Well That Didn't take Long!

That's a horrible deal. People with single day Mk tickets don't want to go to the other parks that's why the bought the MK tickets. Ta the very least they should be given 3 fastpasses for the other parks since they can't even use their MK fastpasses I would be beyond mad if this happened to me.
But you get free QS dining at the other parks doesn't that make it amazing. Just think of all the great options to eat if you go to HS or all the cool things to do at EPCOT!

ITA! I'd take that coupon right to the Tangierine Cafe for the mezze platter! :surfweb:

ZERO shock or surprise in crowds or staged closures on MK's busiest day of the year. Too bad they didn't go last night, heard after fireworks the attractions were walk on.

Honestly they should just make NYE a block out date for one day tickets. Saves those with last minute planning issues the agony of being given free parking and dining for 6 (aka $100) at another park. We all knew it was going to happen, and happen very early.

Why one-day tickets? They make a mint on those. I would think local APs are probably adding to the crowds too.

1) Because those are the first folks Disney refuses entry to during closures.
2) Disney has done the algorithms and math to decide those are the people they want to stop first.
3) I think overall if someone is buying a one day ticket, they are probably spending little else on property.

Pics or it didn't happen.

Believe it or not.

Am talking right now to CM who is manager who works in Fantasyland and was there until 5 am ... and getting ready to go back to work all of tonight. Said the place emptied out after fireworks and even the DJs were spinning to no one.

Based on what they just with APs, I think more blockout dates for more APs are more likely than blockouts for one-day tickets.

Why do you think someone with a one-day ticket is spending less on that day than a local AP holder? I agree they are most likely spending less than someone staying onsite.

Be careful with those assumptions.

We bought one day tickets to the MK this summer and spent way more per day than on any longer trip we have taken. We spent 3 nights onsite, did 3 character meals, and spent money shopping at DTD and the Boardwalk.

Odds are "local AP" holders have Florida Resident tickets which already have block out dates and are not there anyway, so not part of the issue.

Disney has decided that one day ticket holders are the first ones they want to block from coming in. If you want to compare them to a regular AP holder, which I am, I guarantee if I bought one day tickets I would spend next to nothing in the park, but being an AP holder, I spend plenty and have no issue booking all the extras. I also stay for many days spending money every day.

Would locals tend to buy one day tickets though? And I see locals as less likely to buy food in the parks and stay onsite.

I know..... you're probably the exception. And maybe I'm the exception on the other end of the spectrum.

If you are arriving at the gate with a one day ticket, I would think you've already paid for parking so that seems pointless.

MK tickets are only $8 more so the Free QS meal pretty much even's out if not overcompensates them for the price difference.

I think that if you buy a ticket to an event and don't bother to check out how busy the MK is on NYE (well documented everywhere) then you didn't plan well enough and you don't have much to complain about.

Again this reminds me that you could not PAY ME enough to go to a Disney Park on a holiday. Heck that picture is enough to scare me away.

What a weird assumption. Everyone I know who gets a 1 day ticket make the most out of the day and do get tons of extras. They just don't like the offerings in the other parks.

I'm just going to assume that my definition of "emptied out" might be different from the definition of someone who had been working all week in the midst of the highest crowds of the season.

I don't mean this to sound snarky, but if a single-day guest can't get in only an hour or so after opening (I'm assuming it was an 8 am opening today, but don't know), did those guests really stand any hope at all?

Probably not.

Or maybe is becuase the other parks suck and people don't want to waste their vacation days there.

- I completely disagree with you about the other parks.
- But your point supports why Disney blocks the one day ticket holders first.
- One day ticket holders are not Disney's target market.

- Not weird to me. I would not spend one more penny than I had to after paying $500 for my family to enter the park.
- I could give all kinds of thoughts why but what I or anyone thinks doesn't matter.
- Disney decided they wanted to block one day ticket holders first, am sure it comes down to economics.

You're still assuming everyone is like you. We paid $315 for 3 of us to enter the park. We ate in both castles plus a late night snack. We bought souvenirs. And that was just on our park day.

Definitely, those Florida resident tickets/passes with the blockout dates are the first tickets that are technically blocked.

I was thinking more like adding a blockout date to another class of pass and making you buy up to get the holiday week dates as well. Similar to what they already did with the APs this year, but just adding more, let's say you have to buy the Platinum Plus pass to get that week. Not saying I want that to happen, but I think that is more likely to happen than blocking all one-day tickets.
