I have had terrible insomnia lately and have been watching ALOT of infomercials, I am seriously considering buying this. Has anyone ever tried it? Likes/Dislikes? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I've used it! I actually really liked the Almond Mint. I only used the Conditioner (that also cleans), and it really left my hair soft and clean.

My only suggestion is to take into account how much hair you have to how many pumpsof product you use. I have medium/long hair, and the bottle instructs to use like 15-10 pumps, I only need about 12 or 13. Also, make sure to rinse out VERY THOROUGHLY. If you don't, you'll have a bit of greasy hardness in your hair that won't go away until you wash again.

The thing is you don't need a product like WEN to do what WEN is promoting.

You can co-wash (see: http://www.ehow.com/how_4456350_cowash-your-hair.html OR http://www.glamourandlove.com/2009/06/what-is-co-washing.html ) with any conditioner.

I only actually wash my hair every 3 or 4 days - but between those days, I co-wash everyday.

My hair is colored, bleached, blow dryed and flat ironed (or hot curled) every single day. And you absolutely would not know it. Hair doesn't need to be washed everyday - WEN is right. But WEN is just filling a gap in the market, that black women have known about for years - and that's simply to not wash your hair everyday, but condition it.

I'm white, BTW. But I learned this way back when, in Cosmetology School.

Do the "WEN system" with any conditioner, and I think you'll be pleased with the results. :cloud9:

ETA - Tony Curtis seemed to like my hair! See:

I tried it, didn't like it (I have fine, thin stick-straight hair) so I gave it to my DSIL who has thick curly hair and she loved it.

I just started co-washing too! I really like it so far. I've been doing it for about 2 weeks after seriously contemplating Wen and then finding out about co-washing. I've been using Suave naturals. What do you like?

I'm kinda-sorta-ever-so-slightly a shampoo snob. Alright, I admit it - I'm a horrible shampoo snob. :rolleyes1

So - there's plenty of brands I like: Moroccan Oil's Mask, CHI's Tone & Shine are the 2 I've been going back and forth between, as of late.

BUT - on a side note to EVERYONE - ULTA has their 2 for $20 liters sale, going on, right now. It's an excellent deal, and run's until the 23rd this month.

Matrix, TiGi, Redken.... all the major brands. :thumbsup2

I wondered about the Wen too. I have seen those infomercials.
I tried the 'just condition' method for a week recently. It made my scalp itchy and my hair flat and limp. My scalp didn't feel clean and I worried that it didn't smell clean either, although I was probably being paranoid. So I'll be sticking with the typical shampoo/conditioner method. My hair is colored every 3 months but it doesn't have that damaged look anyway.

Wen has the shampoo in it, so your hair does feel clean when you use it, rather than a regular conditioner that would only moisturize rather than take care of the cleaning aspect as well.

you don't find that it weighs your hair down at all or makes it look greasy ? if not, this is an awesome solution !! I keep thinking that my hair is looking kind of dry and blah, but this might be a good pick me up. do you find that your hair looks shinier and softer ? (it looks great in your picture!)

So I have oily hair, really oily, if I don't shower and wash it daily it's just gross. But I too saw the infomercial for WEN and wondered....would it work for me?

I did not like WEN as a shampoo it left my hair oily looking and limp. I like it as a conditioner. I have ALWAYS been a wash your hair everyday kind of girl. My hair is horribly dry. How exactly does this conditioning wash work. By reading, it sounds like you wash maybe twice per week and use conditioner all the other days in between. Do you every skip any days and do nothing except styling? I use a flat iron daily. I usually don't blow dry; wash, let it dry on its own and iron it out in the mornings.

What if you are an oily girl? I get super greasy hair about 20 hours after I shampoo, less if I go to sleep. Help!!! LOL

No - not at all. Does not weigh it down, and yes, it's absolutely shiny and soft.

For those of you worried about cleansing properties, you can add a few drops of Tea Tree Oil or a cap full of SeaBreeze to your conditioner.

Thanks for this tip !! I will definately try this !!!

I have to disagree, my hair never felt clean with Wen. I used it for about 5 months until my boss finally asked me to do something because my hair looked unprofessional and asked if I was starting menopause early. I used the directions and it still turned out looking dirty and feeling dirty. My sister and neice also had the same issue.

Wen does not have shampoo in it, as in a "shampoo and conditioner". It is a cleanser. Not as heavy as a regular retail conditioner. I have been using Wen on my very long, thick, wavy/straightened hair for about 4 months now and I am still using the same bottle that came in the introductory package. I wash my hair about every 4 days. It is shiny and silky. I tried co washing with conditioner I had left over from before, and it made my hair heavy and weighed down, even after rinsing for a long time. I love the texture balm that came with it, I don't have to blow dry my bangs into place any more, and they come out perfectly with a little bit of that. It even tames my cowlick!

I let the autoship send me a large bottle of Wen, and I think I am set for a year!

Love Wen! :thumbsup2

I have done the co washing and tried the Sally's knock off brand but honestly Wen works the best for me. When I co wash with White Rain tropical coconut conditioner(Dollar Tree) it comes in a close second, but it's a little too drying for me.

Whatever you use, here are some tricks:

Use a lot- about 1/4 c for short hair and more for longer.
Put it on first and leave it on for your whole shower.
Rinse really really well.
Really scrub your scalp.
Don't add extra product(gel etc.) to your hair before styling.

Use it every day for the first two weeks, then every other day for two weeks, and then as needed after that. Your scalp will produce less oil as it gets used to the extra conditioning. Hang in there- it is worth it.

I've only been co-washing for a few weeks right now, but I did a LOT of research on it before starting...it's kind of what I do. :rotfl2:

From my research and what I've been doing since, you shoul rinse my hair very well and then use a "cheap" conditioner (the best reviewed ones are VO5, Suave, and White Rain) to literally wash your hair and scalp. Comb through and leave in for about 3-5 minutes. Then rinse very well and follow up with a more normal conditioner if you want to. A lot of sites recommend using conditioners without 'cone products.

I've been using the Suave Naturals brand Green Apple scent to "wash" and then I have a bottle of Aveeno Nourish + Volumize conditioner like a normal conditioner afterward. I never got what I read would be a greasy period and I think that is for two reasons: 1) I would only wash my hair with shampoo every other day, 2) my hair was very dry before beginning co-washing.

So far so good. My hair is very soft and shiny again which makes it look good, but it does make styling a little difficult. I'm still working on how to get through the styling issue and what products to use that will work best. So far I don't really like the feeling of mousse in my hair after co-washing but I have a texturizing gel that works a bit better.

LOL...that's how I first came across this product. I didn't like it. I have fairly long, heavy hair that tends to frizz somewhat. I didn't think the Wen did much for my hair and I felt that my hair felt and looked greasy on the 2nd day (and I always wash my hair every other day).

If you do decide to try it, you might look on QVC's website. The one I tried from QVC was a package with a small bottle of each scent, so you could try them all. And the best thing about QVC...if you are not happy, send them back for a full refund. I tried all of them a couple of times, and finally determined it was not for me and returned it.

Thanks for the extra info here - and to the others giving great inside advice! My whole life I've hoped for a 'natural' way to make my hair softer, etc. I'm excited to try this!

I am still a bit confused about your total routine. I get that you co wash on most days, and maybe do a second conditioning on top of that - but how often do you "really" wash your hair (ie, how often do you use actual SHAMPOO?) and when you do wash w/ shampoo do you then conditin afterwards too? AND is that w/ the 'cheap' co washing conditioner, or your 'good stuff' conditioner? Would anyone be willing to type out a typical weekly routine? (You know, like Monday= co wash + 2nd conditioning, Tues = shampoo + no conditioner...etc., etc.) I'd be cool to see what different routines are out there, so I can see if any will help my frazzled :sad2::eek: hair. Thanks for all the great advice all!!:goodvibes
