was sunny and a bit cool so touring was not draining at all.

Did Epcot and Biergarten in the am and MGM EMH at night. EMH was great! Hardly anybody there and we walked on to all rides.

I am taking care of some business in Tampa today but we have ressies for Boma tonight!!!

Yea, you guys are getting some of the best weather to ever grace Florida in May. It was 64 degrees this morning where we're at, I can't believe that is the temperature in May, it should be about 85 right now.

Also, Biergarten in the AM? Do they serve those big beers even that early? hah, just kidding ;)

WAAAAA!!! We are home. At least the weather was great for driving. Unfortunately I caught a cold and spent 2 whole days in bed! But we did MK EMH last night and it was great! Walked on everything except BTMRR which we hit right at 9:15. Only 7 more months til we go again!

Welcome Home!
I think I saw that you stayed in the cabins? When your're feeling better, could you post your review of the cabins? We are going in June, and I a gobbling up every bit of info on the cabins that I can!:goodvibes
TIA

Oh Sunni! You will love the cabins! We have stayed there exclusively for about the last 4 years (twice per year) and a couple of times before that. Previous to our FW conversion we stayed at various Mods and Values with POR being our favorite. Our party is usually me (51), DH (52--ha ha 7 weeks older than me!) DD turned 20 yesterday while on our trip and DD's BF turning 20 2 days after my BD. Too much info? :lmao: Anyway having the cabin makes that possible since he can sleep in the murphy bed in the living room and the rest of use the bed room. So they sleep 6. The bunks are surprisingly comfy. There is a TV in the bedroom and a bigger TV in the living room with a dvd/vhs player. DDBF always brings his playstation too and it is an easy plug in.

Full kitchen!!!! The best thing is the big fridge with an ICE MAKER! We usually eat out once per day and do all other meals at the cabin. We grilled twice this time and I also brought down some frozen stuff like spaghetti and meatballs and tacos. There is a Winn Dixie and a Publix close by and both of their prices are good if you need stuff. I had to go pick up cold medicine and extra soft kleenex! :rotfl: :rotfl: Lots of people don't like to cook on vacation but I dont mind. The kitchen has very basic stuff....plates, bowls, cups, mugs etc. Also very basic pots and pans and utensils. I always take my own cookie sheet and muffin tin and a good knife, pizza cutter, etc. We really needed an ice cream scoop this time as we were on a rootbeer float kick!

The one drawback is ONE bathroom. That doesnt really bother us too much but it could if you had a bigger group or teen girls!

We love the environment FW provides. Its so laid back and and quiet. And everybody is so nice. We dont care about themed pools. Their pools are very basic. We enjoy the campfire and movie but didnt get to do that this time. Transportation can be a problem if you are on a commando schedule because you have to take a bus to take a bus so to speak.

Anything else? Just ask!

Oh my! We really are neighbors! We also live in Lexington. Glad you had a great trip. We are going Christmas. Can't get here soon enough.

Hi Neighbor! :wave2:

There is another Lexington resident on the DIS too!

We will be there at Christmas too! 213 more days!!

Thanks so much Swimnoid!
I am really looking forward to our trip. The kids have no idea! I am going to just wake them up on the morning of the trip and say "Who wants to go to Disney?" They are going to flip! We are traveling with my best friend (hubby doesn't have the Disney spirit) and she is in on the secret of course.

Anyway...we are renting a car, so other than the boat to MK we will just stick with that most likely. I don't mind the unthemed pool, and the kids will just be happy to swim after a cold winter in the Northeast!
I don't cook much at home ;) so i won't be starting on vacation, but we will use the fridge for cold drinks, snacks and breakfasts so I am loving that concept.

Was the murphy bed comfy? I think my friend will sleep on that and I will sleep in the bedroom with the kids (that way she can have a small amount of privacy) I will probably make use of the comfort stations for getting ready in the morning, maybe send the kids there for showers at night.

We have a few nights where we don't have any plans, so I am looking forward to exploring the grounds and taking in some of the activities that the campground offers. Thanks again for answering my questions!:goodvibes

The Murphy bed isnt too bad. Some are better than others. The one we had this time was not very comfortable but most of the time they have been great. The big bed in the cabin this time wasnt very comfy...too soft, and they are usually really good.

The comfort stations are not very close unless you are in loop 2200 or 2100. Then you can go over to the one in the camping loop next to 2100.
