We're Going to Disney World!!---TR started 4/29!

Do you like cider?

Like apple cider? Eh, its alright...why do you ask? :confused3

GREAT ADR!! It sounds soo exciting and lots to do! hehe You're going to be like me with a huge list of must dos! hehe
I love ASMo.. its my fav. value resort. MY DH was actually mad that we didn't stay there this time and I told him- we need to try others to.. someday I would like to try all of them.. err most of them. I could care less for ASSports. Have you stayed at ASMo before? You will love it! It's filled with characters and movies stuff.. plus the bathroom is also my FAV! I don't like the POP bathroom.. its not as cool! ah well. OMG we have so much on our list of to-do's i hope we get to do them all! we'll sure try. I've never stayed at ASMo, I'm really excited to do so though, even if it is a value! I stayed at just ASSp a few years back and thought that was cool...i know i'll end up there again because chris would love it there will all the sports stuff. thats funny that your DH was upset about not staying there, but i'm like you and wanna stay at all of the Disney resorts at least once!

We are also going to AK on our first full day! YAY! :rotfl:
We are also going to ride Everest first.. hehe I've waiting long enough.. its the one ride I'm looking the most forward to!
We are also eating at Flame Tree.. we've never rode Everest either and Chris and I are both big rollercoaster people so we really cant wait! I want to eat at Flame Tree but i'll have to check out the bird situation first. I'm scared of them so if there's too many around we'll have to go to Pizzafari.

We love Disney Quest- I remember the first time we actually found it on accident and then DH didn't want to leave.. hehe We're excited for this too, mostly my BF. One of his friends told us about it about a year ago and he's been dying to go ever since! He'll probably be like your DH and wanna stay there all night.

Have you been to both BBeach and Typhoon? If so, which do you like better? I have been to both BB and TL and BB is definitely my favorite. However, I only went to TL once and i was 11 but i just remember neither me, my mom, my dad or my brother really cared for it. We went to BB the next time we went (when I was 14) and loved it and then i went to BB again in '05 and loved it.
We are doing to Mama Melrose Fantasmic package to!! I think this restaurant is most popular with this package because whenever I see the fantasmic package it almost always has Melrose. So good for us! ;) I'm excited for the fantasmic package because then we wont have to waste so much time waiting on line for the show! I think MM is the most popular for the package too because its not over expensive like the hollywood brown derby and the food's not bad like i've heard it is at hollywood and vine. so go us! :woohoo:
You are lucky- you get to go to San Angel- it will be closed when I'm there!

Awww that stinks that SA will be closed when you guys go! I'm upset that space mountain is closed until November!! :guilty:

Like apple cider? Eh, its alright...why do you ask? :confused3
In France I think they do Kir Bretagne which is another traditional Bretagne drink and is cider and blackcurrent and something. It sounds weird, and is a little bit odd tasting but is kind of nice and refreshing.

 for your kind words about my Pop and my BF is a sweetheart...most of the time  So lucky that you get to do bounceback in August...I'm dying to book another trip at the end of August with free dining but it just doesnt look like its in the cards :sad2:

I hope my parents like their GC and dinner at the YS! I called and tried to switch the reservation to the sweetheart package, was on the phone for 45 mins and got nowhere! So now i have to call back again. Let me know if you start another PTR!! :goodvibes

Oh trust me, I will be having plenty of alcoholic drinks, just not in the park because they tend to make me sleepy! :cloud9: I'm not a wine or champagne person so idk if I will like any of those drinks in France! Cinnabon in IoA sounds DELISHHHHH!

Yes we have so much planned but we will certainly be trying to take in all the little things too. If we had more days there it would be so much easier! :headache:

I will definitely let you know if and when I go for another try at a PTR! And I hope you have some better luck when you call again! It sounds so neat!!! :thumbsup2 You parents will love it! Well if you can't fit in August with Free dining I'm trying to fit in another go round end of Nov begining of Dec alot of DISERS will be there then and they plan on doing a nice meet! So you could try and shoot for that it maybe more realistic then August! I don't know if it's gonna work for me but I put in for the 29th thru the 6th off! But really it starts thanksgiving day because that is a holiday and the day after im taking an Administrative leave daythen onto vaca!! So hopefully it works for me and maybe you! ;)

Maybe if we hit the lottery or something we can go again in December! My BF and I are trying to save money as much as we can because we plan on moving in together within the next couple of years. And we want to buy a house, not rent one (and probably move down South too) so we need to start saving now! So going on more than one vaca a year its looking too likely...but I will keep those dates in mind in case anything else changes! I hope that you can go then! :goodvibes

I hear you about the house thing! Definitely save save save! So where down south do you want to go? and do you have family there or is it just something you wanted to do? just curious since you are in the NY right? That would be like culture shock for you! ;)I know it was culture shock for me moving from South Philadelphia to Southern New Jersey and thats not that big of a leap it's just not the city and you get use to the public transportation like buses, trolleys, subways etc.. to goto stores or walk! The buses don't come like every 15 min like in the city it's like every hour so you must drive here! or wait forever! :( And I miss that to this day and being able to walk to stores also!!
And i've been here 19 years!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Haha theres some things you never outgrow! But down south definitely sounds nice! :thumbsup2

Yeah, we're on Long Island. The main reason we want to move down South it because if we wait to save enough money to be able to buy a house up here we'll either 1) end up in a little crappy house thats falling apart thats 700 sq ft with no yard or 2) we'll be 40 yrs old...its RIDICULOUSLY expensive! Like some of the most expensive living in the US! So if we want to buy a house within the next few years, it probably wont be on LI. Trust me, we'd MUCH rather stay up here, we love LI! It will for sure be a culture shock which is why we want somewhere down South thats very suburban like where we are now thats close to stores and the big city. We're thinking North or South Carolina. I've heard that lots of young people are moving to Charlotte NC and that there's lots of jobs there so maybe there? Since we're on LI we really dont do the whole public transportation thing, its all cars. The only time we take the train or subway is when we're going to NYC. I think the only thing the South will be good for is slowing us down a bit (because everything moves so fast up here) and being closer to Disney!! :thumbsup2

Definitely sounds like a good choice! After reading ONETREEHILLADDICTS TR and PTRS her area and the surronding areas seem pretty interesting and kinda city like! I think I'm going to plan a mini spring break trip over that way in 2010 since IDK if I can do Disney since I'm going on a cruise with my older sister for her 40th B-day! I'm hoping to still pull off Disney too! But that probably won't happen so y not something over spring break! But definitely not Disney that place is a mad house over Springbreak and Easter! :scared1:

I'm so happy that you just told me how great it was in April! My worst fear right now is that it's going to rain the whole time, I would be CRUSHED but hopefully we will have good luck like you and ray.

well, of course i can't guarantee that but it really was LOVELY weather! and the crowds were nice too. our first 2 days were kinda crowded but it got better as the week went by. i know you're super busy but go read my april/may 2008 TR if you get a chance - you'll get an idea of what to expect that time of year. i think it's the one in green in my signature.

-land in ATL at 8:46am for layover

i will wave as you go by! if this was a longer layover i'd come see you guys. ;)

-walk around DTD after dinner for a while OR head to the MK!

i have to recommend wolfgang puck express at DTD for a nice dinner or lunch! it's SO GOOD!!!!! ray and i ate there twice in last april! and the best part - it's a CS so no need for reservations and it's not too expensive.

-do as much as possible before lunch ressies at Sci-Fi Drive In at 11:30am (we might just get appetizers here so we're not too stuffed for dinner)

the marsha's martian shake here is to die for!
-dinner ressie at Teppan Edo for 6pm

such a fun place! we loved our dinner here. be sure to avoid the green tea martini - it tastes like cough syrup!

-do more exploring and then watch Illuminations (give me your best viewing spots so I can write them down!!)

if you're lucky enough to get a table in france (right next to the grey goose/grand marnier slushie kiosk) grab one! it's so nice to sit there and enjoy the show. if not we watched from an area between germany and italy last time and that was good too, especially because you get a good view of SE in the background and you can also see MK's fireworks in the background if they're having any at the time. find the trains in germany and walk towards the water. there's a handicapped area that will be roped off right around there and we sat just to the right of that. :thumbsup2

Drinks to get in Epcot::
-rainbow margarita
-Gran Marnier orange slush
-grey goose slush
-tangerine daquari (thanks Ariel!)
-beer flight (for Chris)
HELP ME COME UP WITH SOME MORE TO TRY!!

the sultan's colada in morocco was very good and my new favorite is the peach schnapps oolong frozen tea in china - SO YUMMY!!!!!

-up early to head straight to Magic Kingdom!!! try and get there early enough to see the morning show but definitely be there by rope drop

this is the one rope drop i'd definitely see. it's so neat to see the characters ride in on the train and then when you're walking down main street the CMs come out and wave at you with their big mickey mouse gloves. there's nothing else like it! :goodvibes

SpectroMagic, and of course, Wishes! (give me your favorite viewing spots for both!!)

i love watching spectro from liberty square because it's not so crazy crowded. my favorite spot is to sit on the edge of the planter near the gallows.

as for wishes, my favorite spot is on the bridge to tomorrowland just because you get a great view of tink flying. i always bring my little mini-tripod to get fireworks pictures and i find a trash can on that bridge (preferably nearer to the hub than tomorrowland) and put my tripod on top of that. it's great!

-breakfast ressie at Kona Cafe at 7:30am

TONGA TOAST RULES!!!!!

your plans look great. the only pieces of advice i can think of are at DHS be sure to get a times guide FIRST THING and sort of plan out your day. because most of it is shows, it's so hard to fit it all in unless you have some sort of a plan.

and secondly, ENJOY YOURSELF!!!!!! you have some very full days there and if you don't get it all done, don't worry about it - it's just an excuse for you to come back sooner rather than later! remember it's your vacation and it's time for FUN....not stress! and be sure to give yourself enough time to rest too. disney world can suck the energy right out of you like nothing else!

I'M EXCITED FOR YOU!!! :yay:

Ooo your thinking of moving, how fun. I come from the South-West of England which is where all and I mean all of my family live, and all my Mum's family is really close. Then I moved for university (about 2-2 1/2 hours away), and then after that moved up to where I am now in the South-East which is 4 1/2-5 hours away on a good day. I miss where I lived so much, its such a great area with lots of beautiful countryside, beaches, coastline and moors. And of course I miss my family loads as I am really close with them. But moving to where I am now has given us much more opportunities which should really help our future, and thats what I am trying to focus on at the moment. Hopefully it will all pay off well and within a few years we will be able to move back down to where my family is. On the plus side we live near London now and get to go there lots. I'm sure it will be hard leaving behind your family and friends and LI but if it helps you both for your future I am sure it will be worth it. And being close to Disney is always a BIG plus.

Yes, Tammy's area does sounds really nice. I'm not sure exactly where she lives but thats what we're looking for, something as close culturally to LI as possible. A mini spring break there sounds really fun and so does the cruise! I love cruising its the best. Next year actually, Tinkgurl and her BF and me and my BF are going to Disney over our spring breaks. I know, we're crazy!!

well, of course i can't guarantee that but it really was LOVELY weather! and the crowds were nice too. our first 2 days were kinda crowded but it got better as the week went by. i know you're super busy but go read my april/may 2008 TR if you get a chance - you'll get an idea of what to expect that time of year. i think it's the one in green in my signature. Oh i know nothing can be guaranteed weather wise but hearing about someone else having good weather at the same time just makes me feel good! LOL I think I have read parts of your anniversary TR before but I'll head over later today and start reading the whole thing :)

i will wave as you go by! if this was a longer layover i'd come see you guys. ;) oh man, i wish it was longer! although i wouldnt want to make you wake up that early on a Sunday!

i have to recommend wolfgang puck express at DTD for a nice dinner or lunch! it's SO GOOD!!!!! ray and i ate there twice in last april! and the best part - it's a CS so no need for reservations and it's not too expensive. i've heard nothing but good things about WPE! its definitely on our list of possibilities along with Earl of Sandwich.

the marsha's martian shake here is to die for! since we're thinking of doing just appetizers here, a milkshake is DEFINITELY on the menu for us too :thumbsup2

such a fun place! we loved our dinner here. be sure to avoid the green tea martini - it tastes like cough syrup! actually, our original plan was to eat at Coral Reef that night BUT then i read about your recent TE visit and showed Chris and we changed our minds! I will definitely stay away from the green tea martini!

I'm going to write this down so i dont forget! LOL

the sultan's colada in morocco was very good and my new favorite is the peach schnapps oolong frozen tea in china - SO YUMMY!!!!! I have to add those to the list, both of them had been recommended more than once!

Thanks for the spots!! I would be walking around like a moron, dragging Chris around looking for the best place

TONGA TOAST RULES!!!!! yummmmm :lovestruc

I know we have a lot planned but really its just an outline. i'm all excited and so is Chris but i want him to enjoy himself (and enjoy myself too) so he doesn't hate the place and never want to come back! Thanks for all the comments and advice! :goodvibes

Awww I'm sure its hard being away from your family, it will be really hard for us too. And we'll definitely miss LI in general but money-wise, its just not feasible to think we'll be able to buy a house up here anytime soon. A 4 bedroom 2 bathroom decent house here could cost like $400,000 where in North or South Carolina it would be $200,000-$250,000. Thats the main reason...Disney is just an added bonus because we'd be able to drive there and wouldnt have to spend money on flying :thumbsup2

Hi!! Sorry for jumping on board so late, but I've really enjoyed your PTR - and there's not too much more left to it!! Bad for me - good for you!

I hope y'all have a great trip and I can't wait to hear about it when y'all get back. Me and my BF are going in November and will be doing some of the things y'all have planned (Universal, Mama Melrose/Fantasmic, San Angel Inn for CS and Teppan Edo) so I'm eager for your reviews!

And I LOVE your NYC posts. I'm dying to take my BF sometime next year. He's never been!

Thats so cool that you're going to do alot of the things that Chris and I are doing when you go in Nov. How old are you and your BF, if you dont mind me asking?

If you can get to NYC, do it!! It's amazing! :goodvibes

We will both be 25 when we go (I'll still be 24 for a couple more months though - not that it matters - I just like to remind him that I'm still younger!!)

I will definitely stick around for your TR! Can't wait!!

I really want to go so bad! I've been twice at Christmas and once in the Summer. We will probably try to go in the Spring because we both HATE cold weather!!

He he, you should try living over here, you would be so shocked at the house prices  A detached house averages £315k, while a flat averages £180k alone. That means you could get a 4 bed 2 bath house in N.Carolina for quite a bit cheaper than the average flat here eeekkk. North and South Carolina do sound like really nice areas, and I love the coast. Plus if I moved to the Smokies we would be much closer to each other lol :thumbsup2

I'm not sure what a detached house or a flat is! And I forgot how to do the exchange rate from pounds to dollars! :confused3 LOl

I would love to be closer to you, that would be so cool! :thumbsup2

A detached house is what I think most of the suburban and rural houses you have over there are like, they are houses not attached to another. We have a lot of terraced (lots of houses attached to each other in a row) and semi-detached (2 houses attached so you have one side not attached) over here. Detached houses are generally a lot more expensive. And flats are I think the same as apartments, set on one floor, normally not that big and don't usually have any additional land like a garden or garage. The exchange rate is pretty bad for us at the moment meaning the say £200k is nearer to what $200k would be to you, but generally its nearly around half, so $200k for you would be just over £100k for us, meaning our house prices are so much higher. Does that make sense :confused3

Imagine if we lived near each other, we could have wicked Disney parties

It's crazy, isn't it?!! My parents always talk about moving but I tell them to have fun  My mom and dad want to go somewhere with lots of grass and trees, and preferably someone to take care of it all. They don't want snow either. When my dad retires they want to go to a community-type of place down south somewhere. Which is never gonna happen cause I know they'd HATE it. My mom walks to all the stores around us all the time, and they both like eating out at nice restaurants and seeing shows and all that. They'd be bored and annoyed down there, I can guarantee it!

There's no way I could leave NYC. My whole life and everything I love is here, and I just can't see leaving it all behind. Because of that I doubt my parents will ever go anywhere far, my family's so close that we could never be separated for too long  I don't know if I'll ever be able to buy a house around here - the houses in my neighborhood are 3 bedrooms, 1-and-half bath semi-attached homes, and they go for upwards of $600,000 :scared1: All the surrounding neighborhoods have giant mansions that go for millions (and these aren't even all that giant compared to huge house in other area). It's crazy impossible to buy anything around here, but I'd honestly be fine in an apartment in Manhattan or somewhere downtown. At least for a few years when I first go out on my own and build everything up. You have to remember that the pay is a lot higher around here too. You'd be paid almost double to do the same job here that someone does down South. I know teacher's salary's up here can be built up to around $120,000 a year, which isn't close to what teachers are paid in other areas. It's give and take, I guess.

Do you know when you want to start looking to move?!

I get it now! it makes sense if i would have just thought about it i probably could have figured it out LOL The exchange rate is bad EVERYWHERE right now. The whole world is a mess, maybe they'll get something solved at this NATO summit they're having over on your side of the world tomorrow. :confused3 If we lived near each other we could definitely have Disney parties :thumbsup2

My parents have mentioned moving before too. They say me and Chris aren't allowed to move until they can retire because they don't want to be away from their future grandbabies LOL they dont care about us just the future children! j/k of course. My parents wouldnt be able to do too far down South either but they would both love to be out of the snow. And they love the shows in the city too and to be able to take trips in there. Basically, I doubt they'll ever leave LI

Its going to be reeeeeeeeally hard to leave Long Island, I really love it here. I didnt notice how much I loved it here until I went up to Westchester for school...even just being an hour away I missed it so much here and it was veryyyy different there too. Even though everythings not in walking distance here like it is by you, everything is in fairly close driving distance. And I actually like the fast paced lifestyle, I like to drive fast, walk fast, talk fast. I can't stand slow people! But like I said, its not because we dont like it here, its just the money situation. The pay is definitely MUCH higher up here. The plan is to save up NY money and then go down South with it. My house here is worth (not now because of the terrible economy but a few years ago before everything went downhill) about $330k. We dont have a very big house, its a ranch with a finished basement, 3 bedrooms one bathroom with a decent sized yard though. My house down South would probably only cost HALF of what it costs here though! The more expensive neighborhoods on LI are closer to what it costs for houses by you. I just dont get why on Earth everything has to be so expensive here!?! :headache:

Do you know when you want to start looking to move?!

We're not going to start looking until I'm done with school and have a job. Chris is already saving because he has a full time job and when I get one I'll be able to save too. We dont plan on ever getting an apartment together or anything because we think if our parents let us live at home for free, why would we throw money out the window on rent? Its just a waste, for us anyway. Who knows, maybe by some stroke of luck we'll be able to stay up here but at this point its not looking too good. We'd like to be able to afford to live in Western Suffolk county but thats even more expensive out there than it is by me. We wont be leaving LI for at least another 2 1/2-3 years!
