We're Dreaming of a WL Christmas! DEC 2010 INTERACTIVE PTR NEW: 12/9 BYE-BYE!

Hey! Your plans sound great!
I've only been to Le Cellier and we loved it!! I probably wouldn't do SAI only because we eat Tex Mex all the time (and the reviews haven't been great). Do LC now before it's 2 TS credits ;)
And I plan on trying for CRT for breakfast on our next trip cause I've heard great things.
I think my favorite TS was Garden Grill! The menu was new and the food was incredible!! We also enjoyed Crystal Palace for breakfast. The characters, the food, the empty park, everything was wonderful!!
Good luck on your planning! Can't wait to read more!!

We are the same way about Mexican food. I think from your post and the past couple of posts we are set on Le Cellier! I just told my DH to get over it! :rotfl: He just liked the atmosphere of SAI.

Awww Emma would be so cute at CRT!! I have heard great things about Garden Grill and Crystal Palace as well :goodvibes That would be awesome to have an empty park!

Ok...I didn't go back and read everything yet because I have a towel on my head and decided to check the DIS before finishing getting ready to go out to dinner!

But I did read your ADR post and I'll add my comments. First of all, like I said, I love the WL. I've eaten at WCC a few times and we really enjoyed it. We are trying breakfast there on our next trip.

Ok, the Le Cellier vs. San Angel Inn debate. Just reading your posts, I think you've pretty much already decided. There are so many reasons for you to choose Le Cellier on this trip. Save San Angel for another time....

Does LTT still serve family style for dinner? We ate there for dinner once and it was family style but that was back when they still had characters. We liked it.

And we LOOOOOVEEE 'Ohana!

I say, overalll, GREAT choices! :thumbsup2

Thank you for taking the time to post!! I would really like to try WCC at breakfast too. On our last trip, we loved WCC dinner so much, my hubby wanted to try breakfast on our checkout day and we ran out of time. Might try again on this trip!

I agree, Le Cellier it is! I just called and told my Travel Agent

LTT was family style when we were there in January. We were lucky b/c they brought back the characters for one month while Crystal Palace was down.

OHANA is AMAZING :cloud9: We dream of the smells in there!

WCC- I really want to eat here again. We had an ADR for Thanksgiving brunch but ended up canceling because we woke up too late. (Oops, spoiled my TR update, oh well.)
San Angel Inn- Ate here once and wasn't thrilled with it. On the boat ride there was two old women talking about SAI and there review had me cracking up! I would say just do the CS. Do LC while you can.
For DHS counter service I would go with Pizza Planet. Starring Rolls is mainly just a bakery, I would go there for a snack. I think your kids would love PP! The food is great and the arcade is fun. Some of the arcade games are set for unlimited and it's free. (Just a few) I remember last year the girls were doing this baseball game for a good 20 minutes.
BBB- This wasn't invented until the girls were too old for it. I'll have to live through your experience with Abby. I've heard great things about it.
Pirates- I think the minimal face paint would be nice. In November some kids had all white skin from it and it was kind of creepy.
My favorite TS is CP at MK! The food is so good and the characters are a ton of fun. Maybe you could do this on MVMCP instead of LTT. During the holidays they make it Christmas-y.

HAHA uh-oh. Thanks for sharing your secret with me  You know, I have heard great things about Pizza Planet! I guess the best thing is that we can wait on what we want to eat to see what we are craving that day because it is CS. I think my kids would love it there!

OH I totally agree about the white faced pirate! Too much for me. The one i would get for my son has a thin mustache and eyebrows. hehe.

You are the third to mention CP!! I would love to go there one day...my DH is really wanting LTT again! Decisions, decisions!! Thanks so much for your advice :goodvibes

The only time I have been during Christmas season, it was around that same time. December 13 to 19. It was a great time. I know I won't likely be able to go around that time again. It was great. Low crowds and all.

I would vote to take time to enjoy the resort and relax.

I have this new motto. Ok, well have had it for a few trips. And it does make it a lot of fun. I enjoy lounging and reading, or sleeping in, and even napping.

First of all. I would go with Le Cellier. You've got more pros than cons in your post.

2nd. If you go to Starring Rolls and love white chocolate...I strongly recommend the white chocolate cupcake. I am still dreaming about it.

I think I would recommend lunch at Cinderella's if you don't want to get up too early. That way you get enough time to go to both appointments without a rush.

Favorite restaurants? So hard to pick. Let's go by park.

MK: We LOVE Tony's! THE best Tiramisu. Plus I like the decor.
We also love The Plaza. So cozy and small. Feels different.

At the contemporary we love Chef Mickey's, of course!

MGM: None really.

AK: None really.

Epcot: The France bakery!

DD: Ghirardelli. Doesn't really help, does it? lol

Ok, off to read your TR next. And if you are ever bored. I have PTRs and TRs in my signature you can read :)

WOW! Thank you for all of your advice! I am so happy to hear about the low crowds. I am going to do a post on your relaxing idea pretty soon. You have our vacation motto pegged to a "t"! No rushing, lots of relaxing :cloud9:

OH I LIVE FOR WHITE CHOCOLATE! How will I choose between the peanut butter and that?!

All of your restaurants sound great! I especially want to try Tony's and the Plaza one day! I am excited to have you join my PTR and will most def. check out yours!!

We LOVED Cali Grill and Flying Fish. Both are on our list for this year. We had breakfast at CRT and thought the food was good and how can you beat eating in a castle with the princesses (espically when you are 5).

So...WCC was that good ...may have to try and add that somewhere.

We haven't eaten at either LC or SAI, hopefully we will be trying LC this year.

Have you ever tired Teppan Edo? We are thinking of that this year.

Bev

My hubby and I are going to try Cali Grill for SURE when we go in May for an adults only trip! I hear the food is awesome. We will have to try Flying Fish as well!! We live in the south so we love any type of seafood :)

OH WCC is a must, especially with kids. The food is really, really good (nice ribs, mashed potatoes, just comfort food). The waiters do really funny things and there are lots of activities for the kids. We just loved it (I wrote a full report in my TR--link below in my siggy).

We have not tried Teppan Edo. We have many, many hibachi grills here where we live. I guess for now we wanted to try things we could not do at home, but it is on our list when we go back one day! Thanks for all of your suggestions, I appreciate it :lovestruc

Hi Katie! I have to go back & finish catching up! Since we changed our trip dates, I've been waaay behind on my subscriptions! But I did read about your ADR's. My vote is for Le Cellier & Starring Rolls! :goodvibes

I've never eaten at Le Cellier but I think San Angel is more for the atmosphere & Le Cellier is just an overall good experience! I have friends/family who eat at Le Cellier every single trip & love it! My husband would kill me if he knew I was saying this because San Angel is always his pick at Epcot. :rotfl:

I love all of your choices! I really, really want to try LTT and Ohana! Maybe next trip. I saw pictures of LTT's food on someone's trip report last night & I swear I woke up hungry 10 times throughout the night!

Honestly, I think you made great choices!!!! I also liked how you added pics of each restaurant in your post! :goodvibes

I'll weigh in on the Le Cellier vs. San Angel Inn dilemma. We want to eat at both places, too, but I opted to go with Le Cellier in July. I read such rave reviews here on the DIS, and when Charles and I had the Cheddar Cheese Soup at the Food and Wine Festival, we knew we needed to eat there.

Plus, don't forget the new Mexico counter service will be open by then, so you could get your Mexican food fix there for lunch one day.

Thats ok! I know you are busy :goodvibes I have decided to go with Le Cellier based off of what I think my in laws would like and what goes best with the holidays! HAHA I won't tell your husband!

LTT is soooo yummy! The salad is just fantastic. We raved about the food the entire trip. Equal is Whispering Canyon at the WL! Very similar and soo comforting. Ohana is a must do with children or families. The atmosphere cant be beat and the smells are just divine. It smells like grilled pineapple! Thanks for all of your advice

Yay! Your post on the cheese soup did me in...seriously  When I read it I thought "Ok, that is it. I have to try Le Cellier!" I already wrote my Travel Agent and asked for LC! I agree with you---I am excited to try the new Mexican CS. I think it will be really nice. It needed an upgrade. Can't wait to read your review of LC though :goodvibes I am sure it will be just as great as all of the other reviews!

Ah, thanks! I will definitely take lots of pictures at Le Cellier! :goodvibes

I am looking forward to your review of the new Mexico CS -- I just wish it was open this summer. It looks like it is going to be so pretty, and I like that it is going to be indoors. World Showcase definitely needs more indoor CS places.

I agree!! I love EPCOT, but I have been upset with the CS. You know, there is a rumor that the Mexico CS would turn into a TS at night? It will offer awesome views of Illuminations! Ahhh margaritas and fireworks..sounds awesome!! The one CS we loved from our last trip was Tangerine Cafe. It was surprisingly good for a light lunch. Loved the atmosphere!

Oh, I will need a ressie for that if it proves to be true! What a prime viewing spot!

We ate at Tangerine Cafe last summer and really liked it, too! My favorite CS of the trip! Which reminds me -- I wonder if I can fit that into our Epcot day...:goodvibes

Your ADR's look great. LC is really a good choice, was worried when we went because of the kids, but they enjoyed it too. We also did pirates league. Dh brought ds, so of course he came out with the white paint all over. Which he rubbed off about 5 minutes later (well more like smeared all over). It made for pretty scary pics the rest of the day. Ds is 3 and he did well to sit still, definitely go with less makeup though. Maybe even plan it for later in the day.

Ohh yum! If only to get a frozen drink from the charming little shop inside :cloud9:

Thank you!!! What valuable advice! I am so happy you all enjoyed LC. You know, I was just chalking it up to the "one adult meal that we get at WdW";) BUT happy to hear the kids liked it.

I agree about the white paint! My son will be 3 in November, so he will be just your DS's age. It is really cool looking, but I think he would get a tad freaked out after the fact. I just want him to pretend he is a pirate. He does that daily with his captain hook hat and Jack Sparrow sword we got him on our January trip! I think we are going to go with the thin mustache and eyebrows. HEHE He will be thrilled!! Again, thanks for your advice. I appreciate it :goodvibes

The only one I can comment on from experience is LTT. I LOVE LOVE LOVE it!!! So delicious and I agree it would be ideal for christmas time. I think I would like Le Cellaier over san angel inn. I've always wanted to eat there, and I agree with using it now since it's going to be 2TS regardless b/c of candlelight processional vs when it has to be 2 just b/c.

Have you eaten at Sunshine Seasons in the Land?! It is my favorite CS in Disney! The chicken with mashed potatoes and chocolate cake is so good! My mouth is watering now. I highly recommend it. Plus it is a good way to use CS credits because you get cake from the bakery area with your meal.:thumbsup2

Isn't it the best :cloud9: We just raved about the food the entire time! I already called my travel agent and booked the LC package (well, she will book it when it comes available). Thanks for your advice:hug:

We have! Never eaten a meal, just a yummy snack (strawberry shortcake--yum!). We just never end up being in Future World during lunch time (it is always early morning for us). We need to try it, though :thumbsup2

Not only am I looking forward to your Harry Potter review, I am now SO excited to see your Pirates League review  How old is the youngest child that will be going to PL with you?

My youngest is 5 1/2. I know your DS is quite a bit younger, but hopefully you can still get a feel what it is like from my report and then decide.

I should not have read this thread on an empty stomach! I don't have any experiences with the restaurants you are thinking about. LeCellier, O'hana and WCC are on the top of our list for our next trip. Try as I might in 2009, I couldn't fit them in. :sad2: Our favorites from our last trip were Chefs de France and Tutto Italia. My mouth is watering just thinking about them. On the flip side, we were not thrilled with CP. I know, I know everyone loves it! We didn't hate it but it was nothing special IMHO. We waited a long time despite having an ADR, characters came and went like the wind and the food was just average. Maybe it would be better for breakfast.:confused3

Hi!

I am loving your PTR We are staying at the WL this Aug/Sept. I love reading reports from others who love the place! :goodvibes

I think LeCellier is a great choice. The fire place will make it even more festive and cozy. Perhaps do the boat ride together as a family and skip trying to eat at SA. This way you don't have to take turns and you won't have to worry about being too far from the festivities. I hadn't heard about making LC a 2TS. :scared1: I am glad that we have ADR's this year.

For DHS, I would go to Starring Rolls without question. We had not-so-good food at ABC. My son calls it "Already Been Chewed" :lmao:
We love the sandwiches and huge yummy deserts at Starring Rolls.

To answer your question of the day I would say that our favorite place to eat is a tie between Ohana and Boma. We love the atmosphere of both of the places. We love the family environment of each place and it goes along with why we take vacations. Throughout the year, we hustle and bustle to practices, games, work, church functions, etc. During vacation, we want to reconnect and both places offer FUN, Festive, Family Face time which is what we love about Disney.

Hi, I'm joining in, I have to go back and get caught up, but I'm looking forward to your PTR! I'm going in November, staying at WL, so we will be there around the same time, for the Christmas festivities! I stayed there last November and it was beautiful, so I couldn't not go back this year! I'm going to start a PTR for my November trip as soon as I finish my TR for May!

LTT and WCC are great choices- I hope they're just as wonderful as they were last year! I would probably go with Starring Rolls over ABC (even though our favorite CS in DHS is Pizza Planet-- the pizza with salad is a great value and so yummy). You might as well try something new and those cupcakes are incredible!!
I would also go with Le Cellier over SAI, if you can get reservations! Like you said, the atmosphere can't be beat, especially for a Christmas trip!
Our favorite restaurant in Disney is the Coral Reef! We know it gets mixed reviews, but we had absolutely amazing service, incredible food, and found the atmosphere incredibly romantic and family friendly at the same time. We can't wait to go back-- the watercress and potatoes that I stole from DBF's NY strip steak were some of the best side I've ever eaten!!
