Welcome to the cruise board. First, if you could please, try not and post in all caps. It is the equilivent of shouting.

2nd as for being bored. I suggest you check out these two sites:

www.castawayclub.com & www.dcltribute.com

They both contain the menus and navigators from recent cruises. You will see that a cruise vacation is full of things to do or not do as you so wish.

As for how much you will spend. The best start is the disney site itself. It lets you pick the date you want and the category you want. Then you can shop around. I like using Dreams Unlimited as they often have rebates. Others have their favorite booking agents as well.

As for the flu season - that is a fact of life both in cruising, at Disney or even at home. If you take proper care (hand washing etc.) you should be fine.

The problem will be trying to decide what to do! There is so much to do if you want and if you don't want, you can just chill!

As far as getting sick, there are no guarantees! Just remember, wash those hands!

As far as cost, it depends on when you want to cruise and which category. You can get a quote right on the Disney Site! As far as incidentals, that's up to you. Excursions are extra but in my opinion well worth the extra costs!

Happy Sailing!

There is so much to do on the ship I can honestly say in four past cruises I still have not done it all..
For a family of four you easilly could fit in one cabin, the price will range widely from which catagory you select to which season, if you pick a low cat. in off season you could cruise relatively inexpensively, if you pick a higher cat. in high season expect to spend in excess of 5000.00 for the week. (and that will go even higher in peak season)
As for the "flu" I have been as I said on four previous trips two of which were on "infected" ships, we washed our hands a lot and used hand sanitizer and were fine. the "flu" is everywhere.
welcome to the cruise board and I am sure if you decide to go you will have a grand time!

Ditto to Scratch42.
We usually veg out on a cruise....but not with DCL.
So much to do, and we don't even have kids.

You will NOT be bored! I did alot of research before our first cruise and knew most of the fun things to do and see on the ship but, even on a 7 day sailing we did not have enough time.

We are also a family of 4. You will fit in all category of staterooms except for Category 7, which only holds 3 people.

Categories 12, 11, and 10 are inside cabins which means you have no window or verandah, only a door which leads in and out, from the hallway.

Categories 9 and 8 have portholes which are large round windows that don't open, but you they give you a great view outside.

Categories 6, 5, and 4 are verandah staterooms which mean they have sliding glass doors that lead to a private balcony.

Categories 3, 2, and 1 are the suites, which hold, I believe from 4-7 people, but are relatively expensive.

All the cabins that sleep 4 people have a queen sized bed that can also convert into 2 twin beds, plus a sofa that converts to a twin bed, and a bunk bed that folds down from the ceiling and is directly over the sofa/bed.

We opted to get a category 6 cabin for our family because we wanted to have the balcony. We could've gone with 2 inside cabins and let our sons have their own cabin, but we decided against that, in favor of the balcony.

As for price, it varies greatly, depending on which cruise you want to go on; 3 or 4 nights? 7 nights? Also, it depends on the specific week you choose. When are you thinking of cruising??
Here is a web site our of travel agent that lists the exact prices for each week, it can be very helpful when trying to figure out the cost of the cruise: www.allseastravel.com

Hope this helps, and don't hesitate to ask more questions! :)

Very simply and quickly, if you like or love WDW then I think you will like or love the Disney cruise line. We are HUGE fans of Walt disney world and thought like you for several years. But it just took one Disney cruise of love the ship as well.

P.S. - oh those caps, we love the small letters.. :)

First of all sorry for the caps didnt realize it was so important to use lowercase letters.
Thank all of you for your imput. We really need to have two rooms and am trying to figure out what the cost would be.
We are considering a 4 day cruise with 4 days at WDW.
My son is 17 and my daughter is 11 just thought they may be to old to be excited about a disney cruise.
I will check out the website suggested for prices.
Where do I find the schedule of when its the reg, value, etc time to sail. Thanks again. :earsgirl:

We took our first Disney cruise when DD was about 10 and DS was about 14. They had a wonderful time and are looking forward to March. DD will be almost 13 and DS will be almost 17 this time.

I don't think they'd be bored. If they don't like the club, there are so many activities to choose from.

Chances are you will be dissapointed not doing MORE!
I have a HUGE list of things I am going to do! There are so many activities onboard and in excursions.

I have a family of four too. My kids are young, so we look for a cabin that fits four. My husband and I have the bed and the kids either share a couch that folds out into a bed OR bunk beds. Our last trip we had a CAT 6 with a VERANDAH, which I loved! (FOUR DAY WONDER)

There was a privacy curtain, but if the kids had to go to the bathroom, they had to go by our section. If we wanted to go to the Verandah and they were still sleeping, we had to open the door right by them.

We are with the DVC club now, so we used points on a lower category so we could go for a week this time. But, hey, I am still going on a Cruise!

If I had teenagers or really wanted more privacy with my spouse, I would have my own room. The ideal situation for me would be to have connecting Verandah rooms OR We would have a verandah room and they would have the inside room across the hall.
