Wendy's Salads

Did they get rid of all the dressings too? Each one of the new salads has a dressing in its description but I would perfer to try plain Ranch on the Baja salad (don't want something that is hot from Jalapenos) and that may be better on the Cobb too.

Oh darn, I LOVED their BLT salad and Mandarin Chicken salad. I don't like blue cheese so that cancels out two of the salads, I don't really care for chicken caesar salad and I don't like eggs.

Picky, aren't I?:laughing:

I think those two are still being sold. They are both listed on the site
http://www.wendys.com/food/Product.jsp?family=3&product=13

I hope they are still being sold. I will probably head to Wendy's tomorrow or on Tuesday.

I remember those. The Wendy's in my area still had the salad bars until the mid or late 90's.

I remember those as well. My brothers and dad loved going there. They still had one till I was in high school so I guess 95 or 96 was the last I saw of a Wendy's buffet.

Those salads look yummy but I cant believe the sodium content they put into a supposed healthy option. Should a salad really have nearly 1400mg of sodium? Yikes!!

The WW points of the new salads are just too much to "spend" on a salad, for me.

I really liked the Taco Salad because it was fairly low in points.

Oh well...I sent in my complaint - hopefully I am not the only person out there - and maybe they will bring them back one day.

I love the new salads and that they have the lower calorie ranch dressing back. The cheese are far superior and I *LOVE* that you can get a medium sized salads. The others were too big and full of calories with all the cheese and extra meat. The new medium size is perfect.

Wendy's changed their taco salad? Yeah they did, about 20 years ago. Use to be a good meal, then they changed it to just being a small salad. Can't be bothered by them changing again because I haven't had a good Wendy's taco salad for about 20 years now.

I used to get the old taco salad all the time. I wish they never changed it to begin with!

Aren't those cranberries so good with the apples? and I love that Pomegrante dressing.

I actually did not realize that they had replaced the old salads with these new ones, I just thought they were an addition. I always like new things on a menu but don't understand taking away something that was working. I also find it odd that they would choose to have at least two salads with blue cheese and it not be something you can choose to leave off.

I'm sure you could leave the blue cheese off. I watched them make my apple pecan salad yesterday: they took the salad out of the fridge, put it over by where they cook the chicken, the gal scooped the blue cheese onto the salad then added the chicken...so the blue cheese was not on it in the fridge.

After this thread we decided to go over to Wendys and have salads last night. I was underwhelmed. I had the Cobb and the lettuce was brown and wilted. NOT what I expect when I pay $6 for a salad. DH reminded me we can get soup and salad at Olive Garden for .95 more and have a fresh salad with soup and bread sticks thrown in!! I think I will pass on them.

Isn't that the truth!!! One day my sis and I were craving salads and thought about going to Wendys (we were at Target at the time) we decided it would be a better value to go to OG.

Oh, ok. That's good to know for anyone that doesn't like it. Hmmm. Wonder if they would give it to you in a container on the side then? I like it but would just like to have a little less of it.

I loved the Mandarin Chicken . I'd odmit the crispy noodles & use 1/2 the dressing. It was then a pretty healthy option. I hate the new salads. To many weird ingredients. Thanks for the link. I filled it out.;)

27 grams of FAT on that salad..

Nothing healthy about any of those salads. Be warned

The Oriental Sesame dressing has one of the highest fat & sugar contents I've ever seen. But, it tastes so good! :)

I found what may be a copycat recipe to make at home that may be healthier:

http://allrecipes.com//Recipe/asian-chicken-salad/Detail.aspx

Ingredients

* 2 tablespoons brown sugar
* 2 teaspoons soy sauce
* 1 tablespoon sesame oil (optional)
* 1/4 cup vegetable oil
* 3 tablespoons rice vinegar

Prepare the dressing 30 minutes ahead of time by combining the brown sugar, soy sauce, sesame oil, salad oil, and rice vinegar in a salad dressing carafe. Serves 6.

A few of the reviews actually said it is a dead ringer for Wendy's Oriental sesame dressing. :yay:

Wow! Lots of folks with opinions on the new salads! Very interesting.

I had no idea about the nutritional info, either. And had never even considered going to Olive Garden.

The things I learned from the DIS!

Wendy's was recently bought out by Arby's. (I live in the same town as the Wendy's headquarters.) Our town had the best Wendy's of any we've ever tried elsewhere. Since the buy out, they've changed everything, upped the prices and the quality and service has really deteriorated. It's so disappointing.

Not to mention, we have severe nut and avacado allergies in my family, so with the addition of the salads, we can't risk the cross contamination.
Not really all that heartbroken, just miss the "old" Wendy's.
