we're finally going to disney world!! (april 2009)

thanx for the tip. i think mco is the best airport! it's like a shopping mall there!! w/so many stores & even a big food court! i know if i've missed any souvenirs, i can always do a last minute shopping at mco! :flower:

I love MCO or Mickey Country as I call it!!! Last year I was close to the airport for training with a certain airline. Actually the building was at the end of the runway---we could see the planes landing and taking off--we were CLOSE, like we could see inside the plane almost!! It was crazy.

At any rate, I love the Sea World store--stuff is pretty expensive though. Oh and I hope you have a Wonderful time in April!!!

ok...on to dining...

so far, this is what we have for dinner...but before i go on, let me tell you all that we love to eat...and my DSs are very adventurous when it comes to food. they would try anything at least once! and they like eating out at different places. having said/written that...

boma...i love buffet!! all you can eat is the best! and i'd love to try what they have to offer. it sounds so exotic.
le cellier...this is for DH who loves red meat. me too, but mostly for him.
sci-fi...for DSs.
le chef...this is for us, when my DB & DSIL takes our DSs.
narcoosee's...??? they have filet mignon on the children's menu!! DSs would so get a kick out of being able to order filet mignon!!

i have one more table service, but i'm not sure where to go? what do you think? i know we don't have any character meal...but we've done many here at dl...so that's why i didn't look into it. if i have to do one, for those of you who have been...which would you recommend? i'm open for suggestions.

thank you for reading! and please give me your input! my next thing is really look at the various rides/entertainment & see what we want to go on/see...how do you plan your days? it seems like a huge task...so i'm trying to not go there yet. but i guess i must face it soon!

until next time...good night! :flower:

mickey country...that's funny! and what about the "o"?

Well it's Mickey COuntry :) the "O" is in country.

About dining, I'd go to 50's Prime Time Cafe---it's, well unique and if you're up to playing along and having a good time you'll love it. Or Teppan Edo--Japanese where they cook at your table. Just my two cents worth :)

That is awesome! My boys are adventurous eaters as well...makes it so much easier to choose restaurants when you don't have to worry if they have chicken nuggets or PBJ!

Of all of these we've only been to Sci-Fi which the boys really enjoyed. As far as the others go...you'll have to give a full report on your return!

We did the Donald Duck Safari breakfast in AK and that was great. We also did the Liberty Tree character dinner in MK, but that has changed. NO more characters. Does your family do seafood? We like Coral Reef at Epcot. Or Wolfgang Puck's in DTD was incredible!

I start with a list of the attractions we definitely want to see. Then look at the EMH schedule and park hours, parades, etc. Then I use the Unofficial Guide's touring plans to pull the day together. We stick to them for the most part, but we are also flexible if need be. If you have a plan, you don't spend time in the park wondering what to do or where to go next.

And just a follow-up on the ME thing. We went to Epcot the day our flight left. We had to be back at POR at 3:00, but it worked out fine. From our experience, Disney transportation was pretty reliable and if you just time out how long the trip is, you can do it! :)

Nice job on the quoting! :thumbsup2

As far as character dining goes, i'm a big fan of Chef Mickeys mostly because of the atmosphere and because its so hard to actually meet Mickey in the parks. The food is pretty decent as well.

As far as a plan of attack for the parks, last year we kind just were winging it...I had read all the guide books so I had a general idea but we were 4 20 something year old girls so it was just like whatever. This year I think I'm going to end up using the touring plans from the unofficial guides so we can get to see everything!

my boys are allergic to peanuts...so pbj is completely out of the question for us!

gladly!! i'm looking forward to sci-fi...cuz i know my DSs will really enjoy it! i mean...what boy doesn't like sitting in a car & eating? all the tables are like that, right?

we love seafood!! the boys are going there when my DB & DSIL takes them, on the day that we are having our "adult only" meal. ::yes::

thanx for the info/tip. i just don't want to be all stressed...so i think we'll just play it by ear that day. or maybe after we get there, and realize that the transportation isn't all that of an issue...so that last day, maybe it'll just be "open"...or maybe a park close by? my "original plan" was to do ak that day, since it was the closest one to our resort. and they have emh as well. what do you think? since you've been...

Nice job on the quoting! :thumbsup2

i'm loving this quoting thing!! thanx for guiding me the way! :flower:

ok...i will have my "plan of attack" for each park. but i better study the parks & check out the rides/entertainment first. the boys did mention some of the rides they wanted to try when we were watching the dvd! and i'm secrectly grateful...shhhh...secretly...that they have many of the same rides/entertainment at dl/ca, so i feel like i can devote more time to the other rides/entertainment that we don't have at dl. so i won't have to spend more time on certain rides/shows. after all...there's only so many hours in a day, and i'm sure they will kick us out when the park closes! :rotfl:

let me try to post some pix...

How I wish that we are also having a trip as early as everyone here but we still have to wait 3 months more before our trip on December. I'm crazy thinking about that upcoming trip. May you all have a great time and enjoy.

Have a nice and safe trip everyone. :)

thanx! but you know our trip will end, and i'll be so envious of your upcoming one...:flower:

I'm not 100% certain that all the tables are like that, but just be sure to request one when you show up for your ADR. You can probably ask that question here on the restaurant board. My kids still talk about the goofy sci-fi movies! Your boys will love it!

Honestly I think you will have plenty of time to spend a few hours at a park on that day. You said your flight leaves at 4 or 5 so you won't need to be to your resort till 1 or 2. Once you are there for the week and ride the buses, you will be able to judge how much time you need to go back and forth. As long as you are aware of the time you have while at the park, you should be fine. Playing it by ear is a good idea....you may want to just chill by the pool that day if you feel like you have seen everything you want to see. I believe a park is definitely doable though. ;)

Beautiful family! I love pics...they're my favorite part of PTRs! Your boys are too cute! :p

i have good news!!!! we paid off our trip!!!!! :thumbsup2

i transferred all our disney rewards points, and we finally got our card in the mail couple days ago. i was stressing about "what happens if the postal service loses our mail...what will happen to all those points?" needless to say, it arrived safely! and i called disney and applied everything from the card to our package. so now we have our meals paid for, plus our accomodations & entertainment (tix). i know we'll probably pay more for food, i'm thinking, even if we have the dining plan.

anyways...DH just told me the other night that he's excited about our upcoming trip. this was while he was online trying to see what new dvds to purchase. all for the boys on our long plane ride. that's how he gets excited...planning for the other aspects of our trip. i'm thinking of heading out to target to see what little "surprises" i can get for our boys for the trip. they'll certainly need something besides the dvd on the plane ride. both going & coming back. that's a whole 10+ hours!!

oh...i bought matching shirts for the boys. i tend to do that. more so when they were younger. i was at the rack, and saw some nice "dressier" short sleeve shirts, and they came in both their sizes!! so i thought that would be nice for our trip, especially when we go to dinner at that fancy place...narcoose's?

that's all for now. thanx for reading! :flower:

Woo-Hoo!! :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :yay: :yay: :yay:

Honestly we spent VERY little extra on food. Maybe a few drinks cause it's a shame to use snack credits on those, but other than that we really didn't feel we needed to spend money on food. I did bring a few things....cheese crackers, fruit snacks, granola bars, etc that I threw in my bag each day.

anyways...DH just told me the other night that he's excited about our upcoming trip.

Yay!! Mine is too...HE ordered the planning DVD that I didn't figure we really needed! :rotfl:

Just popping in to say hi! Haven't heard from you for a while..hope all is well and the trip planning is coming along! :goodvibes

Just popping in to say hi! Haven't heard from you for a while..hope all is well and the trip planning is coming along! :goodvibes

haven't really thought about our trip lately, or been on the boards...been really busy w/everyday stuff. but thanx for checking in! :flower:

I love your trip report! Can't wait to read more! I'm sure mine will be like yours...I am a newbie to WDW too!

thank you! and welcome. you should do a pre-trip report too! i think yours will be more "romantic" than mine, since you're going for your honeymoon...a different kind of fun, i guess! but fun, none the less! thanx for reading! :flower:

ok...i've been consumed by everyday stuff!! haven't been on the boards lately, or been thinking about our trip...i don't know what's gotten into me!!

don't really have any "updates"...have been reading this travel book i checked out from the library about florida. debating whether to splurge & actually buy a wdw book from a bookstore or not. any recommendations? i was hoping they would have something at our local library...

my next thing is really look at each park closely, and figure what our "plan of attack" for the day should be. but that seems like such a huge task...so i guess i'm trying not to think about it!

oh...good news! i just received our maps in the mail yesterday! so i was showing it to DH...and he was very impressed!! he thought disney just sent it out, since our trip is coming close. but i had to tell him...no, i actually "ordered" them! and it's tailored to what we would like to do, etc.

anyways...again, thanx for reading! will post next time! :flower:

I am also wondering about the books and some of the subscription sites. How useful they will be and stuff. Maybe it would be a good idea to go to a local bookstore and thumb through them to see what you think will be the most useful...
