Well, we really got back Thursday but I’m just now finding time to post this! We met We4Mickey at FW!! Her group was riding around on bikes waiting for their site to be ready and she said hi when she saw the inflatable Tigger and Pooh! Later when they got settled they were in our loop (1700)! It was great meeting another Diser!!

We had a great time—the weather was mostly lovely and the crowds were quite manageable. We were able to do all that we wanted to do with only short waits. The campground was as full as I’ve ever seen it—when one site would empty it would almost always be filled by dark. We met some really nice campers and we had lots of other kids in our loop for the rugrat to play with. We met some really nice dogs, too, including the 5 corgis in the site right next to us!

We did have a blow-out on the way down—on I-75 in north Florida—but Progressive Insurance and Dale’s Tire Service in Gainesville really came through for us and we were only on the side of the interstate for about an hour. Not fun, but no injuries and only a little damage (the mudflap was a goner, and the exhaust pipes will need some adjusting).

Okay, we’re planning on our next trip. That’s the only way I can keep my sanity! Any questions from people with a trip planned?

Welcome back! Glad you had a good trip!

Did you happen to notice if the "Family Plan" boat/bike rental was now available at FW? They had discontinued it recently while they got the new water mice in and they said the plan would be available again in April. We are headed down on Friday and we're really hoping to be able to have unlimited use of the bikes/boats with this plan!

Thanks!

I think it was. IIRC there was info about the plan in the Gazette that they give you on check-in. I saw plenty of the boats available!

We just got back a week ago. We were going to do the Family Plan but:

> The plan is now $239 for 10 days (said they increased the price because they lengthened the days)

> It was crowded when we were there - having to come back with the boat every 30 min and then wait in line for 20-30 min for another boat would not have been cost/time-effective

> Able to get a 15% discount with either an AP or AAA on the hourly rates, but not on the packages

Because of the crowds and the lack of a discount on the package, we took out 4 boats for 1 hr and it cost $108 including tax. That really was enough for me because of how busy it was on the lake/lagoon.

I've got the sheet in front of me and below are the two marina plans for Ft. Wilderness (Water Mouse & Pontoon Boats only):

Captain Plan
Max 4 hrs of Boat Rental for your Party $125 plus Tax

Family Plan
10 days for equipment $239 plus tax. Up to 4 guests per plan.

Are the New boats the same as the old ones or was there any upgrade of boat or motors?

The boats are new, but I believe they put some of the old motors on them. According to my DH who rode them last year, they are MUCH better and MUCH faster.

Glad you're home safe!

And good to know you're in the planning stages for the next trip. Good way to keep the blues away!! :sunny:

I agree, it does leave you feeling a little down. But there's always the next time.

BTW, last year after we got home, we discovered we had left a video in the cabin. I called the FW number and reported it, and believe it or not, they found the video and mailed it back to us within about a week! It's those kind of things that make you really appreciate that place.

As I speak, I am already trying to convince my husband that it's not too soon to think about next year. He says let's wait until after this trip is over first. :(

After I read your post from when you were leaving for FW I wondered if y'all had a nice time...glad you did! Have fun planning the next one! :sunny:

Hey Campingcorgi,

It was great to meet you at the Fort. We had a great time. Things lightened up a bit after you left. We actually had a couple of empty sites the 21st and 22nd. It is always great to meet a fellow diser. We are already talking about the next trip:bounce:
