It has less to do with your Use Year and more to do with the occupancy of your unit. Again, even though DVC allows us to book resorts that are not our Home (share other people's Homes) you cannot participate in that sharing process until your Home is part of the program. The opening date for your unit is March 1st, so that is the earliest you could book a stay on your own points.
Look at it this way--you couldn't go to someone and agree to trade houses with them, and then say "oh, by the way, I'm going to move into your house now, but you can't live in my house until March."
Someone who has an August 2005 Use Year but owns points in the same unit as you could borrow their points and stay anytime after March 1st.
The March 1st unit opening date carries the most relevance.
You'd have to ask Member Services about the point transfer issue. Since your closing will not occur until some point in February, there may be limitations on the actions that you can take with your specific account.
You will probably find that most renters prefer not to transfer points anyway. DVC restricts transfers to one direction (either into or out of your account) per year. Again, you'll have to find out from MS whether it's permitted or not. But it would be just as easy to have the member make a reservation in your name.
Furthermore, if you're interested in renting points, why not just take the Developer's Points option from DVC instead of the $10 per point credit? You will pay at least $10 per point to rent.
The member number is significant because you can call today and book a stay after March 1st if you so desire.
