Well, this trip was....different. UPDATE - 9/1!

I enjoyed reading about your day at IoA, but I'm glad it's over because I didn't really know what to say about it! Universal is a subject I don't know too much about! Hahah, I apologize. The character meets sound super annoying though. Ugh.

Yall's dinner sounds like it was so wonderful! I'm so glad yall got to have your special date night, and I'm glad Reid had a fun time at the club! :goodvibes

Looks like you had fun at IOA! That Spiderman ride is great, im glad Reid liked it. I love Reid's face in the Spidey line. I totally agree with you on the meet & greets at IOA.:sad2: I could go on a rant but I won't lol. That background with Spidey is so annoying! Of course we were suckered into buying pictures so I guess their plot worked on us.:rolleyes1

I love the HP area. I could spend all day there looking at the details. One day...when I go by myself.

The Hulk is an awesome ride!

The Neverland Club is so cute! I love the pic of Reid going through the window.

I'm glad you & Ed enjoyed your date night. Citricos sounds great.:thumbsup2

The Neverland Club sounds like a steal! You could barely go out at home for that price much less at Disney.

Great updates Amanda!

The Neverland Club sounds awesome! I'm glad Reid had such a good time, and I know it's always amazing to get a few hours to yourselves. Maybe we'll do that sometime, too.

I'm so glad that date night worked out! I know that it was a bit of a worry for you in the beginning, but it sounds like everyone had a great time! That fee for the Neverland Club seems super reasonable to me.

I've been waffling between Citricos and Narcosses for our next trip. Thought I had decided on Narcosses, but now....

IoA sounds like a lot of fun. Neither Bryan nor I are huge HP fans, so I've been writing off IoA since it seems like HPland is the main attraction. Seems like we'd have a lot more to do than I thought!

Reid's pictures are adorable as always but I really love the one where he's practicing his Spidey moves. They do the same green screen thing at Sesame Place. I was so bummed about that when we took DD there. Just another thing that Disney does better I guess!

Yes we loved the Neverland Club too! It is wonderful that you and Ed were able to enjoy a nice dinner together, and Citricos sounds really really yummy!:thumbsup2

Reid and I found a shady spot to sit while Ed went off to ride the Hulk. There was hardly any line and he was off in no time! Then it was my turn! I love this ride so much. I can’t even begin to explain my love for that roller coaster. It’s just divine!
::yes::

Ok, I needed this update, thanks. I've been to Universal and IOA several times, and I do enjoy them, but I just wasn't excited about spending a day there next week. I think I'm a little more ready for it now. I can't wait to get back there and ride Hulk. That and Jurassic Park. I just love the animatronic dinosaurs and the theming of that ride. I just wish it was in one of those Jeeps from the movie (something closer to Dinosaur at AK) rather than a water ride, because sometimes I just don't want to get wet!

Ok, anyway, back to your update. :rotfl2:

I'm glad you got to enjoy a date night. If DW and I ever get a chance, we'll have to make sure Citricos is one of the top options. :thumbsup2

I've always wondered how much it would cost to do the Neverland Club for an evening, but not having kids old enough to go there anyway, I've never even looked into it. I don't think 28.50 is bad at all. Well worth it for a night out, and if he had such a good time there, that's fantastic.

Citrico's sounds yummy! YAY for date night! And Reid had his own night out too :thumbsup2

Discovery Island was a hit with my girls, there was a handler with a baby triceratops...and all the kids thought it was real..not to mentio a great place to cool ff and chill a bit :goodvibes

Love your trip report! Reid is just adorable to look at...I love his little face! My DH and boys would love to go to IoA but I am the hold out! I just like staying at Disney when I am at Disney...plus we don't have a car there!

Oh, an October trip for next year!!! :woohoo: So jealous of your new school calendar…..

BTW, hi Amanda! Sorry I’ve been all MIA again - I am a terrible DIS’er lately. Had to travel for work this week, and now we are going to be moving in two weeks! So crazy, crazy times!

I really enjoyed the look at Universal. We have never been and probably won’t until Willow is quite a bit older, but it really does look like a lot of fun! The character meets sound a little problematic, but how cool to meet Spiderman!!! Of course, I don’t really know most of the other characters, so, um, yeah…. :rotfl2: I always love pictures of the Harry Potter stuff - it really seems like you have just walked into the books.

I love how happy Reid looks to be at the club! And I’m so glad that you two had such a nice date night. :lovestruc:

Fun to read about your Thanksgiving trip. The Kid Kamp room looks so fun!!! The indoor water park is insane! You know, looking at these pictures and reading along, I was thinking there may be something like this in Oregon or Washington - maybe even the same place. I was going to Google but then you kindly listed all the locations! ;) What a fun Thanksgiving weekend!

Trying to catch up after being sick all eek and before we leave for our trip.

Sounds like a great day at Univeral. I have to say I remember when Disney did NOT have the handlers or the lines for the character meet and greets. That is one of the best things they ever incorporated.

I'm glad you and Ed got a date night. You can see in Reid's eyes he was all for that Neverland Club. Sounds like you had a really wonderful dinner.

Finally caught up.

I feel like I'm always playing catch up these days. :sad2:

GWL looks like a ton of fun. I know that kids just love it there. I think my kids were a little too old by the time they got popular. The room is very cute. What a fun experience for the cooler weather.

It really was a nice get-away. I was a little skeptical but it turned out to be lots of fun.

Thank you for posting to pictures of the Gaylord Ice sculptures. I have always been curious to see the one in Orlando and now I know I definitely want to see it. I wonder when it starts in November. Very cool.

It really was cool! I'd like to go back one day when I don't have a young child to keep up with. It was very crowded in there and my 4 year old didn't really want to take his time and admire the sculptures like I wanted. :rotfl:

IOA looks like a ton of fun. I agree that the Hulk is one of the best coasters ever! :worship: You pictures turned out wonderful and all the pictures of Reid are great. Really good depth of field and he is so stinkin cute! Love the pirate face. :thumbsup2

I wish I could ride the Hulk everyday! :cloud9: Thank you about my pictures of Reid. When I have the time to think about how I want to manipulate my settings, I can produce ok pics. Reid just usually isn't very patient with me. :lmao:

I enjoyed reading about your day at IoA, but I'm glad it's over because I didn't really know what to say about it! Universal is a subject I don't know too much about! Hahah, I apologize. The character meets sound super annoying though. Ugh.

No need to apologize! At least now you know a little bit about IoA! :thumbsup2

Yall's dinner sounds like it was so wonderful! I'm so glad yall got to have your special date night, and I'm glad Reid had a fun time at the club! :goodvibes

That meal was fantastic!! I highly recommend it if you're ever in the mood to try out a signature.

Looks like you had fun at IOA! That Spiderman ride is great, im glad Reid liked it. I love Reid's face in the Spidey line. I totally agree with you on the meet & greets at IOA. I could go on a rant but I won't lol. That background with Spidey is so annoying! Of course we were suckered into buying pictures so I guess their plot worked on us.:rolleyes1

I'm glad I'm not the only one who doesn't like their meet and greets. And I probably would have bought the picture too if ours had come out better. It's like they didn't even wait for Reid to smile at the camera.

I love the HP area. I could spend all day there looking at the details. One day...when I go by myself.

I'd love to go there by myself, too! I could spend hours there just taking pictures.

The Hulk is an awesome ride!

Right?!? I love it!!!!

The Neverland Club is so cute! I love the pic of Reid going through the window.

I thought it was really cute and clever the way they had them climb through the window.

I'm glad you & Ed enjoyed your date night. Citricos sounds great.:thumbsup2

Thanks! It really was a fabulous meal!

The Neverland Club sounds like a steal! You could barely go out at home for that price much less at Disney.

That's what I said! Most babysitters around here charge $12-$14/hour. I thought it was a surprisingly good deal.

Great updates Amanda!

Thank you!!

The Neverland Club sounds awesome! I'm glad Reid had such a good time, and I know it's always amazing to get a few hours to yourselves. Maybe we'll do that sometime, too.

You should definitely do it! It's not a bad price and it's so much fun for the kids. And I have to say that it was really nice to have one quiet meal on our trip.

I'm so glad that date night worked out! I know that it was a bit of a worry for you in the beginning, but it sounds like everyone had a great time! That fee for the Neverland Club seems super reasonable to me.

Thanks! I'm really glad I didn't cancel our night. I think it was good for all 3 of us. I thought the Club was a great price...especially since food was included.

I've been waffling between Citricos and Narcosses for our next trip. Thought I had decided on Narcosses, but now....

I've heard many good things about Narcoosee's. But, I highly suggest Citricos. Our meal was delicious!

IoA sounds like a lot of fun. Neither Bryan nor I are huge HP fans, so I've been writing off IoA since it seems like HPland is the main attraction. Seems like we'd have a lot more to do than I thought!

I don't know when we'll go back to IoA or Universal but it is a fun place. When Reid gets older, we'll probably spend more time there.

Reid's pictures are adorable as always but I really love the one where he's practicing his Spidey moves. They do the same green screen thing at Sesame Place. I was so bummed about that when we took DD there. Just another thing that Disney does better I guess!

Thank you!! That green screen really aggravated me.

Yes we loved the Neverland Club too! It is wonderful that you and Ed were able to enjoy a nice dinner together, and Citricos sounds really really yummy!

I was so happy that Reid had fun in the club. We'll definitely utilize it again in the future. And Citricos was just fantastic. I can't say enough good things about it.

Well, by now you're on your trip and y'all have already been to IoA. I hope y'all had a fun day there. And that you were able to ride Jurassic Park and the Hulk.

Ok, anyway, back to your update. :rotfl2:

I'm glad you got to enjoy a date night. If DW and I ever get a chance, we'll have to make sure Citricos is one of the top options. :thumbsup2

It was such a nice choice for a date night. Your DW would be so excited if you surprised her with a date night on a Disney vacay!

I've always wondered how much it would cost to do the Neverland Club for an evening, but not having kids old enough to go there anyway, I've never even looked into it. I don't think 28.50 is bad at all. Well worth it for a night out, and if he had such a good time there, that's fantastic.

I thought it was a really good deal especially when you consider that dinner and snacks were included. Definitely look into it when you're kids are old enough. Well worth the price!

Citrico's sounds yummy! YAY for date night! And Reid had his own night out too :thumbsup2

I think everyone had a good night. Citricos was fantastic!!

Discovery Island was a hit with my girls, there was a handler with a baby triceratops...and all the kids thought it was real..not to mentio a great place to cool ff and chill a bit :goodvibes

Reid watched a dinosaur egg "hatch". He thought it was really neat.

Love your trip report! Reid is just adorable to look at...I love his little face! My DH and boys would love to go to IoA but I am the hold out! I just like staying at Disney when I am at Disney...plus we don't have a car there!

Thank you so much!! IoA is fun...even if you just take a day to visit. If you don't have a car, the Mears shuttles can transport you from Disney to IoA and back again. And they're reasonably priced. But, you don't have to tell your DH and sons that if you don't want. :rotfl:

Oh, an October trip for next year!!! :woohoo: So jealous of your new school calendar…..

They just better keep that new fall break when they put out next year's calendar. :rotfl2:

BTW, hi Amanda! Sorry I’ve been all MIA again - I am a terrible DIS’er lately. Had to travel for work this week, and now we are going to be moving in two weeks! So crazy, crazy times!

I'm hardly on lately too. We're just insanely busy. :sad2: Y'all are moving?!? Did the house sell? I'm excited for you! I'll have to catch up on details with you later.

The Harry Potter area really is so neat to see and experience especially if you're a big Potter fan (like me).

I love how happy Reid looks to be at the club! And I’m so glad that you two had such a nice date night. :lovestruc:

It was a really nice night. I'm so glad I didn't cancel it.

That place was so much fun! Reid still can't stop talking about it. You should check it out for maybe a short getaway some time for y'all.

Trying to catch up after being sick all eek and before we leave for our trip.

I really hope you feel better before y'all leave!

Sounds like a great day at Univeral. I have to say I remember when Disney did NOT have the handlers or the lines for the character meet and greets. That is one of the best things they ever incorporated.

I know some people say they wish Disney didn't have the handlers but :headache: it would just be a nightmare. I'm so glad Disney does it in an orderly manner.

I'm glad you and Ed got a date night. You can see in Reid's eyes he was all for that Neverland Club. Sounds like you had a really wonderful dinner.

It really ended up being a wonderful night. Reid had lots of fun. And our dinner was amazing!!

Ed and I were both up at 6:15 am this day to start getting ready. Once we were ready, we got Reid up and got him ready for the day. We decided, yet again, to drive this day. It was just so quick and easy to use our car. By 7 am, we were on the road and heading to Polynesian.

Our ADR for ‘Ohana was at 7:30 am. When we got up there at 7:15 am, there was already a line to check-in. Once we were checked in, we parked our stroller and got in the line to have our picture taken. This is where Reid had his next major meltdown of the trip. We had been handed leis when we got in line and I tried to put one on him. Evidently, he is extremely opposed to the idea of wearing a lei and proceeded to throw a complete tantrum. So much so that we could barely even drag him up to the spot to have our photo taken. And just what did he do when the CM told him, “Awww....come on....smile”. Yep, he completely shut down the tantrum and gave her a sweet smile. :headache:

Even though we weren’t having the best family moment, I tried to put on a happy face as our cousin led us to our table and explained the food service. For anyone who is unaware, this meal is served family style. Big platters of food are brought to your table and refilled as requested.

Once we were seated, we were greeted quickly by our server cousin. He was very friendly and attentive. And soon the food was there: coconut pineapple bread, fresh fruit, Mickey waffles, biscuits, bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, and breakfast potatoes. Everything was very fresh and yummy! And the juice! It’s so good....all of us had a few glasses.

Of course, keeping with the theme of the morning, Reid continued to be defiant and didn’t want to eat breakfast. We did finally get him to eat at least a little bit. And as soon as the characters started coming, he acted like he had been the happiest child all morning long.

First was Lilo:

She didn’t stay long at all and was probably my least favorite from the meal.

Next up was Stitch:

Then it was time for the Main Mouse:

I would definitely say that Mickey and Pluto provided the best interaction during this meal. Mickey was very happy to hear that he is Reid’s favorite.

And the best was definitely saved for last:

Pluto stuck around for a little while playing with Reid. Reid told Pluto that he’s his “best pal” and he got all excited. And he really thought it was funny when Reid started “honking” his nose.

After our character meets, Reid stayed in an ok mood and even let me take a few pictures of him.

Cousins came around and brought maracas (I guess that’s what they’re called) to the kids for the children’s parade:

Off to join the parade:

I could never get a decent shot of Reid in the parade but I got a few of the characters:

I would definitely do this character meal again. The food was fresh and good. I really enjoyed the family style serving. It was really nice to just sit down and enjoy a meal without getting up and down to go to the buffet for two people. The character interaction was okay but I never expect much in that category. And I thought the price was a pretty good value as far as character meals go.

By 8:30 am we were out of there. We quickly caught the monorail to Magic Kingdom and we were through bag check by 8:45 am, just in time for the Rope Drop Show!

It sounds like we had the same meal at 'Ohana! I really liked the food, the characters were good. No reason at all not to go back! You're right. The family style part is nice. No getting up and down and being afraid we'll miss this character or that.

Sorry Reid was being such a pistol. I hope that wasn't the theme of the day.:goodvibes

Reid watched a dinosaur egg "hatch". He thought it was really neat.
That was really neat :)

I really enjoyed the family style serving. It was really nice to just sit down and enjoy a meal without getting up and down to go to the buffet for two people.

This is what I like about the family style too....truth be told...I never get to eat much when I am feeding everyone else...

Hubs always quotes a line from A Christmas story "My mother hasn’t had a hot meal in 15 years"~that's me :lmao:

I'm on finally caught up and excited for the update. We've never done Ohana breakfast and it sounds amazing! I'm glad y'all had a good time after Reid's meltdowns. You know we'll never believe he acts like that because he's just so cute in this pics. LOL

Sorry for the meltdown, but Reid sure turns around quick with the smiles. I'm glad you enjoyed your breakfast at Ohana (never been...perhaps if they offered different options for the family style we would consider it).

I think my favorite photos this round are Reid and Pluto. :goodvibes

I have always wanted to try the breakfast at Ohana. I even had it scheduled once, but had to cancel for illness. Boo!

Can't see your pics now, but I will definitely stop back later today because I bet they are great.

Too bad Reid was not lving the lei, but at least he settled down for character and picture time.

Ah yes the dreaded Disney meltdown....you never know when it is going to rear it's head!;) Been there.....(ok not specifically at an 'Ohana Breakfast) but you get my drift!

It's their darn cuteness that saves the day....and Reid sure has that!:goodvibes Glad you were able to enjoy the breakfast and make it to MK for rope drop! Perfect!

Yum! Ohana sounds delish! I really want to try it! The character interaction looked great! Sorry Reid wasn't in the best mood. :sad1: At least he cheered up! :thumbsup2 I can't wait to hear about MK! :goodvibes

Sorry about Reid's weird mood. :( I'm glad he enjoyed the characters! It looks like such a fun spot for breakfast! :thumbsup2
