We had reserved the motel 6 anaheim maingate based on tripadvisor reviews and some peoples recommendation here.

The past several reviews of people just getting back on trip advisor have made it sound very dirty and crappy now.

Please help me find a decent place for our nighys oct 20 through 25th that is safe and clean and cheap. :)

Any help is appreciated!! :)

Keep in mind if you read enough reviews EVERYWHERE will have these "ups and downs" , I do this to myself as well. I know the Motel 6 is rather popular here so I take the overall experience with soem weight.

However some good local budget places are :

Super 8 Katella
Super 8 Disneyland Drive
Eden Roc ( newly remodeled and getting good feedback)
Anaheim Majestic

I typically use Orbitz to get an idea who has availability then use that to search individual sites for better offers.

That motel 6 had traditionally been good. I wouldn't let a recent few reviews sway me. Years of it being appreciated means something.

I've stayed there many times and I would never call it crappy! its a clean, safe, no frills budget motel less than a mile from Disneyland!

This is one of the few Motel 6s I would stay at. It is clean but basic. My ex stayed there last month and it was fine.

We get the years of reviews... we have stayed at hotels with years of reviews that were good and then they went downhill.. that is the worry :-( a syringe was found, floors dirty (we are a barefoot family) hairs on the "clean" towels etc are all reported lately :-(

You want a major HOTEL brand at the low end of MOTEL pricing on short notice. It doesn't exist. After 5 or 6 threads asking the same thing and getting the same answer over and over again you still seem to think that there's some secret hotel that isn't sold out for your dates. If it's so secret that no one else has booked, I don't think anyone here knows about it. You could try hotel hopping if the place you want is only sold out on a few nights. At least that would mitigate the damage if the Motel 6 isn't up to your safe and clean standard.

We stayed at that Motel 6 last year, and it worked well for us. Motel 6 is a very basic motel, but it was clean and a quick walk to the main gate of the park.

no need to be mean. i was fine with it but my husband saw the syringe and said there is no way so i am back to the drawing board.
if you dont have anything nice to say please move along. :-( no need to be nasty.

i dont care if its a motel or hotel but yes CLEAN and SAFE are major concerns for me with small children. Someone finding a syringe that fell out of a curtain seems to us that it may not be either of those :-(

Yes!!! And if I saw something about finding a syringe I would promptly move hotels too!! Not just yuck but dangerous! My kids walk sock footed/barefooted around our hotels and I would be really upset if they had black feet from it. We actually cancelled a ressie during our last trip due to similar reviews on their floors. Hope you find a reasonable clean hotel!

yes we are a barefoot family big time and that just wouldnt cut it :-( thank you millie0312 we have been trying to go for 6 years now and finally are able to take a little time off work with a little money for this. i want it to be special but safety is also a priority. :-)
i am keeping my fingers crossed and keeping my eyes open for rooms becoming available etc. hopefully something shows up so i am not freaking out about the floors the whole time haha

Hilton has rooms available - $214 a night. Double Tree out by UC Irvine Medical is $150 a night. Portofino is only $150 also.

You keep implying that everyone else must stay in dirty, unsafe hotels when you repeatedly ask the same question over and over without acknowledging that people have given you many recommendations. What is your expectation with repeatedly posting the same thread? Have you explored all of the suggestions you've gotten on all the threads you've started?

There is a lot of advice in these previous threads. Seriously, what do you think anyone can tell you that they haven't already? There really might not be a room available at your price point for your dates. The longer you wait there might not be a room at all, as it appears to be a popular weekend.

I would sign up for all the major chains emails to see about discounts. Also look on that specific local hotel (not the chain that local branch) on social media- we got a killer deal on HoJo last year on their facebook page- it was 50% off I believe. I know a couple of the new hotels were sending different promos out recently and there was a flash deal at the hilton last week I believe. Also, Orbitz will frequently offer 15-20% off (no limit if you get the right discount code, but some top out at $150 off) so if nothing else you could use that to get a good deal. If you want walking distance the cost is harder, if you don't mind taking a car/ART/shuttle I think you could probably still get a killer deal even though its close to your trip.

I dont mind using a car/shuttle at all. We are driving so no problems there.
Thanks for the ideas! I nevee would have thought about facebook pages!! Thats a great idea!!

Another thing to keep in mind is researching parking charges , which are at many hotels in Anaheim - some of these are on top of resort fees so even finding a good deal can soon change if you are paying for 10-18 for parking daily.

There is no perfect place as there are always going to be issues - working for a hotel for awhile I've seen and heard close to it all.
My advice is to find a budget you are comftorable with - check the individual hotel sites for specific hotel policies.

Consider staying in Buena Park/Knott's/Placentia area for cheaper rates since you are driving.

I noticed this cheap motel topic seemed to be quite common, now I know why.

I also just noticed that threads started by ignored users are blocked, not just the individual posts.

I didn't realize those were all the same poster. And all within a week...

Add to that, the person who allegedly found a needle in the curtains makes me wonder, as their comment was that the motel refused to comp their entire stay, so they posted this. I just found it very fishy.

If folks have a few minutes...On the subject of cheap hotels and the area in general...

Anaheim's Resort District, the area around Disneyland, is an interesting place to research. Obviously it's a foundation made for tourists and conference-goers. The architecture of the place hide some of the neighborhoods which surround it. Garden Grove, Santa Ana, Stanton, and Buena Park are not the most economically well-off in certain areas. Also Anaheim proper has certain viewpoints about Disneyland and how much support the City offers in terms of public works and policing. Does get quite political at times.

So this means? There's a premium paid for staying in the Resort District. Whether because of location, room taxes, parking, and so on. You will notice palm trees, nice landscaping, decorative bus stops and upscale restaurants. Go 2-3 miles out in any direction and will see a different side to the town.

This translates to: Less-costly options are available if the palm trees and decorative bus stops are things you can do without. The owners of the hotels can vary, some locally owned cater to Disneyland more than others. Many of your chains will generally be fine even a couple miles out.

The accommodations: Hotel owners know they will get business regardless of the setup simply because of location to Disneyland. Therefore some will be more willing than others to invest in furniture and bedding on a regular basis. Usually reflects in the price in the hotel.

Bottom Line: Do good homework, and you generally can find a decent room even though they may not have "Egyptian Cotton" available.
