Great job sewing. I made dresses for my girls when they were younger, don't miss it one bit. I just didn't enjoy it. However, it is a very sad day when your Princess turns Pirate! :rotfl: Glad you are keeping busy getting ready for your trips. I have been busy, but not with anything for Disney. :sad2: Counting days tho! :thumbsup2

Today is Tommy & I's 12th wedding anniversary!

We celebrated by dropping the kids at Grnny's, having an adult beverage, dining at Caraba's & then some private time at home before picking-up the kids.

This is probably more info than you wanted, but the adult bev was a double.

:rotfl: :rotfl: Sometimes you just need that alone time!!!

:cheer2: :cheer2: 12 years!!! Way to go!!!!! Congrats!!!

I should be excited, but I'm actually a little disappointed.

Our waitlist for a Boardwalk room came through, so now we're not staying at the Wildreness.

I had already made our whole plan for the week, including ADRs based on staying at VWL. I even had a half day at Fort Wild. in there. Now I have to redo everything.

Oh well there are worse problems to have.

Anybody have a fav restaurant in HS?

DD's ariel was from a pillowcase. This was pretty hard for me. It took a lot longer but I am happy with the results.

Wow!

Tell me how you did this. Do you satin stich all the way around the image with different colored thread?

I'm not asking this on the boutique thread, I'd feel too lame.

:lmao: :lmao: I totally understand that. Most of the time I just post about other people's outfits and just ask " not dumb" questions. I had seen a couple of people saw they used pillowcases for dresses. I knew I would never be able to piece ariel together so I bought the pillocase to try. I just bonded it on to the tank and satin stitched the details. It helped that the details were already on the picture. I did have a few mishaps, and you don't have that close up of a pic;) I would definately suggest to try and do one with a "pre done" picture like this. The next one I try ( the dwarf Happy) will be pieced. We will see how that goes.

So you just use the satin stitch on a regular machine?
How much thread did you go through?
Do you have to use one of those free hand quilting guide/frame things?
How do you make sure you catch the edge of the applique yet not have it sticking out the other side?

I guess I'd better look for that link to everything you want to know about appliques.

I use the ziz-zag stitch and set my stitch width to nearly zero. I go extremely slow too. I haven't really paid attention to how much thread. I don't think I have used a ton. Each spool looks pretty full. When I line up the fabric on the machine I make sure that the needle will hit right at the outside edge of the fabric. i did a few practice runs with scrap pieces. I also used heather sue's applique tutorial. It is in the bookmarks and also on the first page of the thread. It really helped when I got to turning and placing my needle.

Well I just love the way it turned out.

I really wanted to make her one, But I thought it would be too difficult. Maybe I'll give it a try as soon as I'm done with the other 2 dresses I have half finished.

Go for it!!! I was scared about how it would turn out. Especially after always seeing "perfect" appliques from the disboutique thread. I tried it and then realized it might not be perfect but I did it. They always look alot better in other people's eyes. I can be too critical of myself. they look even better from from far away too;)

In case any of you were interested in the Resort Photo Shoots:
By the way the price for the shoot is now $75!

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1703832&page=3

It can be used more than once. We did a solo photoshoot and then a photoshoot with another family using ours and encountered no problems. So if they are keeping track, they surely dropped the ball with us.

Hi, I am doing a photoshare and was wondering how it is that this works if we want the discounted price for the photoshoot. I spoke to the person who is administrating the photoshoot and asked for a copy of the confirmation email, and she said that someone else in the share had already asked for it.
Can only one person benefit from the email, and does Disney actually keep track of that order number so only one person can use it? Or have families shared the CD order number and set up 2 different photoshoots with that same CD confirmation email?
Thanks...I hope this post isn't too confusing! :)

Melanie,

What pattern did you use for the dress you posted the other day? It was too cute!! I loved the color combo.

Krissy

Ok, so I totally spaced on the money and hadn't sent it yet. Sorry!! How much is it again? I will get it right over. Thanks Melanie!!!!

The pattern was the same as the other dress, I just used this elastic ruffle trim (doubled-up) as the strap instead of ribbon.

Th amount is $20. You still have my address?

I have to run get my 10 yo from school. He's suspended for 3 days for fighting. I asked for the details & the principal said she was proud of him, he didn't start it. But he still get zero's for 3 days!

Not sure if I still have your address so PM it to me again. If she was "proud" of him about the fight then you would think there would be some way she could help with the zero's.

This is a little premature, but I thought I'd pass it on anyhow.

When you edit your photopass photos & add borders, be sure to save them in the size you plan on printing them out as. If you edit & save as a 5x7, but print out as a 4x6, some of the border will be cut-off.

(Note any borders added to your uploaded photos will not appear on the cd)

I didn't know this. There's a Photopass guy taking pics of the Jedi Training Academy. If your kid gets picked for the JTA be sure to stop at the photo center on your way out of the park to get their photos add to your card.
