looks like your fourth was a lot of fun as well. the food looks amazing. making me hungry. :rotfl::wizard:

Thank you!!! It was a nice trip. We stay at condos on the beach. Our two favorites are Oceania and Dunes of Crystal Beach. My good friend made the buckets---she is SO talented!

We did have a good 4th, despite being tired from our trip. The food is always really, really good! Glad I could help with your hunger ;) HAHA

Those bears are so cute! I love, love, love Build-A-Bear!!

Looks like you had a great 4th!

I love BAB too!!! I had to stop myself from stuffing a mint chocolate chip one myself  We did have a great 4th---hope you did as well!

Great beach pics! Makes me regret not going this year. Love Destin. Great new BAB's, want to go get some for the kiddos.

Sounds like a great 4th. We spent all day cleaning and getting the yard ready, then finally got to rest and enjoy the evening with family and fireworks!

Ahhh, the beach!!:cloud9: One of the main reasons I moved to Florida. Every couple of weeks we go to the beach to watch the sunset. It's beautiful and we have the whole beach to ourselves. :goodvibes
Those BABs are very cute! Are they scented like the flavor icecream, too? That mint bear is cute! It would of been hard for me to resist.
What an awesome 4th of July! We had a pretty relaxing one, too. DH flew up here the day before to be with us and then tomorrow he's going to Boston on an a business trip and I'm going with him for our anniversary.
The parade sounds so cute! Dinner looks good, too.

Welcome back! Beautiful beach pictures. I visited the local beach but NJ beaches don't look anything like FL beaches. :rotfl:

Cleaning sounds like a GREAT fourth to me!! haha. Tried to get my DH to agree to do that, but he wanted to go have fun  I am happy you had a nice fireworks evening with the family!

OHhh I would love to live in FL!! What city do you live in again? Having the beach to yourself must be heaven!

I wish the BAB smelled like the ice-cream flavors, but they did not. My DD wants the mint one now! ha. I don't think we have any more room!!

Have a great anniversary trip!!

All caught up on your lovely little mini-trips!! The beach pics are beautiful - so glad you were able to get there before it was too late. :headache:

Looks like a fun time on the 4th! :goodvibes

I'm looking forward to hearing about your organization skills - I find myself lacking in that dept sometimes! Good intentions, mediocre results! :lmao:

In Coral Springs. We're about 40 minutes away from Ft. Lauderdale and about an hour north of Miami.
I know the feeling of not having any more room for stuffed animals. I think it's time for some of ours to go.
Thank you!:goodvibes

Looks like you had a great 4th of July!!! :cool1: I'd give anything for access to a pool right now, it's like 700 degrees here in CT, those pictures made me want to jump right in! :rotfl:

ORGANIZATION

I like to think that I am organized when it comes to traveling. However, I find myself thinking up new ideas while we are driving to vacations in order to solve little problems that I find irritating. I am hoping to be inspired by all of your ideas and tips in order to travel stress free!

JANUARY 2010 TRIP

During our January 2010 trip, I was not sure what to expect when I got to the WL room. I decided to buy a few Rubbermaid boxes to organize our medicines, food, toiletries etc.

When we arrived at the WL, I was in luck!! The Rubbermaid boxes fit GREAT in these handy little compartments below the sinks.

After posting about this method, I had SO many people ask me how I liked it. I must say, I was very happy with the ease of finding things in categories (like medicines). However, you should have seen the trunk of my car! Even funnier, the bellhop’s cart! The boxes kept falling off the cart and they took up too much room in my trunk. I wish I would have gotten a picture, but I think you get the idea.

SO—this year, I am doing something a little different.

I found these great collapsible crates at The Container Store.

They fold down easily for travel and pop open when you are ready to use them! I will transport the folded crates in this all purpose travel bag I found, also from The Container Store.

This will be easy for me to fit into my trunk as well as hang from the cart at the Wilderness Lodge. I will use another one of these travel bags to bring all of my items (medicines, toiletries, etc) all organized in large ziplock bags. When I get to the WL, I will simply set up the crates and transfer the items from the ziplock bags to the appropriate crates. I hope this is not too confusing!! It is kind of hard to explain!

For packing clothes, I use the "DIS method" of ziplocking the kids clothes for each day at the park. It helps organize their suit cases.

CAR TRAVEL:

In January, I set this Rubbermaid box up in between my kid’s car seats.

DisneyTravelDay1015.jpg

It had diapers, wipes, snacks, paper towels, DVDs, etc. Anything I would most definitely need for the kids during the trip. It worked well, except I did have the lid on it, which the kids pulled off and dropped to the floor. I will just keep the lid off this year! I loved how the kids could reach the items easily and so could I.

Like most of you, I put together new toys and treats for the kids in their backpacks.

(Please keep in mind my son was only 1 at the time and I really could not buy him too much!! HAHA he is lacking compared to his sister :))

Their backpacks were put at their feet and I could easily reach them from the front of the car. All of their new items kept them so busy! They were eager to watch their new DVDs and color with their new color books.

This year, I would love to add new travel games. I found this FUN license plate game on the Creative DISigns board!

I know that will keep my 7-year-old busy for at least an hour

My biggest problem when traveling in the car was TRASH!! We somehow accumulate tons of it in just hours on the road. Especially the kids.

I found these bath toy organizers at Target.

I am thinking of buying two and using the suction cup to attach to the window on either side of my kid’s seats. They are large enough to be used as trash cans for the back seat! When they are done with snacks or paper, they can just place it in the bag. When we are home from the trip, I can use them as bath toy holders again.

Well, that is it for now!! I am so excited to hear your great ideas for organizing when traveling!! I don’t know about you, but I always feel much more relaxed when everything is in order and can be easily unpacked when we arrive at the Resort.

Less time spent unpacking = more time having FUN!

WDW QUESTION OF THE DAY:

“What are your best organization tips and tricks for traveling?”

Looks like you had a great 4th of July!!! :cool1: I'd give anything for access to a pool right now, it's like 700 degrees here in CT, those pictures made me want to jump right in! :rotfl:

We did, thank you!! Louisiana has been surprisingly cool this summer. I wish it was not raining today or we would be right back at the pool!!

In Coral Springs. We're about 40 minutes away from Ft. Lauderdale and about an hour north of Miami.
I know the feeling of not having any more room for stuffed animals. I think it's time for some of ours to go.
Thank you!:goodvibes

Cool! Always wanted to go to Miami! The stuffed animals have taken over our house!

Great tips! I absolutely love organization, and the Rubbermaid bin aisle is one of my favorites in the whole store! :lmao:

Wow! You are certainly very organized. I consider myself a neat/organizational freak but not anymore! I have that same pink/purple colored tote in my closet and I use it as my Disney box. Every time I buy something for our trip I throw it in there so everything is all together. It makes it so much easier when I'm packing!

We don't usually take long car trips (only to Syracuse and it's only 2 hrs away). We're driving to Maryland in a few weeks for a wedding and I haven't even started thinking about it yet. Madison will bring her Nintendo DS for sure and lots of books. I'll probably bring my ipod and that's about it. We will have a small cooler so we can stop somewhere to eat lunch. Madison is very easy to travel with so I don't have to worry about her. :goodvibes

Great organizing ideas! For better or worse, we're flying so I probably won't use so many containers but I like the idea! Maybe I'll get a few small ones for crayons and markers and coloring books inside the backpacks....

Amanda

I love this post! You've got so many great ideas! I love the collapsable bins from the container store (one of my favorite places to shop!). I think your idea about carrying them in in that large bag and then filling the crates once you're in the room will work really well! :thumbsup2

And what a great idea for the trash! That is definitely an issues that we have too, since we drive.

I seriously think I'm going to try the ziplock packing method for myself! I think it will be really beneficial in Italy because we'll be traveling between cities so much. If it works out well there then I can use it for the disneymoon! :woohoo:
