I just found out, my husband's family has decided to draw names! Yippee! **major sarcasm intended**

It's a few days before Christmas, and they've 'decided' to draw names.

That's flipping wonderful, considering * I already had everyone's presents * - which my husband being the youngest of NINE - is A LOT of them!!

Not to mention all the nieces and nephews.

I'm just whining. :upsidedow

Ugh that stinks! I mean it is nice, except for the returns. If I were you I would hightail it to the stores to do returns BEFORE the holiday, since the cust service desk will be awful after. Get some money back :):goodvibes

Nothing like a little notice huh?? Unreal. Whine away-I would too!! I hope you can return the gifts you already bought!

Too late - tell them you can't "play"..

Nothing like waiting till the last minute - huh? :headache:

Now?! Are they nuts? Who would do that? That's just crazy. So I guess the people who came up with this genius idea haven't done their shopping yet.

So, who's actually doing the name drawing? Has it been done? Do you have your names now?

Tell them you already bought their presents...Do you even have all the reciepts still? Have you wrapped them? Some places might only give you store credit too. That's way too late to tell you something like that.

Frankly, I would think that's wonderful. I'd return every gift I bought for anyone other than the person I drew and get the money back.

I do not have the receipts (I'm really bad like that - that's my own fault), they are wrapped and I did tell them we have everyones.

Which them got me thinking - if we did not get names... does anyone have my husband or my name?? :headache:

That would annoy me to no end - I HATE returning things.

Take it as a mixed blessing, donate the gifts and be happy that next year you'll only have to buy one...I wouldn’t want to risk them going back to gifts for all next year by complaining

(can you tell i've been trying to get the family to draw names for years???)

I'm not even bothering. Everyone is getting their stupid present.

I feel a cold coming on - for next year. My throat is scratchy. I'm staying home. ;)

I'd offer to sell everyone else the presents I had already bought. Tell them for an extra $5 you'll leave them in the wrapping paper.

 Thanks. I needed that.

I know a lot of people like the draw names thing, and maybe with some notice, I would have - but I don't mind getting everyone something. I start thinking about it, in the fall.

I don't know - I'm just annoyed. :headache:

Um, why are they just now telling you? And did they give you the names of the people you are supposed to buy for? I would be really ticked if I was told 4 days before Christmas that we are now drawing names.

DH family draws names around Thanksgiving. This year they send out a revised list about 2 weeks ago because some people opted out. I would have been peeved if I had already purchased and shipped a gift to the original people we had.

What if you hand out your presents and announce that you have given you gifts for the next 9+ (however many gifts you bought equals number of years you have given your one present) years?:rotfl:

SIL tried to institute a drawing at the last moment a few years back. I already had bought all of the presents for her family. Fortunately, DH called her "Scrooge", and she has given up on the name drawing idea.

I don't think there is anything scroogey about drawing names
but -4 days notice? How about mentioning it a month or two earlier -even sooner if this is the first time you have drawn names

.

Now that's an idea!

Lemme see - 16 siblings and spouses + 12 nieces and nephews = 28 years! :thumbsup2

Great idea! I'll just put years on the tags. Merry Christmas 2010, 2011,2012.... hahahaha!

I'm kinda surprised everyone else went along with this. NO ONE bought anything?? Geez Louise.

No wonder we get things like Moose Munch and Monkey Calenders, as gifts. :lmao:
