We're Changing The Plan Again?? You mean there's a Plan? New TR Posted/Link Posted

We finish eating and with very full and satisfied tummies we head off (much to Chris' chagrin) to some stores!!

First up was Mickey's Pantry...a few store photos!

I loved this tea set and wished I had a little girl to buy it for! It is a Sleeping Beauty Tea Set

IMG_1210.jpg

I also really liked this Alice tea set:

Some fun shots:

IMG_1209.jpg

We left there and go to

IMG_1211.jpg

One of my favorite Disney Princesses!!

IMG_1212.jpg

We head out and over to the Design a Tee and wander around. But first a picture with those cute brooms...

IMG_1213.jpg

Madison finds these prints that she just "has" to have.....

IMG_1214.jpg

IMG_1215.jpg

IMG_1216.jpg

Then we meet back up with Chris...he had chosen to sit on a bench during this time!...and go to Goofy's Candy Company!!! This place is so much fun and puts my sweet-tooth senses on overload!!

I believe this is a good place to call it a night....I mean for this post! We still have a lot more to cover for the evening!! ;) Including a special little treat!!

Oh, YAY!! I found your TR (well, at the top of the page, was kinda hard to miss!!) -- !!

Now, I'll go back & read -- can't wait!!

Vickie

Your first day sounds like a lot fun, and earl of sandwich is always such a great choice for a meal.

Can't wait to see which building you guys got at Port Orleans:goodvibes

I am so glad you found me!! This makes me so excited! I was just thinking of you and Melissa this afternoon!! :woohoo:

So far the day had been great! Not rushed at all and we were just wandering around doing as we pleased.

Without saying too much...I loved the building we got!!! :goodvibes

Your hotel room looks nice. I never think about staying on I-drive because so many of the hotels look ancient.

Your sandwiches look super yummy!!! Earl of Sandwich is still on my list to try someday.

I LOVE the Aurora tea set. I need to make plans now to avoid that store or I will come home with it in July.

Mmmmm... Goofy's! One of everything please.

I don't blame you one bit for staying at the Quality Inn your first night. Why pay for a Disney room when you can get a room free? Like you said, even if you did have to pay, it would have only be $59. That's a good deal!

I'm always itching to do something once we get to Disney too. I have "issues" with sitting still while on vacation. Downtown Disney was a great place to start your vacation.

Your sandwiches at Earl of Sandwich look so good. In all of our trips to DTD, we have never eaten there.

The hotel is older. We even stayed there in 1999 when we took Madison, but the rooms have been updated and are pretty contemporary. So while the outside looks older, the inside is very updated!

The sadnwiches are so yummy!! You need to try it one day!! :thumbsup2

I almost wish i had gotten that tea set because I just loved it so much! And, I could do some serious damage in Goofy's!!! :cloud9:

I had contemplated using the military discount and adding a room only at the resort, but "Free" won out in the end! Who can argue with that??

I think I mentioned on your report when you commented about dropping your bags and running...I am the same way! I may take a mini-break but then I am ready to go! I am at Disney and want to fit every second in I can! DTD has become our 1st night tradition!

You need to try EOS sometime...very yummy!!

I last left off with us exiting Goofy's Candy Company. We had been doing everything very leisurely and we were just relaxed and happy to be in our happy little world. We left the Goofy store area and saw these guys in the Pin Store...

IMG_1225.jpg

I just love Donald and Daisy! :lovestruc

We cross the path over to Once Upon a Toy because Madison has a crush (I guess since she was all about him this trip) on Mr. Potato Head.

IMG_1226.jpg

IMG_1227.jpg

I tell her she cannot leave Buzz out. He was standing all by himself and looked a bit lonely!!

IMG_1228.jpg

Then we make our way to one of the areas I really wanted to see since it had just been "enhanced"!

The crowds are beginning to increase!

IMG_1229.jpg

And the sun is setting on a beautiful Florida day!

IMG_1230.jpg

IMG_1233.jpg

Then we make it to our destination!

IMG_1239.jpg

The Lego Store!!! I adore all of the Lego figures they make and many new ones were added!!!!

I am in love with Toy Story! It is my all time favorite!! And since I am a HUGE Tom Hanks fan....I love Woody!! :goodvibes

IMG_1238.jpg

The Snow White additions are pretty cool too!!

IMG_1241.jpg

IMG_1242.jpg

IMG_1243.jpg

IMG_1245.jpg

We make our way inside to look for my nephew a Lego souvenir and find out very quickly how loud this place can get! Needless to say, the noise level drove us out within minutes!!! But on our way out I spot......

IMG_1248.jpg

WOODY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh, and Buzz Lightyear too....

IMG_1247.jpg

One last shot as we exited the building:

IMG_1250.jpg

So where next???? We make a bee line for

IMG_1257.jpg

We look around for awhile and my mom tries to get ideas for my nieces and nephews souvenirs she has promised them! It was so crowded!! We got seperated and lost many, many times!

There is a scene in Anchorman where the news team men are having a ...uhmm...discussion with the producer (I guess) about the new lady and they are all yelling. Steve Carell's character (rather than yelling out any comments pertinent to the "conversation") yells "So much noise!!!!". I mention this because in our family we are very big on using movie quotes (or variations) in our everyday life circumstances.

We had watched this movie on the drive down thus it was very fresh in my mind. At one point I found myself in the room with all of the autograph books and stuffed animals trying to make my way through and saying "So many people!!!!! So many people!!!!!" I may have walked in circles some too....I can't remember very well! It was very, very crowded and I do not like feeling clausterphobic in a store of all places!!! We did not make any purchases but we had definitely started a "Wish List"!!! A few pictures I snapped while in World of Disney!!

IMG_1251.jpg

IMG_1252.jpg

An interesting take on Mickey and Minnie. I am sure there is a reason for this design!

IMG_1253.jpg

Everyone's (uhmmm) "favorite" bear!

IMG_1254.jpg

Why does Lotso have to be so mean??? He is so cute and he really smells like strawberries!! You can just imagine what people thought seeing a grown adult woman smelling a bear and taking its picture with no small children in her care. This was around the time I was walking in circles and exclaiming "So many people!!!" I am sure that someone was about to call the men with the little white coats and have me wisked away!!!

I totally would have purchased this if I had thought Keith would have let me put it on the car. I knew he wouldn't so it remained on the shelf. But I got a picture!!!

IMG_1255.jpg

This room was pretty empty and I was glad for the reprieve! I thought this was a nifty little display!

IMG_1256.jpg

We exit World of Disney and head to a store I always miss because Keith rolls his eyes at me. This was my chance!!!.....

IMG_1259.jpg

Another stores that can put your senses on overload! But there were some very cool stuff and I did make one purchase here!

Love the soaps! I made Chris "volunteer" to show what this soap log looked like! :rolleyes1

IMG_1260.jpg

IMG_1261.jpg

Madison takes a whiff. Unfortunately I missed the next second where she begins gasping because she enhaled too much of the scent!

IMG_1262.jpg

Lovely soap balls!!

IMG_1263.jpg

Okay, so we have pretty much done everything we wanted today!!

We left relatively close to 4am! We ate breakfast at Cracker Barrel! We made it by 5pm to the hotel~even with our stops and mis-turns! We ate at Earl of Sandwich! We have hit every store we wanted to visit! The plan is working out pretty good!! :thumbsup2 So we have one thing left on our list for the night and I will call Day 1 complete and successful!!!!

I believe I hear ice cream calling my name!!!! Ghiradelli's it is!!!!

Now I really wanted to try the Gold Rush but it was around 9pm and I wasn't sure I really wanted that much ice cream so I stuck with a malt. My mom got a latte (that she says was not great). Chris got the Espresso Escape. Madison had The Haight AshBerry.

Mine and Chris' treats

IMG_1265.jpg

And Madison's:

IMG_1264.jpg

We head outside and there is a magician performing so we decide to watch while we eat our ice cream. A couple of poor pictures. He moved too fast for my little point and shoot camera!

IMG_1267.jpg

IMG_1271.jpg

We then called it a night! We had plans to be at check-in very early the next morning!! So far, my planning is working great. What will Day 2 hold??? I hope it is good becasue we are going to Magic Kingdom!!

I am so totally with you on the crowds in the stores...wow! When I know we have to be in a store that's really crowded and I get bored, I start in with crowd behavior stuff:

-- Go over to a clearance or sale rack, and act excited as you go through it. You will inevitably attract attention from other women, no matter how mundane or not a good deal that it is -- they will join you.

-- Try to stand where you think no one wants to look. Spread yourself out as much as possible and look unmovable. Count how many seconds it takes for someone to decide that you are in their way.

-- Look for hidden Mickeys. Find one and show it to someone in your party. When someone else figures out what you are doing and tries to listen in or see what you're pointing at, abruptly walk away.

I know, I'm mean. :rolleyes1

Mean-WHILE, I am loving your easy-in to WDW via DTD! I love to start that way, too -- or, even end that way. And, I'll "join the crowd" and say I need to try a sandwich!!

I  the new Lego creations! I can't wait to see those. It was so sad when the area was closed in March.

We have never been in the Basin store. The prices don't look too bad.

Crowded stores are miserable. They stress me out because I am always worried that I am going to lose someone.

Your Ghiradelli treats look :cloud9: as always. Such a yummy place!

What a perfect first day! It always feels nice to check of everything on your list. :thumbsup2

Great start!
Food and shopping- that sounds like the perfect first night to me!
Looking forward to reading more!

That is too funny!! :rotfl: I need to try that plan of attack next time! I really do not like shopping when it is crowded. Christmas is completed by October....people are just way too crazy and at times rude!! :)

Yes you do need to eat a sandwich there! Beginning our trip at DTD sort of acts like a teaser and builds our excitement for park days!!

:goodvibes:goodvibes I am here!!! Cannot wait to begin reading! :goodvibes

Hooray!! So glad you made it! (BTW: do you plan to do a TR?)

If you go to DTD in July you do need to try to see the Lego creations...they amaze me how they build those things! And the Basin store was surprisingly affordable! I really thought it would be expensive.

We really enjoyed the ice cream treats. I just wish I had been hungry enough for the Gold Rush!

I'm joining! I can't wait to hear more.

Welcome! So happy that you are joining in on our little adventure!

Great start!

Thanks! :goodvibes I have to agree that food and shopping is a great way to start. Chris would say the food was but not so much the shopping! :lmao:

The Quality Inn room looks pretty nice for $59 bucks. Sometimes I question my need to stay onsite.

How cool that Stacey was on TV even off site.

EOS looks so good. I meant to try it this time but the night we were at DTD was like 200 degrees and I didn’t want anything to heavy. I think I ended up with some pita chips as dinner that night. Stupid heat ruining my desire to eat.

The Lego displays were amazing. I loved the Sleeping Beauty dragon fighting Prince Phillip. We never made it into the store, but it looks pretty cool.

The story of you walking around in circles, talking to yourself and holding a Lotso is hysterical! :lmao:
There are always way too many people in that store.

Basin and Ghirardelli… lovely way to end a night at DTD.:)

Great update! We like doing DTD on our first afternoon/evening too, it's a great way to start getting into the Disney spirit!! I have to agree about how loud and crazy World of Disney is! Every time we have been there it has just been nuts!! I love to shop in there but I don't find it as fun as it could be with all those people!!

I didn't know there were new Lego scenes put up! They are so awesome! We are big Toy Story fans so I especially love those scenes!! I think the Lego creations are so amazing!! Looking forward to hearing about your first park day!!!

Loving your TR!!!
I agree with you about WOD. That place was a madhouse when we were there as well. I was so freaked out I might lose one of the kids and DH wasn't making it any easier with his darting off. I couldn't wait to get out of there but we did manage to spend $400 in souvenirs....OUCH!

I have started my TR! Yippppeee! Only got the intros out of the way and am currently trying to download my 350+ pics into Photobucket. My TR title is:

Trains, Floods and Gigantic Cicadas...Nothing Will Keep Us From WDW!!
See my siggie for links.

Cannot wait to read more. I love all your cliffhangers!!!!:cloud9:

I am huge into staying onsite but if I was going the budget route I would defintely stay there again. It was very nice. We just love the conveniences of being onsite--I hate driving and even waiting on buses are not that bad when I think about me having to fight the traffic! Plus, since we can get the military discounts, we could stay at a Value resort for around $72.00 if we wanted.

We had some very warm days and I opted out of a lot of things I wanted to eat/drink because it was just too hot!

I have been to WOD once on a Thursday afternoon and it was wonderful! Actually all of DTD was great! That was when I really began appreciating DTD more!

I think everyone knows how great World of Disney is so they all head there! Before we got there I told my mom it was liek teh Wal-Mart of Disney---almost everything sold is foudn there except the specialty type things.

The Lego creations were awesome and of course I laready stated my obsession with Toy Story!! :rotfl: I hope to have a post up on our first park day within a few days...trying to get those last pictures organized to post!! :goodvibes

Thankfully we all had cell phones because we got lost. And we used the giant characters hanging from the ceiling as directional tools! I always budget around $350 for souvenirs but I do not have little ones to buy for....so that is for myself! :goodvibes However, I try not to think about how much I am spending!!

Foudn your TR!! :goodvibes and glad you like those cliffhangers! :thumbsup2
