We're Changing The Plan Again?? You mean there's a Plan? New TR Posted/Link Posted

And I am thankful I have a super cool teenage daughter that tells me I must ride these with her and her friends. We will see how long that lasts!!

Hooray for Madison!! I knew I liked that young lady! :thumbsup2

Perhaps I will do a TR when I return. It will depend on what kind of pictures I can get that I feel comfortable sharing. I will not want to broadcast the faces of the band students on the internet for obvious reasons. But if I take pictures like I normally do, I should have no problem doing a TR. I will come back and post the link here once I get it started! (or to state there will not be a TR). I really enjoy sharing my adventures and I am sad this one has come to an end. So stay tuned!!!!

What do you mean, "Perhaps I will do a TR when I return"?!?!? You gotta! Your TR's are so great and I get to live vicariously through you until I can get back to WDW. Don't make me drive 90 miles north! roflmao :rotfl2:

Thanks so much for sharing your trip! I'd love to read about your "band" trip if you choose to do a TR.

I hope that things are going well for you and your family. Prayers and kind thoughts continue to be with you.

Oh! and enjoy riding the thrill rides with you teenage daughter. That's a blessing. :goodvibes

Madison is a pretty awesome teenager! :thumbsup2

Thank you...you made me blush! I am so glad you enjoyed reading and I do believe I will write a TR on this upcoming trip. I am getting very excited!! Plus, your threat has me frightened!! :rotfl:

Thanks so much for sharing your trip! I'd love to read about your "band" trip if you choose to do a TR.

I am definitely leaning towards writing one so be on the look out for the link!

I hope that things are going well for you and your family. Prayers and kind thoughts continue to be with you.

Thank you so very much! Slowly, life is becoming "normal" again! :goodvibes

Oh! and enjoy riding the thrill rides with you teenage daughter. That's a blessing. :goodvibes

I am so excited to ride those thrill rides and making memories with Madison!

We have the itinerary!!! I can semi-plan!! :yay: I told Madison is is our version of "Mickey Mail"! Now I know where we are staying! We will be in the parks from Rope Drop until closing all three days!! :crazy2: But I tend to be a commando so no biggie for me! And our days go something like this:

Day 1: Friday, March 23 we will be at Epcot. Flower and
Garden Festival here I come!!!!! :woohoo: We will be here through Illuminations!

Day 2: Saturday, March 24 we will be at MK. I get to watch my sweet girl march in the afternoon parade (well pre-parade since it is between 2:30 and 3pm)! I guess only a Disney geek gets teary thinking about their daughter marching down Main Street USA! We will be here through Wishes!

Day 3: Sunday, March 25 is a surprise! We figured it would be only DHS but first we will go to Animal Kingdom and then to DHS at 3pm until 10pm. Then we load the buses and drive all night long home.

I am tired thinking about it but just getting this info upped my excitement level to the ultimate degree!!

The only downside is we may not be able to use Fast Passes. We chaperones have to collect tickets so using FPs may be iffy. I am "planning" now! And I am going with no FPs and use them as a bonus if we can.

Plus, I have a Disney consultant in training. Madison's friends are constantly asking for advice on all things and I must say she is giving some pretty awesome advice!!

So now back to my planning..........

Great wrap-up. I love hearing the things other folks love the most about WDW. Always fun to compare and realize there really is something for everyone at our favorite vacation place!:goodvibes

My vote for counter service at HS would have to go to Starring Rolls. Their sandwiches and........well, everything there..................look amazingly good. We only had one day at HS and my DGD chose Sci-Fi (our absolute favorite TS there) for lunch so we only got cupcakes at Starring Rolls but let me tell you they were pretty fantastic cupcakes!! You NEED to try one! :) There are pictures on the Disney Food Blog if you want a sneak peek!

I sure hope you do a trip report when you get back. A band trip with busloads of teenagers is waaaayyy different than your average family vacation!:rotfl: Should make for lots of fun and interesting stories. I'll watch for it! Hope you and Madison (and friends) have an unforgettable, awesome time!

Welcome!! :goodvibes

I think that is one thing I love about going to WDW....there is so much for everyone and so many choices that each trip can include something new!

We had breakfast at Starring Rolls and it was great! I have heard the cupcakes are awesome! I am leaning towards eating here or at least grabbing some treats for the road!

I am only slightly nervous about going with a bus full of teenagers! It will be a definite change of pace and full of unexpected experiences I am sure! We laughed reading the rules last night. They even cover "No Shoplifting: Disney does not approve and will catch you!!" as well as "NO PHOTOS OR VIDEOS BACK STAGE. DISNEY IS SERIOUS ABOUT THIS!!"

I bought a notebook today so I could begin taking notes. I am already in TR thinking mode!

I'm so glad I made it back before you headed back to Orlando!
After waiting our the heaviest part of the storm we decide to make our way to the bus stops, dodging the still lingering rain showers. This pretty well sums up how we were feeling at the time:

IMG_3164.jpg

What luck to be in the bus when the rain comes! Keith is doing what we usually end up doing on the bus zzzzzzz Catch it while ya can!:goodvibes For a minute I actually thought you caught a parade there. duh:confused3

First we make time for a Photopass pic!

Great family shot!

I have not seen the movie in Canada since I was in 6th grade (and we will not discuss how long ago that was!!).

I never seem to spend much time in Canada, though we did do the KidCot stop once while waiting for our ADR time. Hopefully we will see the movie this summer!
What a bummer that your Marakesh dinner was disappointing. The restaurant looks beautiful inside. We have eaten at Tangierene years ago and enjoyed it. Maybe next time get the QS from Tangeriene and catch the outdoor belly dance show (we saw it last spring). then the boys will be happy and the food will be yummy!

I want to say that a tear and a prayer was shed for you when I read your very sad news. Not to bring you down but to let you know my thoughts are with you.

Next up a look at a few more favorites and a little discussion on my trip...IN ONLY 26 DAYS!!!!!!!!!!:woohoo::banana:
FIrst, I am SOOO hungry now having looked at all those restaurant reviews and pictures. the Sommerfest food in particular has me drooling!
Love your rankings. You have a lot of restaurants in there that we have not done. I am looking forward to La Hacienda in June. I wish I could work in Hoop De Doo as well, it was so much fun when we went. Was it terribly expensive paying OOP vs using two meal credits?

MINI-PTR

And, of course, we have the band trip in March to look forward to! I am looking forward to seeing the Flower and Garden Festival at Epcot. I love what they can do with flowers! And I am looking forward to trying the new Nutella and Fruit Waffle at Sleepy Hollow. I have heard so many raves on it and it has been on my “musts” list since I saw it in a blog months ago! The hardest part on the band trip is not knowing much in regards to the plans!

YAY for band trip.

you know, one time at band camp......:goodvibes

QUESTION: What is recommend for CS in DHS? We have only eaten at Sci-fi and 50’s PTC plus the breakfast at Starring Rolls. After discussing on the Touring Plans chat app I think I have it narrowed down to Starring Rolls for sandwiches and either Studio Catering (by the Backlot tour) or Backlot Express. I also had Pizza Planet suggested for ok pizza. ABC Commissary seems to be iffy and most everyone said to avoid.

I vote for Studio Catering every time. Nice selection of "fresher" (i e not grease laden) foods and a shaded place to enjoy them!
And Part 2 to this question: any great snack options? I have listed (possibilities, I do not plan to eat all of this!:upsidedow) the Nutella Waffle, a Dole Whip, Cinnamon roll from Main Street Bakery, Jalapeno Cheese Pretzel, churros, Norway: school bread and rice cream, strawberry shortcake from Sunshine Seasons, pastries from France and anything caramel in Germany. Any other things I should look out for that I may not remember or know about?

if the weather (GASP) is chilly, back behind the castle is a QS place called Sleepy Hollow. When we went in '09 it was cold, and they had THE BEST mushroom soup. I don't think they have it in the summer but maybe in March. I kid you not it was so good, Katie and I stopped for some and I called Joe on the phone (he was somewhere else in the park, dunno why) and told him he HAD to come get some soup! LOL

:woohoo::woohoo: are you going to do some plan sharing here? I am not ready for the Magic to end;-)

I'm so glad I made it back before you headed back to Orlando!

Welcome back!!! :goodvibes

What luck to be in the bus when the rain comes! Keith is doing what we usually end up doing on the bus zzzzzzz Catch it while ya can!:goodvibes

I think it is one of the best places for a short power nap! Especially when it is quiet and the hum of the bus...

Great family shot!

Thanks!!

I never seem to spend much time in Canada, though we did do the KidCot stop once while waiting for our ADR time. Hopefully we will see the movie this summer!

Maybe next time get the QS from Tangeriene and catch the outdoor belly dance show (we saw it last spring). then the boys will be happy and the food will be yummy!

I have heard Tangieriene is good so I am going to give it a try sometime! One good thing about the QS places is when no one agrees you can get food from other places and meet back up. I am sure Mo' Rockin would be a huge draw to meet back up!! :lmao:

Sommerfest was a nice surprise...very good!!!!

I want to say that a tear and a prayer was shed for you when I read your very sad news. Not to bring you down but to let you know my thoughts are with you.

Thank you so much!! Better days out number the sad days but you just don't know when the sad times will hit!!

FIrst, I am SOOO hungry now having looked at all those restaurant reviews and pictures. the Sommerfest food in particular has me drooling!

Hoop de Doo was pretty $$$ OOP but then I also paid 1st tier and would probably go 2nd next time. Since I had to pay ahead of time, I wasn't aware of some of the buffets we wound up adding and could have paid OOP cheaper for those and used credits at HDDR. But either OOP or DDP credits it is so worth it and I wouldn't hesitate to do either again!!

YAY for band trip.

you know, one time at band camp......:goodvibes

We say that all the time to Madison when she says something about band!

I vote for Studio Catering every time. Nice selection of "fresher" (i e not grease laden) foods and a shaded place to enjoy them!

DHS will be in the evening followed by an all-night bus ride home. So, I think I am going to be looking for "fresher", lighter fare!! I have Studio Catering's menu saved! :goodvibes

Sleepy Hollow is a goal because that is where the Nutella and Fruit Waffle is found...I will have to look for the soup too! I love anything with mushrooms!

:woohoo::woohoo: are you going to do some plan sharing here? I am not ready for the Magic to end;-)

I have been working on my "plans" all weekend. It is driving Keith crazy!!! :lmao: I am going to begin posting updates mid-week! :goodvibes

Here is a mini-PTR for our Band Trip. This time next week Epcot will be a memory and I will be in the middle of the Magic Kingdom!!! My plans are "loose" to say the least since we have the chaperone meeting Monday night. I am unsure if our passes will allow Fast Pass collection. If they do, then things will be so much easier! Also, I may have to follow along with other chaperones so to not be considered an outcast or snob...

Thursday we will be leaving around 6:15am and arrive in Orlando at 9pm (per itinerary--we will see how that works out! ;) Lassoing 100 teenagers may be a bit challenging! But our band directors have pretty good standards and the kids seem to respect the rules. I am remaining optimistic here! :) Also we are staying off site so that will be different too!

Friday is Epcot!! I am super excited for this day! Mainly due to the Flower and Garden Festival going on!! :cloud9: Rides planned are Soarin', Test Track, Gran Fiesta and Maelstrom. I also hope to hit the movies in Canada and France for an indoor break. I have never seen Captain EO and may fit this one in plus Nemo and Spaceship Earth if at the end of the day I feel like I am able to fit it in.

Otherwise my day is dedicated to World Showcase because I simply adore this area and the many topiaries and butterfly displays. Plus I just purchased a DSLR camera and I am can't wait to try it out! I have been practicing this week and while I know I have lots to learn I think my pictures should come out okay at least!

This week was Spring Break and we spent a busy (and hot) week doing yard work. Summer seems to be here this week rather than spring but it has been absolutely gorgeous! Here are some "Spring Has Arrived" test pictures!

This one is actually with my phone:

And our peach tree:

IMG_0001.jpg

We will be at Epcot from 9am-9pm and leave as soon as Illuminations is over.

Food choices this day has been narrowed down to: Sunshine Seasons and Norway. I also hope to get caramels for Germany, churros, and maybe try out the outdoor kiosk offerings in Italy. This is open due to Tutto Italia being closed for refurb. I have heard to not get a pizza from here though...so I may try the cannoli!

Saturday is our Magic Kingdom day! We will be here from 9am - 10pm. Lots of long days! I am glad I have done this before so I am prepared! My main ride objectives are Space Mtn, Splash Mtn, Haunted Mansion, POTC, and Mickey's Philharmagic. I hope to include Carousel of Progress and TTA for a rest period. Plus I am so excited that Storybook Circus opens officially March 21!! I don't plan to ride (unless the wait is reasonable0 but I do plan to walk through and get pictures! From what I have seen on several blogs it looks amazing!!

The band is to march at 2:30pm. Technically they are not "in the parade" but will march just prior to it. Basically for them, they cannot tour between 1pm and 4pm. I am unsure if the chaperones tag along or not so I am planning nothing for this 3 hour break. I know last year, the bands we saw marching had parents along the route. If we do not have to go backstage, I will fit in something like Tom Sawyer Island and Liberty Belle. I have never done these and feel this could be a good filler choice. Good research for getting Keith back to MK! ;)

I really want to not be rushing from ride to ride and basically enjoy MK. In know for a fact I can't do everything in one day plus enjoy the atmosphere. Something has to give! I will be back so I can deal with missing some rides!

Food choices this day includes a Dole Whip float (I am going orange this trip!), a Nutella Waffle from Sleepy Hollow, and dinner at Columbia House.

Sunday we have two parks!!! First up is Animal Kingdom! We will be here 9am-3pm. I want to ride EE, the Safari, and ITTBAB! I hope to see FOTLK and Nemo (never seen this one!) and walk the trails. I am weighing Kali sonce I could get drenched and that is a long ride home after being sweaty and soaked!

For food I am thinking Flametree (another research journey for future Keith trips).

We are to meet at 3pm and load the buses for DHS. I have warned Madison that TSMM is more than likely out unless she wants to spend precious hours in line and missing out on other things! Rock-n-Roller and Tower of Terror are MUSTS!!! I hope to include The Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast since I have never seen either of these. Aside from that it is open ended and will depend on wait times and desires. Fantasmic has two showings and one is at 8pm. I may attempt this one but not certain. Depends on that crowd!!

I have narrowed food to Studio Caterings and Starring Rolls. Coming up 3rd and 4th are Backlot Express and ABC Commissory. A lot will depend on where I am when hunger hits!

We are to leave at 10pm and begin the drive home. We are to be back at the school at 9am Monday. I am praying the bus drivers get plenty of rest!!

So that is what my (next) weekend looks like!! It is hard to believe we leave in 5 days!!! And it will be over so fast! :sad1:

On another note, Keith had told me to see if I could plan a quick trip in July. :yay: But since we enjoy the food so much---particularly table service meals---and for him POR/POFQ are the must resorts (due to the boat. He calls the resorts the "ride boats to DTD resort" and can't remember the real names! :headache:) Fitting that in with the budget he has given me is proving challenging to say the least. So if that doesn't happen he said to plan one for later or next year!! :goodvibes So maybe a future trip isn't unheard of for the time being! :woohoo:

I do plan to write up a TR so be on the lookout. I think I may have to explain to chaperones why I am taking pictures of food...:rotfl: This should be an interesting trip and who knows what the TR will turn out like!! I suppose that story is just waiting to be written!!!

Yeaaaa...looking forward to this TR!

Thursday we will be leaving around 6:15am and arrive in Orlando at 9pm (per itinerary--we will see how that works out! ;)
Shouldn't take that long from MS but then I forgot about this...

Oooooh...take lots of pics. DW and I are planning to go to F&G May, 2013 for the first time. I'm looking forward to your report. EPCOT and WS are my favorites...mainly because of the food choices (as my ever expanding waistline indicates).

I am weighing Kali since I could get drenched and that is a long ride home after being sweaty and soaked!

For food I am thinking Flametree (another research journey for future Keith trips).
You gotta ride Kali River Rapids! Get a cheap poncho from a dollar store and you won't get too wet. I love Flametree BBQ...just beware of the animals trying to steal your food outside!

Rock-n-Roller and Tower of Terror are MUSTS!!!
That's a given!

I hope to include The Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast since I have never seen either of these.
Seriously? Even I, the manly man I am :lmao: (that sounds like something from a Dr. Seuss book) loves Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast. You can get some great pics with your new camera.

On another note, Keith had told me to see if I could plan a quick trip in July. :yay: But since we enjoy the food so much---particularly table service meals---and for him POR/POFQ are the must resorts (due to the boat. Yippee! Another option to consider is renting points from a DVCer.

 Yes, when we drive it is full steam ahead and we are there in no time!

We were there in 2009 for F&G which makes me even more excited to be there this year!!

I have some cheapo ponchos, hopefully we will have no rain and I can use it here! :thumbsup2 Animals stealing your food!?!? :scared1:

Seriously? Even I, the manly man I am :lmao: (that sounds like something from a Dr. Seuss book) loves Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast. You can get some great pics with your new camera.

I have not managed to fit them in but hopefully I can change that by this time next week! Keith likes Beauty and the Beast so maybe I can twist his arm!

Yippee! Another option to consider is renting points from a DVCer.

I am definitely looking into this option! This trip the military discount just may make a trip possible! :yay: But I plan to rent points soon!! I have been investigating this option!!

Again...looking forward to it. Don't worry about the other chaperones wonder why you are taking pics of food...they are from MS too and you know how much we all love our food!! :worship:

So true! Which also makes our state tops in so many bad things!! :rotfl: But food is soooo good!! Have you eaten at Leatha's!? :cloud9:

Your trip sounds great. How does the chaperoning work, do you have a group of kids with you or are they allowed to go off on their own for a bit?

Great pictures with your new camera. Which camera did you get? Right now my change jar that is usually for Disney is getting saved to buy a DSLR in the fall. Not sure which one though:confused3

:banana:for a possible trip in July. I having seeing the pictures of the new princess rooms and they are so pretty. I really like the new AB rooms too, but I still don't love the regular mansion rooms though. I hope your trip works out.:thumbsup2

Well, it at least sounds like you have a semi-plan in place. I know that it's hard to plan anything when all you know is what park you will be in on a specific day. I don't mean to sound mean but hopefully you won't have to follow a lot of other chaperones around and can just take a group of the kids and go-go-go. I'm sure that Madison has already filled her friends in on what kind of tour guide you are. ;)

Your food choices sound really good. I look forward to hearing how you liked the orange float and the new Nutella waffle. Lacey is a Nutella fan and I haven't told her about the new waffle yet. Hopefully, you'll come back with a raving review.

:banana:for a possible trip in July. I having seeing the pictures of the new princess rooms and they are so pretty. I really like the new AB rooms too, but I still don't love the regular mansion rooms though. I hope your trip works out.:thumbsup2

We can go our own ways on the trip. I will have 10 students assigned to me. They are to report to me and I have to hold their passes. Once we get into the park each day, then everyone can go their own way. The kids do not have to remain in their "group" either. The rule is basically have at least two together at all times.

I got the Canon Rebel T3 DSLR. Best buy had a great sale on it. I originally had gone in for the Nikon but the Rebel is supposedly the most user friendly. It gets great reviews and since I am a novice, I decided to go with it. I have been saving off and on for 3 years and finally was able to buy one! :yay:

I agree on the princess rooms. I haven't seen rooms from the AB though! I preferred the decor in the POFQ rooms over the mansion rooms! The mansion rooms were a little froo-froo for me!

I was looking at the wait times on my Touring Plan app all weekend to get an idea of waits since the crowd level is estimated the same. I kept showing Madison and telling her this is why you need to have a plan! :lmao: I hope that there is either a cool chaperone that likes to ride, the kids let me hang with them or else I can walk solo. I don't mind walking around by myself but I am not into riding alone. I will sit alone on a ride but I don't like standing in line alone. Hopefully they will see "what kind of tour guide you are. ;)" and want me to guide them!! :lmao:

Sadly, I am just all about food! I will be sure to make a special note for Lacey on the waffle!

Have you eaten at Leatha's!? :cloud9:

You mean that little cabin out Hwy 98W hidden behind the camper sales place? Never heard of it! :rotfl2: Oh yes, Ms. Leatha is an institution in these parts. But to be honest, I actually prefer the bbq at Flame Tree in Animal Kingdom! Maybe it's because I can eat at Leatha's anytime but eating at FTBBQ means I'm at WDW! :cool1:

Yes, I believe that is the place I am referring to! :rotfl: It is legendary! We have eaten Leatha's BBQ since it was by the railroad tracks in Columbia!

Flametree is better!? Well I am definitely hitting that place up!! I know what you mean about enjoying places more because they are at WDW! There is just something more special when you are eating there! :)
