Well this stinks....DH's flight cancelled....Update: New plane & he's on his way!

Something on the plane did not work and needed repairing and they cannot fix it.

I thought we were in the clear as there is no blizzard.

I have no idea what to expect since the are still clearing out passengers from the weekend. I'm sure DH and his fellow passengers are way on the bottom of the totem poll.

Very disappointing. He was laid off Nov 1, got a new job in the DC area Dec 1 and the only thing that concerned his children was his ability to be home for Christmas.

I think I may lose it.

While its not my preferred way to travel, can he rent a car and drive home? If he leaves this morning he should be home by tonight.

14 hour drive.

But I have just been informed they are seeking a replacement plane. I've often wondered how sometimes you get royally bumped and others they go and get another plane. Is BWI a Southwest, hub?

Well, I'm glad he didn't book out of Dulles this time, then.

He's lining up as we speak to get on a different plane.

I'm just surprised they could--have a solution so quickly.

My 9yo resident, "that's not fair" pessimist--was even optimistic--she actually said "All hope is not lost--only some of it" when it was cancelled. She's never a glass is half full kind of kid.

This is one factor to consider when buying a plane ticket. When you are flying out of a hub for a major airline, they can sometimes find another plane if there's a problem. I've had this happen with Northwest out of MSP. When you are flying an airline with 1 flight a day out of your airport or 3 flights a week, they may not be able to do this.

And they are about to depart the gate and overall total delay is to only be an hour!!!

A Christmas miracle. I just hope there isn't a chain reaction and someone else's holiday travel gets messed up as a result.

But he should be at OIA by noon. Yippeee!!!!

I really need to take lessons from my children in optimism.
