We're goin' to San Diego ~ and possibly 1 day at DLR!

Just found out today that my mom will be in San Diego next month for a work conference. We'll go with her ~ I was able to get airfare to SAN for $69 each way! The hotel will be free ~ Town and Country on Hotel Circle. We have 2 free Legoland Tickets from our subscriptions to the Lego Club, so we'll plan 1 day there. Possibly Sea World, San Diego Zoo, Wild Animal Park. If I can get a car for a price I'm happy with with head up (North right?) to DLR for a day or 2! Our dates are 7/13-7/17. It'd be super fun to attempt the Trifecta ~ we were defeated April of 08 due to wind canceling the fireworks.

I rented a car for a day a couple years ago ~ the kids 1st trip to DLR (March of 06) DS and I went to Legoland for a day. The drive from the DLR area to Carlsbad was fine. DS asks each time we visit DLR if we can go back to LL ~ so I'm excited to be closer and have the 2 free tickets.

Any tips/suggestions for the 3 of us to do in San Diego ~ my mom will be busy during the day.

A couple of suggestions for you:

Take a ride on the trolley. There should be a station close to your hotel.

Visit Balboa Park. My grandkids (okay, me too) really enjoy the model railroad museum. The science center is fun too.

How about a visit to the beach?

The Midway floating mueseum at the foot of Braodway is worth a visit.

P.S. Yes, Disneyland is north of San Diego. Just head right up I-5.
