well thats put a end to our big trip

Hello,

we were due to fly out on aug 25th for our long trip but on 9/2/16 it was school holiday so i went for a nice stroll with my kids , took a slip and fell.

somehow i managed to break my leg in 3 places , am still sat in hospital awaiting transfer to a larger hospital now for a orthopedic specialist to perform a 2nd surgery.

I am devastated i have such a long road ahead of me ( 6 month with my leg in a cage for a start) that missing out on the holiday has just been the final straw.

I am however determined to get up and on my feet as quick as possible and hoping a rebook in april with free dining for the following aug will cheer me up and fill my bed bound days

That is horrible.
I have had my leg in plaster twice for three months and that was more than a little annoying!
I found some alone time to curse and swear helped me keep my sanity!
I hope your new plans includes some "I deserve it treats"

They may be very disappointed & upset but putting on a brave face for your sake.

There are Theme Parks ........ so give them a small version of Disney... & you will be the Best Mum in the world

while you watch them enjoying themselves ........ while you ...... hold their " Stuff " & look on ( in Plaster ) with a smile.

On the plus side it was a surprise trip so the kids have not got a clue what they are missing thank god !!! i hadnt been organised so nothing except our very cheap bargain flights were booked.

As for the trip, this delay just gives you more time to plan an amazing break for next year and you'll have Avatar land opening as well and that can only add to the fun.

I'm so sorry to hear this!
It sucks hen something cones up like this, I've had to cancel a trip due to head surgery before, and postpone one 2 due to hubby's military coming first.
( at least I have him to blame when that happens)
Think of it this way! More will be open and you will have double the spending money xx

I will be wearing my ilizarov external cage on my leg for 6 month but start physio 2 week post op. so potentially can be cage free by the time we fly. I have done a lot of research and technically can still fly if still in metal work but as its a holiday o the states travel insurance to cover the frame is insane

i just think it will give me something to focus on when physio is hellish . So if the frame is off and i can hobble to that plane im bloody getting on it , yes we will have to cut back on lots of park hours but some rest and recoup in the sunshine plus swimming alot will do me the world of good.

There Maybe Wheelchairs to be hired at the Orlando Airport .

as we have only so far booked the flights we have now decided we are not going to cancel them !! Seems I'm about travel the same luck as you! I went to my KIDS hospital app yesterday, and it happened to be my old head surgery consultant.
He said I didn't look well, and I said no I don't feel too good my head hurts again, Anyway long story short, he decided he wanted to check me out,and I'm now booked in for emergency surgery!
Worst luck ever.lol.

I broke my ankle at the end of last year so I have great sympathy for you. I was luckier in that I wasn't in a cast as long but totally agree how difficult it is to try and plan trips when you don't know what you will be capable of.

Omg what a shock, when is your surgery hope it all goes well and doesn't mess your holiday plans.
I have to go see my surgeon next Thursday for new X-rays ,hoping all is looking good. I'm super fed up the leg cage is soo heavy and bulky
