My SO is not big into Birthday and Christmas presents. In fact, for the first seven years of our relationship, he had the wrong month (right day) for my birthday. I used to get mad until I realized two things. His family has always ignored his birthday and Christmas isn't a big deal to them either. It is not a religious thing, they just don't care. And, you wouldn't believe the awesome presents or outings I get for no reason other than he thinks I deserve it. He is getting better remembering the other two occasions, but as I like to think, we have our own celebrations that more than make up for the commerical ones!

My DH isn't big either on Birthdays but he does remember me because he knows it is important to me.

Maybe if you explained that to yours he would realize that it is your day and takes very little to celebrate it with you! One of those 'little things' that can mean a lot. A nice card and maybe being taken out to dinner is a special treat and isn't asking much fanfare at all?
