We're Going to Disney World!!---TR started 4/29!

hahaha I thought about that yesterday... when I came to your PTR!! I was like, "AWW! She's going to Disney THIS MONTH!"

How exciting to finally be able to say that!! :)

You have to remember that the pay is a lot higher around here too. You'd be paid almost double to do the same job here that someone does down South. I know teacher's salary's up here can be built up to around $120,000 a year, which isn't close to what teachers are paid in other areas. It's give and take, I guess.

Its true what Melissa says, generally in area's where the property is much higher, the pay is relative, its like that in London. However, its not always completely relative in terms of ratio. I have been looking into affordability of houses here versus earnings here lately and they have said the affordability ratio is around 4.5 (earnings v house prices), however London is currently 7.2 average and a lot of other places are well over the 4.5. In relation a few places are below that (though not many any more :mad:). So there are going to be places where you can do better on both property and pay, and these are the good places for you to move. I hope that makes sense lol, you probably didn't want that much info :laughing:

We're not going to start looking until I'm done with school and have a job. Chris is already saving because he has a full time job and when I get one I'll be able to save too. We dont plan on ever getting an apartment together or anything because we think if our parents let us live at home for free, why would we throw money out the window on rent? Its just a waste, for us anyway. Who knows, maybe by some stroke of luck we'll be able to stay up here but at this point its not looking too good. We'd like to be able to afford to live in Western Suffolk county but thats even more expensive out there than it is by me. We wont be leaving LI for at least another 2 1/2-3 years!

I completely agree! I didn't go away to school so I've always been here, but a lot of my friends went away and are graduating in May, and they're all worried about finding apartments around the city for when they come back home. We're still young and just starting out... why in the world would you want to pay all that money if you could just live at home? I know it's probably hard going from being on your own for 4 years to living at home again, but it's $1000 for a 1-bedroom dump around here... and free for your big, comfortable house with all the amenities and lots of food :lmao::lmao: I've always been fine living at home, and don't plan on moving out until I've at least had a job and saved up for a few years, or I get married :laughing:

We go to Disney THIS MONTH!!!!!! :woohoo::woohoo::yay::yay::banana::banana:

:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

The time flew by so fast, you must be so excited!

:thumbsup2 I know so many people who thought they would rather die than move back with their parents after college. I lived away and yes, it's different but like you said it's free. So many of them let pride get in the way - they are struggling in many ways today (and not just due to the economy).

Good for you to live home and save your money! Smart!

:cool1: Wooo hooo! Your getting sooo close! You must be freaking out! I can't believe your leaving at 3:45 in the morning! OMG! I would need an entire pot of coffee!

Your right, LI is ridiculously expensive!! DH and I have talked countless times about moving to either PA or NC. But, we have it pretty good here now so we're going to stay put for now.

We go to Disney THIS MONTH!!!!!! :woohoo::woohoo::yay::yay::banana::banana:

I thought I heard somebody shouting yesterday, but I've been so busy that it has taken this long to get over here and see who it was! :)

My kids are at lunch, so I had time to take a quick peek in to see what's going on in the fun part of my world. Your wait is almost over. Enjoy the next little bit of planning and waiting. I'm very excited for you! You're going to have an AWESOME time!!!

Yessss I'm THRILLED I can't even describe to you! :banana:

Yeah, shes definitely right about it USUALLY being relative, pay to housing. But I'm hoping if we save up NY money and then head down there we'll be good. Also, I'll have my NY state teaching certification and any education from NY is thought of very highly so hopefully that will give me a little bit of an edge down there :thumbsup2

I mean yeah I can see how it would be hard to go from living on your own for 4 yrs and moving back after college but seriously, you'll get a studio apartment for like a grand here. NOT WORTH IT! Suck it up and live at home for free! LOL

The time flew by so fast, you must be so excited!

:banana::banana::banana:I can't wait!!!!!!

ME TOO!!!!!!!!! :dance3::yay::woohoo::banana::cheer2:

Yayyyyyyy for us!! :dance3:

Thats so ridiculous that people really dont want to live back at home that much. I mean unless your parents are crazy psycho overprotective, why would you pay money to live somewhere when you could live there for free?! I dont get it! LOL

:cool1: Wooo hooo! Your getting sooo close! You must be freaking out! I can't believe your leaving at 3:45 in the morning! OMG! I would need an entire pot of coffee!

Oh trust me, on the plane I will most likely be zonked out! After the flight though I'll definitely need some coffee to keep me awake :laughing:

LI is insanely expensive and it makes me so sad because I would really love to live here forever. My parents have talked about moving too but since they already have had this house for over 21 years and they have secure well paying jobs, they're better off just staying! They agree with you guys :thumbsup2

OMG I knew I was screaming loud in all my excitement but I didn't think you'd be able to hear me all the way down in TN ;) The wait is just 16 short days away and I couldn't be any more excited! :woohoo::woohoo:
